In reading different posts in this forum, I have a suggestion for all members. I suggest members put their location in their profiles. If I read where a member is having a problem that I thought I could help with, I'd check his profile. If they were close enough maybe I could help hands on. Im a retired (Department of Defense) mechanic with a heated garage and a scooter lift and I would be happy to try to help anybody if I could. Basic maintenance stuff and minor mods (CVT upgrade etc). With no location listed you don't know how close they are. It could also be a way to identify some other folks to ride with. The only scooterist I know in my area is my neighbor across the street. He's even older than me and rides a little 50cc that I help him maintain. It would be great to hook up with some other locals for rides occasionaly.

I suggested this some time ago but for other reasons. It went no where, but you know where I'm at by my zip code (08087) southern NJ along the coast. I work in North Jersey if that brings me any closer to you, and you are where?
-
Yeah, this is a cool idea, I put my location in my signature.
-
;D
I just changed my profile.
Let the stalking begin........
-
This is a good idea. From some posts I have read, some of the members have let other members know their location. Of course I am in Vegas Baby. My zip is 89123.
-
;D
I just changed my profile.
Let the stalking begin........
Been there, done that..... stalking, I mean.. ;D
-
Good Idea...added my location to my signature as well.
-
Here ya go. Aurora, Colorado.
-
I added my location at the time I signed up, but it does not show. Anyone know why that is?
-
Post your location in your signature block. Don't know what the "location" block on the form is really for.
-
I went to my profile and modified this information in my signature part of my profile. That was easy. 8)
-
The location block is what I think I used. My location shows on the left just above my lovely photo right above
my member status.
-
Anybody here from the Philippines?............ I guess none... :D
-
Great idea! Hey Bleys I was born in Pawtucket. North Bend St. St. Joseph's parish. Len

It's a good idea if you're comfortable with that. A lot of us more frequent members do already know each others locations. It's kinda nice to get to know somebody(as much as you can through the internet anyway) before you let them know the town/city you live in. I'd certainly never post my address to a thread. Private messages are there for a reason.
You might be surprised how close some of us are. Anybody who wants to know where I am can certainly find it if they need to... Greensboro, NC... Along with more info I may or may not be comfortable with... Either way it's out there now. This forum does get a lot more traffic than people might think. Most people never register, or do and just ask one question and never come back. Nothing wrong with that... I have spurts where I'm on here multiple times a day and then sometimes I might go a couple weeks without getting on. I find that sometimes I read a few threads and don't comment just because I have nothing to say. Although, it seems like once I post to one, I'll post to 10 or more. It's kinda addictive.
I encourage people to stick around. Get to know other members. This forum can be informative and entertaining. Some people think that it should just be boring facts and ego contests. I disagree. Joking around or just shooting the sh** keeps me coming back. If it was just facts and details I would only get on when I have a problem with my scoot (rare partially thanks to this forum). Scooter related threads do take priority. We may go off on tangents sometimes but if a question is asked, 95% of the time the question is answered first. Sometimes somebody starts a thread and nobody ever replies. I hate when that happens. If it's been a few days or a week, ask if they have figured it out. You may not be able to answer the question but at least you'll put the thread back at the top of the list and show them that somebody is reading it.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion here. Some people are just bound and determined to tell you you are wrong in every way. They may be right, they may be wrong. Sometimes you just have to be the bigger person. Members of this forum are from all over the world. Cultures and norms can vary widely. Remember that. That being said there are some really cool people with expert advice on here. It's an enormous resource. I've said it before and I'll say it again... I'm so glad I bought a KYMCO just because I found this forum. Have fun and get to know each other,
Peet
-
Whew, that's what you post after a couple of weeks off...a four paragraph reply.... Lol!!! ;D ;D ;D
-
:D
Sorry... I just got to typing and couldn't stop
-
Some folks may worry about identity fraud etc?
Personally i put my location in my profile when i signed up.
-
Frankly, I've gone to "profile edit" a few times and still don't see where to enter location, profile photo, personal profile message, etc. Then again, my computer knowledge is even LESS than my subzero scooter maintenance knowledge ;D

Len,
I live on Linton St - not far from N. Bend at all. In fact, I often ride down North Bend. That area of Pawtucket is still recognizable, but they have built a lot of shopping centers nearby. Pawtucket still has that old mill town atmosphere though - I could move, but don't want too.

Isnt Pawtucket where Peter Griffin from Family Guy comes from? :) :)

If your single and dont have any kids at home ill give you my location. lol maybe phone # to
-
No, I am not "Family Guy." But there are a lot of men in Pawtucket that are not far off. The caricature is closer than most of them would like to admit. I am actually from Kansas, but moved out to RI for graduate school many years ago. Peter Griffin is a true rhode islander:)
-
...well, i'm in central north carolina ya'll ..!!
8)

Hey Word!
Good to hear from another Tar Heel!
I'm from a little town in North Carolina called Kings Mountain. There was no hospital in Kings Mountain so when my mother was due they took her to Gastonia to the hospital there but I lived in Kings Mountain until I was 9 or 10 and then lived until I was 16 in Central and South America. Now I'm married to an Australian and live in Wetumpka, Al. Wetumpka is about 8 miles north of Montgomery and is often referred to as a "bedroom community". I love the country atmosphere and own a home and enough property to have horses. Kind of like "Green Acres".

Peters you sound like my kind of man!!! How fast will your people 50 run flat out? I dropped mine off a steep hill tonight and hit 53 (45.5 gps) is this about tops?
-
Bill, When I lived in RI it was over in the Darlington area. At that time it was near the Narragansett race track next to Slater Park. I still have a cousin who lives on Willigton Street. One of my beat pals at school was Peter Palagi Jr. We used to go down to the creamery and have ice cream right out of the freezer machine! Len
-
I am so happy to learning from everyone on here. I have a friend who lives in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina. I plan to visit him one of these days. I love pizza and beer. We should party. Now that Feb. is upon us this means the weather starts warming up here in Vegas. Temps for the first week call for temps in the low to mid sixties. You gotta love this. At the end of Feb and the first weekend of March, Downtown Vegas becomes home to the annual HighRollers Scooter Rally. These rallies are always a blast. Happy riding to everyone. 8)

The people will do about 50 on the flats and maybe 55 downhill... Indicated that is... Probably a little more if I really pushed down a steep hill. Of course I have a BBK, Tecnigas pipe, 19mm carb, etc...
I've heard of peoples doing 60 downhill but they are most likely older models. All new Kymco 50s have a restricted rear pulley making it hard to get much more than 50 out of it without replacing the whole rear pulley assembly. I thought about buying a unrestricted pulley but to be honest I'm happy with where it's at now. I have hill climb power and acceleration and 50 is fast enough for me. Not sure what year they started that. Being a 2007 yours may not have that.

Yup...I live in the Darlington area. No race track anymore...there are 3 shopping centers there now and an industrial park. Funny about your friend. My first wife's mother was a Palagi...the same ones that owned the creamery. Their trucks still come around in the summer and I have a guy that stops in front of my house every weekend...he knows I will buy ice cream if I'm home. I'm not sure where Willigton street is...I will have to check a map.

Used to work the territory from Virginia down to central Georgia, from the coast over to Mississippi. Wears me out now to think about it.

HI BILL, are you a PAWSOX fan? I used to play in the stands at Mccoy Stadium when we lived in that part of town. My grandfather was a huge Sox fan, I still love the RED SOX. Len

...yup, i hada 2001 that would run that with just filter...
..bigger oem carb, and less restrictive oem exhaust on that ppl...
;)
..hey pete, i almost got tagged this morning....
-
..bigger oem carb, and less restrictive oem exhaust on that ppl...
Yup... And unrestricted rear pulley...
I'm betting mine has more acceleration though... at least I hope...
I need to throw a little more money at my ZX. Wouldn't take much to get it up to 50 mph. Among other things, it got moved to the back of my priority list. I have another Yamaha Blaster quad I bought about a year ago that has been put on the back of the list too. Just needs the cylinder sent off, machined, and matched with a piston kit. Only $150 on Ebay. Worth it if you ask me...
I'll get back to my projects eventually. Maybe a month or two...
-
I'm betting mine has more acceleration though
..yeah, and more torque up the hills too!!!...
...i still have that 01...it's actually now a 70 cc project, as well...
..just sitting there....

Len,
Love the PawSox....used to get season tickets....but no longer have the time. As for the Red Sox...they have been taken over by the Pink Hat crowd and the games are no longer fun. Still root for my KC Royals though. The Pawsox are the best entertainment value in town - especially when they have fireworks. By the way, the owner, Ben Mondor died about 4 years ago - a very sad day for Pawtucket.
-
Bleys,
I feel you my friend. I grew up rooting for the New York Mets. I could never be a Yankees fan. To be so was taboo. My father grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. As for the Mets, Las Vegas is now the home for the next 2 seasons for their triple A farm team. The Mets organization will find out very soon what a dump Cashfan Field is. In fact our former mayor, Oscar Goodman was focused on bringing a Major League Franchise to Vegas. This will not happen. The studies that were done on Cashman Field proved it would cost just as much to renovate Cashman as it would to build a brand new Minor League stadium. I guess being a Mets fan I will check out the new minor league club. God help us all.
-
..just sitting there....
I know how that goes
-
Nobody is really a Yankee fan. They just like to have that trophy every year. They just open that big wallet. It didn't work last year.
-
There's a team called the Yankees? Seriously, I grew up watching George Brett play for the Royals. I went to his Baseball Hall of Fame induction. In his speech, he said that one of the great things about baseball was the rivalries that have gone on for years. He then noted that he would always root against the Yankees and would always cheer for the Royals. The Yankees are the team I love to hate. I respect several of their players, though. KING, wonder how your father would feel about Donny Baseball coaching the Dodgers?
-
Bill, It will suck watching Kevin Youkalis in pin stripes at third in the Bronx! Len :'(

Now that the NFL season is over, I wonder if the players are looking forward to playing outdoors next year in my hometown of New York City? I know they can handle it. I just hope my New York Giants are there to win the Superbowl again in front of the greatest fans in American Football. Go G-Men!
-
Bill, It will suck watching Kevin Youkalis in pin stripes at third in the Bronx! Len :'(
Yes it will. But the Sox decided to trade him and you can't blame him for taking the money. Another move made for the "Pink Hats." He was not considered likeable enough for the average fan.
-
I know what you mean about the "pink hats" but he was such a gutty kind of player like Dustin Pedroia. That is I why have always enjoyed the Sox. They have always typified the blue collar go gettum' spirit. I guess the front office has to make allowances for the folks in Haaahvid Yaahd! ;D Len
-
I respect the Red Sox, but remember this: as a New York Mets fan the Mets beat the Red Sox in seven games of the 1986 World Series. The Sox were literally one strike and one out away from upsetting the Mets in game six, when the Mets made an effort to come back adn beat them. As I recall the Sox won less than 90 games while the Mets had won a 108 games in the regular season. This would have been one of the greatest upsets in sports of all time. I know the Sox won 2 World Series when they beat the Yankees in 2004 after being down 3 games to none. I just had to get this in being the New York sports fan that I am. Its all good Red Sox Nation.
