Title: Newbie looking at a 2000 sc10as ZX50
Post by: GTP on August 03, 2009, 04:54:56 PM
Hello all. I am looking at a model year 2000 sc10as Zx50.  Can anyone give me the scoop on performance issues with this model and performance parts (same as other ZX50s?) and a good supplier?  Moped Hospital?  Thanks all.

There are little bits of information here and there on the internet, but not much.

I just recently bought a used ZX and am right in the middle of making upgrades.
I've purchased most of my upgrades from e-bay, although I did just recently (today) buy a drive belt from Mopedhospital.com.

I believe that all of the zx50's are the same.  You can get parts for them pretty easily.  I have gotten mine locally from the dealer, moped hospital, and provoscooter.com.  As for issues, I haven't had too many.  I have replaced the voltage regulator twice.  Other than that, just normal maintanance.  Keep an eye on the oil pump, I have heard of those going.   Mine started leaking a bit.  I have done a lot of upgrading at this point so I just disconnected it and run premix to be safe.  I have heard of a lot of CDI issues, but I have not had any.  I am still running my stock (deresricted) one with over 12000 kms.  I thought it was bad, turned out to be the voltage regulator though.  All around I love it!
