I sometimes wish the U.S. Congress would be like the rest of the world when it comes to Daylight Savings time. The USA is the only country in the Northern Hemisphere who actually sets the clocks 3 weeks ahead of every other country. Outside the U.S. most countries will not observe this for 3 more weeks. I personally wish we would go back to setting our clocks ahead the first Sunday of April. This does not save energy at all.

Canada changed the time this morning so USA is not the only one to-day,. we seem to be tied at the hip,.

I'm not sure why we move the clocks at all anymore. Sure it made more sense 45 years ago when we were at war (actually being Americans we are always at war) but now it just seems silly.

I wish they would do away with the semiannual change of time. It may have made sense decades ago. Old standards die hard I guess.

And while we're at it, lets finally GO METRIC.

not sure about the overall advantage/ disadvantage but here in the eastern time zone of the southern USA there are distinct
advantages to daylight saving time. Just as the name emplies we get an extra hour of daylight. more time to get out and do all the chores and outdoor activities that come with the summer months. On the downside our school kids have to be out and about getting to school before daylight ( more daytime at the end of day, less at the beginning ) they are out riding bikes, walking, or waiting for school buses in the dark. Not my idea of a good thing.
An old Indian once said of daylight savings time - only the government would think that by cutting a foot off the top of a blanket
and sewing it on the bottom could you make a longer blanket.....

PartyHut: I know what you mean. I could understand this concept being applied to places such Las Vegas. Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix where these tend to be warmer climates. Vegas does have winter like everyone else, but we do not get as cold as say the mid west and northeast does. Nature know the adjustment with temps going into the low 80's in the next couple of days.

Decades ago, activities are held during daytime, and we sleep at night time, DST is practiced in order to have a longer daytime and in effect, people can save on candles... Now we have activities 24/7.... having DST is non-sense... it doesnt matter now if it's day or night... time is just a reference...

DST is all BS, why not leave the clocks at DST if they want us to have light later in the day? Or leave it at standard time and have everyone get up and go to work an hour earlier?
Cows give milk at the same time all the time, they won't give it to a farmer all because he says it' time, they have an internal clock. (maybe different with modern machines)
Persoanlly I'm against it DSTor should I say changing of the time.
