Title: How you check the gear lube?
Post by: Joe7911 on April 30, 2013, 11:23:14 PM
Is there a way to check the level of gear lube on the Kymco DT 300i?
All I can see its measure 8OZ and thats it no way to tell if you are low or not?
Any Ideas?

With my Zuma, I just changed it at the specified intervals.  The right amount always came out and I replaced it with the proper amount.  Haven't look at when it needs to be changed on the downtown but I am still not ready for my first oil change.

Use a bent wire.... and insert in the filler hole to check for lube level....

How far below the filler hole should the gear oil level be?

on the downtown it is below hole level , how much,  I have not seen anything on where the level is , so put in the right amount and put in vivos wire and let us know how low it is, use copper wire and flatten the wire part that go,s in so the oil will be seen on the wire,. # 8 or #10 wire should do the trick

Plus/minus a few ml of oil is ok... as long as you can see oil on the wire...  ;)

For me in the past, i just fill to hole level.

But that was smaller 150cc scooters, where the 100ml tube of gear oil was a one shot per service item.
