The carb on my zx 50 seems to overlow quite a lot. any thought on how to stop it? I clean the carb and put it back together and it started to do this

Sounds like the needle valve is not shutting completely. Unfortunetly you have to take it apart again. The needle valve is located right under the float, well it's connected to it actually. There is most likely a little piece of dirt stuck in there thats not letting it seat completely. Try that and see how it works.

ok i did that and now it wont run unless i spray starting fluid in it. Its getting gas to the carb. could it be the auto bystarter?

Tap the carburetor with a ratchet or something of equal weight. Sounds like the float is sticking shut. Just don't whak away at the carburetor. Tap the top and the sides a few times and seehow that works.

now im having problems again, it will start up for a second or two and shut off, would i be better off to get a new carb and if so where are they the cheapest to get?

Chances are is that you dont need to purchase a new one. Not unless the inside is corroded beyond belief. The fuel systems on these scooters are very sensitive to the smalles particles of dirt. Your talking about carburetor jets and openings that are really really small, so the smallest particle will effect it. Here is what I would do. I would start by taking off the fuel petcock located under the gas tank. Drain the tank completley. Also take out the fuel strainer that should hopefull should of have come out with the petcock, if not just take some pliers and pull it out. Clean the petcock and strainer. Get a brand new fuel line and new fuel filter. Install the petcock, strainer, fuel line and filter with some fresh gas. Then you should clean the carburetor once again, thoroughly. Take a 8 guage wire and strip about a half inch off it and use the exposed wire to gently clean the area where the needle valve sits. Also, I would clean the air filter element and install a new spark plug. Also, take the gas cap off and spray it down with carburetor cleaner paying attention to the vent hole. It sounds like a big process but it can be done in under a half an hour. It's just a process of elimination.

before i forget, i forgot to tell you i was premixing the fuel, do you think that has something to do with it?
I broke off the fitting that goes to the carb some how.

Yes that will have something to do with it. It will constantly foul up your spark plug making it dificult to start and to difficult to keep running. Don't pre-mix unless your positive oil is not getting circulated. Your enginge will overheat and shut down if it's not getting the oil, chances are that it's okay. I can't make out in the picture what you broke off. I will check the service manual to see if I can see what it is.

its the part that comes off the oil pump going to the carb. now does it inject it into the carb? I also found a place where it says its a 32-1 mix. if they jost sold that one piece instaed of buying the whole pump i would be happy

now im thinking it is the ignition coil. on the Resistance test i am getting .009 not the .153 to .187 there is spark and it shocked me the other day ??? but nothing like it should have
