Might want to check and see if there is a collet inserted into the airbox intake too. If so, take it out!
My Like 50 4T had it.

Hey Glennza,

Wondering if you fitted the Naraku variator yet and how it performs...

Thanks!
--Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Yep, had it fitted for a couple of weeks now. It came with 'standard' rollers (9.5gm, I think) so I ordered some 5.5gm ones too. Tried the 9.5's first; acceleration was about the same but the power transfer felt a lot smoother - revs didn't change at all as speed picked up. Nice! Also, seems a lot less rattley?

This is the one I bought. Good price but postage is a bitch!

Then had a go with the 5.5gm rollers. I picked those ones cos they seemed to be the most popular weight with forum members. Have to say I didn't like them! Quicker takeoff but it took forever to hit top speed. I have now mix n matched three of the 9.5's and 3 of the 5.5's. Feels about right to me but not so smooth with mixed rollers in. Will order some 6.5's or 7's when I can be bothered.

At the same time, I removed the airbox and fitted a direct-flow air filter. Also upjetted from .78 (standard) to .85. Feels like there's a lot more power but it's very noisy!

This is a 42mm fitting. It's a loose fit but does tighten up well. I suspect it really need to be 40mm. Fits directly (with a bit of encouragement).

Hope that's useful! Glenn

Have you tried them direct on their website rather than their ebay site?

Heres a link anyway in case you dont have it http://www.exportstrength.com/contact_us.php

Can only see the Like 50 (2 stroke) 2009> listed on their site, are you sure its a 4t?

Thanks for that! Deffo a 4T. Gave up in the end and ordered a Naraku race variator, bit more expensive but it did state that it would fit the Like 50 4T. Looking forward to testing it out!!!!

Technical | How To / Race Variator for Like 50 4T?
« on: September 07, 2011, 11:29:46 PM »
Hi folks,

I have been looking for a race variator for my Like 50 4T but am not sure which is the right one. I found this on Scooter Assassins eBay store...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RACE-VARIATOR-KYMCO-SUPER-9-Bet-Win-People-50-/280644977964?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4157be852c

Does the Like 50 have the same engine as any other scooter and are the parts interchangable?

Also, what is the diameter of the air intake on the carb? I suspect it might be 42mm but am not sure.

Thanks for helping!!!

Thanks for that. 1000km service due soon. I will ask them to do that

..or you could adjust it yourself and save some bucks....

I've never tried that before. Tried googling for instructions but wasn't able to find anything. I thought the jet had to be replaced rather than adjusted? How do you know what size to use? I read about someone drilling it out but if you get it wrong, you're stuffed. Would be happy to give it a go if you want to advise :)

Yes, you will need to upjet to compensate for the extra airflow. If you get a larger filter, you will need to upjet also.

Thanks for that. 1000km service due soon. I will ask them to do that.

I removed the collet from the air intake. After doing so the scoot is running like a dog. I have been trying to adjust the mix but can't seem to get it right. Particularly when cold it won't develop any power now. Not so bad once it warms up. If anyone else has removed the collet can you tell me how many turns you have set the pilot screw.

Hey guys,

I got my 1,000 Km Service done today, pretty reasonable @ $101.00.

My service also cost $101. Coincidence or are we going to the same place? GC Motorcycles in Adelaide. Are we neighbours?

The restricted drive boss will be swapped out at first service. Will need to work out how to do the CDI mod.

11
If you can go over 65 klm or 45 mph you should be de restricted, you may need to be going down hill to do this.

Nope, can't go faster than 65kmh. Wonder how the OP went with his mod?

I have the same Australian model black Like 50 4T, now one week old. The dealer told me that it did not have a restricted CDI. How can I tell? Please excuse my ignorance, I haven't been on a bike in over twenty years.
