The owners manual states that the S 250 needs a fairly serious service that needs to be done at only 200 miles.
I've owned about 20 motorcycles and scooters since 1962, and none of them required service at only 200 miles, so this is surprising for me.
I called a dealer today to schedule the service and it surprised the Service Mgr too. He suggested that I wait for another 200 - 300 miles and then bring it in. He said that he should the scooter should be fine as long as I follow the normal break in procedure. I felt that it was excellent advice and plan to take it in when I reach 500 - 600 miles.
Comments/Suggestions please.

You need to at least have a motor oil and gear oil change at 200 miles.

Wonder why Kymco is different than Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and BMW (and probably other makes) in that none of them need a service, including oil and gear oil change, at only 200 miles?

It does seem a very short interval for a fairly large service. I would simply suggest the engine/gearbox oil changes as noted above. I do this on all my new vehicles out of concern for initial break in particles in the oil.
