Title: electrical problems
Post by: gremlim on April 15, 2013, 06:31:59 PM
hi all.

i have just had to replace the piston and cylinder head on my super8 50 2t, that was pretty easy but after starting up i noticed the indicators and headlighs dont work. Also the fuel gauge is not working properly either. I have checked fuses and they are fine but am now utterly confused. can anyone help??  thanks in advance

Did you disconnect any electrical connectors to reach the engine? Make sure they're all plugged in securely.

Did you unscrew any ground straps or eyelets? Make sure they're securely connected to the frame or engine block.

Also, make sure your battery terminal connections are securely tightened.

Check for melted wires near the exhaust

i cant see any wires melted.  would anything to do with changing the cylinder head dislodge anything thats not obvious?

There should have been a plastic shroud around the engine. On my people there is a cutout for the wiring harness on it. The wires have a rubber grommet that fits into the cutout on that plastic shroud. I screwed up and melted my starter wire because that grommet wasn't where it should have been.
