MXU / Re: MXU 700i, anyone with a snow plow?
« on: March 08, 2019, 08:13:58 PM »
So replying to my own thread ........

Just to help folks out in the future who may be looking at plow kits.  WARN makes a good kit, their PROVANTAGE line.   No part number is listed for the 700i so they will tell you they do not make one, but they do.  If you wish to use a front mounted plow kit (instead of the mid-mount) the warn part# is 86142.  Just look for the provantage front mount 86142 and you can then use the standard front mount push tube and plow size of your choice.

This is the same part# as the old MXU 500i, the frame must be the same. So if you find a mount for a 500i, it will fit the 700i.

MXU / MXU 700i, anyone with a snow plow?
« on: February 20, 2019, 10:50:15 PM »
I am about to pull the trigger on an MXU 700i that is a leftover 2017 for a pretty good price.  I want to use it to plow snow for a VERY long driveway.  Can anyone recommend a plow setup?  I see a bunch of WARN kits for $400, does anyone have one and does the universal mount seem to work?  I think I will go with a center mount for strength, but would prefer the ease of a front mount, just read of some cracked parts with front mount.  Any suggestions helpful, thanks in advance!

I actually called that guy once to try to negotiate a (phony) deal just to see what his price was.  He is at $3300 for new, plus $300 prep as far as I could tell, would not budge from there.  Which is kind of funny because just a couple years ago he was trying to sell old four year old leftover Kymco Xciting 250's at list price.

One guy called me and tried to offer me $1700 for it and quoted Heinen's and I told him, "Well, yeah thats a good deal, but if you think a used one with less than 2000 miles on it is only worth $1700, than I guess you'd be buying something for $3600 that is worth only $1700 when you walk out the door with it."

I tried to price it fair, but I don't mind having it around or need to sell it that bad because it serves as a bike for my 2 friends can go for a day long ride with me who have a license and no bike. I will see if anyone offers something that entices me, or it stays.  The only reason I really would part with it is garage space.   If somebody does not mind a few miles to save off the new price, cool, if not cool too.  My wife wants it gone more than I do.

I'd like to talk a friend into the Scooter Cannonball 2016.

This is the best picture of the worst of the scratches I can take, neither camera I have does well in macro mode and I am not much of a phototagrapher.  You can see a squiqqle at about the center of the panel right above the crease.  (Right above the word "neither" in this post) And there was a scratch through the paint (the Kymco paint is super thin) on the very far left edge that has been touched up.  There is also a scuff on one of lowest bronze panel just above where you would pull your feet into riding position, and a scratch on the top portion of the tail underneath the plate for fixing a top box to.

For the price, I guess I would classify all as minor, but everybody has their own view of things.

Yes, 500f.   Nice little bike and not too much to handle.  I started with the Kymco at 43, and decided to progress a little to a starter bike and it is a nice machine.  I also wanted ABS.  I still take the Kymco out to keep it fresh, and I don't think the US population realizes what fun scooters are and how effortless they are to ride around town.  All the motorcycle reviews talked about how "flickable" the Honda is, and I am not taking anything away from it, but the scooter is far more nimble with the smaller wheels.

That is my Craigslist ad.  Scratches happened in the garage.  Some stuff was getting moved around in the garage and it got tipped against the drywall.  All in all it looks pretty good, but I like my stuff to look perfect so...  its there but has been touched up.   If you were four feet away you would probably not be able to see it.

Not great pictures in the ad but I can take a shot of something specific is anybody wants one.  I will see if I can get the scratch to show up in a photo and post it in the next day or two.

Bumping.  Still for sale if anyone is around MN.  I bought the motrocycle.

While I like the motorcycle, enjoy it and want to do a little short touring, I have to say, the Kymco is actually more fun around town and a blast to ride.  I will miss it.

If anyone is looking for a used one in MN, I have 2011 with 2000 miles on it for $2500.  A couple scratches but otherwise good condition. Runs great, just took it on a 200 mile ride down the St Croix.  Selling to get a motorcycle.

Downtown 300 / Re: Effect of Worn Rollers
« on: February 28, 2014, 07:48:39 PM »
I am sure someone will correct me but I thought warn rollers could get flat spots and gummed up and would not roll as easily, the end result is slower performance and perhaps due to not being at the optimal ratio as much as they should, slightly lower gas mileage.

Downtown 300 / Re: Best motorcycle Jacket for summer
« on: November 22, 2013, 09:26:08 PM »
I have a tour master Air Intake model jacket.  They can be pricey, but they are on version 3 of the jacket and can sometimes find leftover Intake 2 series jacket for cheaper.

It is a heavy mesh jacket with very good armor and padding.  It also has a rain liner, and a cold weather liner that can be used together or separately.  It is good for cold, warm and rainy weather as well as protective from crashes.

Comes in lots of different colors and has lots of reflectivity as well.

Downtown 300 / Re: Kymco builds a Kawasaki version of the Downtown 300i

It looks like the seat is higher in front and the saddle back is back further,. better for us tall people,.

I dunno, it looks the same to me, but I would suppose if it is different you will soon be able to buy one from Kawasaki and swap, and Kymco could actually consider selling it as an aftermarket option for the Downtown.

I have an unofficial living will that allows family and friends to thump me over the head and spread my ashes somewhere nice if I:

lose my memory/faculties,
if I lose my mobility,
if I am hooked up to life support,
and if I start listening to country music.

It is just not for me.   ;D

I have only seen a couple bikes on the road with modulators.  You pick them up RIGHT AWAY.  Nearly impossible to miss, except by those Americans suffering from cranial-rectal insertion disorder.
