For those that might be interested, here is a simple and inexpensive fix for the oem top box rattle on the GT.
First, stuff some foam rubber between the bottom of the box and mounting bracket.
Then cut some one inch pieces of black electrical tape. Place tape on edge of box in the area where white lines are in picture. It may take 5-8 pieces per area. Add tape as needed to stop rattle.
This takes the slop out of the hinge pins.
I did this to mine and now it is quiet and shakes less.
Sorry for the funky picture.

Hey Boo, Here's a permanent fix that I did. That tape well get sticky in the heat. Pull the pins out and find something like a straw ( I used a piece of shrink tubing ) that well slide onto the pin. Put a little silicone grease on the pin so it can slide in the tubing. I then put a little gorilla glue on the tubing and push it into the hinge part of the top. While the top is off. Let it harden overnight and pull the pin out, trim off the excess tubing and now there's no slop in the hinge. Hope I explained it well enough .

Sounds good kidbuffalo.
More than one way to skin a cat.
I haven`t had any problems with my fix but, if I do later I will try your fix.
Thanks.

How about pulling the pin out.... using a vise, bend the pin just a little bit, just enough for the pin to be tight in the hinge....

I had this annoying problem of the top box rattle when I first got my 300gti last spring. I immediately bought a roll of closed cell 1/8" foam tape (about $2.00) and cut off enough to go around the entire box and just just stuffed it into the lower channel. It took all of 3 minutes to do, has stayed in place over a year and not only stopped the rattle but seems to make the box leak-proof as well.

Here's the fix.......Remove the box.

Here's a better fix...Buy a Shad SH40 Cargo top case like me. The supplied Kymco top case is fair @ best, It does the job, but it's pretty cheap overall IMHO.
