Title: Windscreen for the venox
Post by: max oradea on May 26, 2013, 11:16:54 AM
Hi guys after looking around i cam up with 2 screens that i am looking to get but cant decide which one will be better in looks and protection.
The small one i believe will keep the look of the bike and not cause too much resistance in high speed, and the bigger one... is bigger.
My problem is if the small one is too small to make a difference then i will go for the big one, but if the small one is enough to cover most of my chest then its ok.
Big>> http://www.louis.de/_107a9a8939c37b85ce270ac040f0235ba9/index.php?topic=artnr_gr&artnr_gr=10006553 (http://www.louis.de/_107a9a8939c37b85ce270ac040f0235ba9/index.php?topic=artnr_gr&artnr_gr=10006553)

as you can see my budget is around that area of 50GBP

I tried a screen for a while, but me personaly, I don't really like them. Sure, they might bust up the wind a bit, but to me it seemed to defeat the feeling of being on a bike in the first place. But hey, each to their own I reckon.

I dont have one so can only guess how it feels, Bob how big was your screen? Did you feel a difference?
If you can post a web picture of the screen you had i will be very much thankful.
And a call to kris! how is your bike doing after the service and how is your screen working out for you? I hope everything is well.

Hey there Max. Jump on to Bibble Bar.com.au. Look in the accessories section, and you'll see the exact screen that I bought It fitted heaps better on the Venox than it does on the bike in the picture. All though it did channel the wind from your body area pretty effectively, I found that you got a fair bit of helment buffeting. It's just the way that you sit upright on a cruiser I'm afraid. I've read a few articles in bike magazines saying similar on different bikes and different screens too.  But ... some people like them, some people don't.

I must get a windscreen on......I will be 65-70mph way too much not too. Im contemplating trying to fit the universal one I bought on, or just selling it and getting this:

It's just a bloody shame one of you guys doesn't live a bit closer, I've got a screen I would have given to you for free. It's funny, I tried it back on the pony today actually, after I'd cleaned up my highway bars and put them back on too. I took her for a little blatt to see if I'd changed my mind about it, but no .. although it does keep a lot of wind off your body, I just do not dig the helmet buffetting at all. So the screens off for good.  Here's the highway bars though Kris, you can get those from Tucmoto aswell.

Hey guys, I was dead set serious when I said you could have the screen for free ... You just have to pay the freight. It's pretty exy though. Last couple of times I got stuff sent over here from the States, they've stung me about sixty bucks !  Still, it would be "almost" worth your while, coz that tinted one was about, what, $130 plus post. This one's not tinted, but it's roughly the same shape and size. It's a pinch of piss to put on too, takes me all of ten to fifteen mins to put on, or in my case ... take off.  :D
Like I said, look on Bibble Bar.com.au. and you'll see the exact same screen.
Anyway, that's the best I can do for ya fellas. But your welcome to it if you want it, you've just got to get it to wherever you are.
Regards,
Hairy Bob.

HB, I will take you up on that offer! :) I do way too much highway riding not to have one, and that one looks quite big. How much does it weigh? and the dimensions of the box you can get it into(smallest is better)? I may be able to mail you a prepaid shipping label.

No wukkaz Kris, it's yours sport !  Just give me a bit of time to get it organized. I'll even quickly put it back on my bike in steps, and take photos as I go and send them with it  ... but like I said, it's a pinch of piss to put on. You never know your luck ... I might even a send postcard from the Goldy too, how's that !!   :D  Anyway, I'll keep you tuned amigo

Hey there Kris. Well, I've just taken the photos putting the screen on, so that's all good, and I scored a good sized box and packing material from work during the week. It's a long weekend here so I'll pack it up and take it to the post office on Tuesday to see how much to send it. You never know your luck, our post may be cheaper than U.S. overseas post. I'll let you know.
Regards, Hairy Bob.

Hey Kris, well ... just so you know I'm not full of crap, I've packed the screen up, I've enclosed the set up photos, I even got a couple of nice postcards for you aswell,  AND ... AND ... I even chucked in a genuine GOODTIME sticker for you, so how's that !!!
So I'll see what the post is tomorrow, and we'll go from there !

And hopefully if young Venoxboy is reading this ... This is the way things are done young fella, so take note !!

Title: Re: Windscreen for the venox

Righto Kris ... this is what the post office quoted me. $62.95 for normal air freight no tracking number, or $69.95 with a tracking number. Me personaly, I would get the tracking number for peace of mind. They both are 4-7 working days delivery. So our postal charges are just as savage as  U.S. post. That's prettywell the same as I've been charged the last couple of times I got stuff sent from the States. The box is 570 x 500 x 120mm, and weighs 2450g, so if you want to see if you can get a better freight deal from your end,  or if you feel comfortable enough to send me the money, and I'll post it ... it's up to you. I'll email my address to you, and I'll need yours.  Anyway, let me know what you come up with Kris.  And don't worry, mate I won't be offended if you change your mind .. the cost of the freight is a bloody joke hey. But you'll get your postcards regardless.  :D

Best regards,
The Hairy Bobster from down under.  8)

P.S. it might even be worthwhile checking with Fedex .. they can't be anymore expensive than the bloody post !!

$63 isnt too shabby, considering im still saving $70 my friend! I dont think I would be able to beat that price. Do you want me to send you the $ through paypal? Or how do you want to do it?
Title: Re: Windscreen for the venox

Hey there Kris. Yep, we can do it through paypal if you like. That way, you've got a record of payment. How does that work if they're paying me, I've only ever paid them for stuff ?   Are you going with or without a tracking number with the air freight ?
Title: Re: Windscreen for the venox
Post by: krisfnbs on June 12, 2013, 12:51:44 PM
sent. no tracking.

G'day trendsetters. Well ... you can't say ol Hairy Bob doesn't do what he says he's gunna do. Yer screen is on its way Kris. I reckon you should get it the end of next week, and I think you'll be very impressed with my packing job. It's dead easy to put on, just follow the photos and you'll be right. You should post a picture on the forum when you've put it on , so I can check your workmanship  ;). I chucked in two nice shots of my bike too for you to check out. They're from the weekend before last's ride. The postcards are of where I live, on the southern end of the Gold Coast. And don't forget about the Goodtime tattoo for her leg ... the bike you wombat, not your girl.  Hey, maybe we should start up the Goodtime Cruizer Club or something ! ;D
So anyway, matter transfer is happening as we speak gang.

Thanks HB... see that Racing Scooter sticker on my front... I think I'm also the only one with that here.... that was sent by a friend from this forum Zombie from Florida... If you look at the stats, he was the number two in terms of posts here more than 6,000, I think... But he's not active anymore... I don't know why... he just left...
