I just bought a 2006 250 with 490 Km. I am noticing that when I start it, it is engaged without my hand on the throttle. I need to hold the brakes to keep it from going anywhere, all without my hand on the throttle, Eventually it settles down and stops when I turn down the throttle. Why is it doing this?

Probably the automatic choke. It reves up the engine a little. After it warms up, the rpms drop and everything settles down. Very normal.

Agreed. The idle rpm's may be a bit too hi too. It should purr not scream when warm.

If you're a new scooterist, it's best to place the scoot on center stand everytime you park. This is the safest because the rear tire doesnt touch the ground especially when there are kids around and you have to leave your scoot for a while e.g. pick-up something , close the gate, etc.

I have this same scoot' and I usually start it on the center stand while suiting up. By the time I'm suited and ready the motor has come down a little from cold idle and ready to go.
Enjoy the scoot'!

If the People 250 is typical of all Kymcos; it won't run with the kick stand down anyway. So if you want to warm up before you ride, either sit on it or put the center stand down.
