General Discussion / KYMCO'S EXTENDED WARRANTY...
« on: June 04, 2019, 02:27:19 PM »
Hey all.  I'm not sure if anyone has had experience with this, and I thought I'd reach out before going on a wild goose chase with Kymco and/or my dealer figuring this out.  But, I recently purchased from a Kymco dealer, a new 2017 People 300GTi which came with a 36 Month Kymco Extended warranty included in the purchase price.  The dealer put that info on the bill of sale, but I haven't heard from either the dealer or Kymco that the warranty is in place.  I suppose my questions are as follows...

1) If I don't receive something from Kymco, is the warranty active?
2) Is there something I need to do to activate the extended warranty and if so, what?
3) If there is something I need to follow-up on, who should I reach out to first... the dealer, or Kymco.

Any constructive info you can provide would be most appreciated.  REGARDS!!!

People GT 300i / I THOUGHT I'D GET BY WITH THE STOCK STORAGE BUT...
« on: April 19, 2019, 07:09:57 PM »
...already that didn't work out.  I use a backpack to carry my work clothes, shoes, towel, & toiletries to the gym.  That fits snugly in the top case, and the under-seat storage has my paperwork, a rag, tire gauge, multi-tool, tire repair kit, and some other stuff.  This leaves no room for anything else, and I'm not strapping that backpack on my person while riding. So I bought these saddlebags...

Not a bad price and I got a code for 25% off, but the $25 flat fee shipping is a little ridiculous.  All in all, $58 for saddlebags isn't all that bad and I'll get some good use out of them, for sure.

That is a very good price! How long was shipping?

Ordered March 30, received April 9 - about 10 days.

I bought it off someone because they didn't want it anymore and it states that the warranty isn't transferable.

That doesn't pass the smell test to me.  Here's a link to Kymco's USA Warranty Policy... pay attention to Section 11.

https://www.kymcousa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/KYMCO-USA_WarrantyPolicyManual_v09_20-11-2011-2.pdf

It clearly states the warranty is assigned to the bike, not the owner and then goes on to explain what must be done in the event of a change in ownership.

People GT 300i / GOT LUCKY ON A PUIG TRAFIC (6870W) WINDSCREEN...

Found one on Amazon (actually came from Amazon Global UK) - $75.27 delivered.

Installation took about an hour - I just followed the diagram and hand-tightened everything.  Then I snugged everything up, made adjustments, and tightened everything down.  With no actual instructions, I'm almost certain I'll be adjusting something later on but right now it looks right.  ???

THANKS FOR THE WELCOME EVERYONE!!!

Welcome!
Pix of the scoot?

Stig

No pics yet... other than riding it home on Saturday 3/30, it's been in the garage (that was a beautiful day, but now it's cold again and I don't like riding in the cold... just not enjoyable).  I'll take some photos when the weather gets nicer and I'm out and around the NJ shore area pretty soon.

General Discussion / New To The Forum, Just Thought I'd Say, HEY!
« on: April 01, 2019, 03:07:20 PM »
Hey everyone, my name is Dennis and I'm new to the forum.  I live in Monmouth County NJ, close to Sandy Hook National Seashore.

A little history on my bike ownership... My first ride was a Burgman 650 Exec that I loved, especially because it was a great highway commuter.  I sold the Burgman and bought a VStar 1300 Tourer.  The VStar was a terrific bike in almost every respect except that it's big and heavy and not something that handles easily around town.  I didn't ride it that much; I wasn't commuting on a bike anymore, the opportunities for me to take long leisurely weekend rides with friends were few and far between, and I never wanted to take it out to ride around town.  So I just sold that, and found a Kymco dealer within a reasonable distance from my house that had a good amount of inventory on the sales floor I was interested in purchasing:

2014 MyRoad 700i with 800 miles on it (new as far as I was concerned)
2017 People GT 300i - NEW
2018 X-Town 300i ABS
2018 Xciting 400i ABS

It was a toss-up between the Xciting 400i and the People GT 300i.  I ended up buying the People GT 300i.  There was almost a $2000 difference between the two, and the performance bump wasn't worth the extra $$$ for me (they took $900 off the list price because it was a 2017, and Kymco threw in 2 extra years on the warranty - 4 years total).  If I wanted to pay that kind of $$$ I would have also considered a Piaggio BV350 or the new Yamaha XMAX.

I like that it has a true 300cc engine, 16" tires, and it's super light.  I love that it includes the top box, but hate that it's included because the under-seat storage sucks.  I'm not crazy about where the fuel filler is, but it wasn't a deal-breaker.  Plus, I like the styling... more like an Italian scooter and less like a sporty scooter.

Gotta say that the drive home was fun.  The 16" tires really make a difference with the irregularities in the road, the power is more than adequate for the state highways and county roads I'll be riding on, and it's pretty terrific around town... something that I'll WANT to ride all the time and commute with again.  I was a little taken aback about the amount of vibration I was feeling while it was idling, but this is my first single cylinder scoot and I understand that it's normal.

Anyway, that's all I got.  I'm looking forward to reading all your interesting posts and insights.  Thanks for reading through.  DENNIS
