People 250 / Suzuki gz 250 more or less speed/power
« on: June 01, 2013, 08:41:40 PM »
I'm thinking of buying a 2000 gz250 motorcycle. If anyone has ridden one and can compare to the speed and power of the
P250 I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

People 250 / Re: Rattle, rattle!
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:34:19 PM »
Well, it took six months but I finally found my rattle. It had always sounded like the glass in my left rear view mirror was loose or that there was a piece of broken off plastic tab jumping around somewhere in the dash. Had the dash apart at least half a dozen times but never found anything loose.  Turned out to be the back piece of the front fender wasn't fitted into a slot-like bracket before the shop tightened it up after putting on a new tire. The tab part was sitting either above or below the bracket instead of inside it. Guess the sound echoed up and out of the dash area. Persistence can pay off! Riding is fun again!

People 250 / Rattle, rattle!
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:18:50 PM »
Hi, My P250 developed a rattle which sounds like it's coming from the front left somewhere around the left mirror. Just had the whole scoot apart for maintenance and when I first took it back out the rattle was gone. However, after about an hour of riding I hear it starting to come back. I swear everything is tightened down! Anybody have any thoughts on this one? I thank you and Scarlett thanks you. Go Bucks!

People 250 / slammed into a speed bump hard!
« on: June 27, 2012, 11:14:22 PM »
I slammed my beloved Scarlett into a speed bump fairly hard yesterday and later went on a two hour ride. I seemed to be feeling small bumps more than ever and on the way back noticed a nasty front wheel wobble like those mentioned on other posts. Happens while holding handlebars loosely while decelerating from about 40 mph down through about 35 mph. Also felt floorboard vibration more than ever before. Front rim doesn't look bent. Could I have knocked the steering bearings out of place? Steering itself feels fine but I never had this wobble before hitting the speed bump. Can steering bearings cause a wobble without affecting steering otherwise? Thanks for any input.

People 250 / Impressing the big bikes!

Went on a four hour ride today from Columbus to Mohican State Park in Ohio and back with 12 other riders. Most were on big Harleys, Suzukis, Yamahas. I was the only scooter.  At the first stop about 45 minutes in they all wanted to know what size engine was. Next stop, many were amazed that I was keeping up with ease. By the end of the ride they were all impressed by the little scooter that could!  I love my P250!

I want to install an led brake strip but can't figure out how to reach the wiring for the tail and brake light. What all do I have to remove in order to reach them? Thanks!

This worked for somebody else once. Does anybody know where to find an original P250 windshield in very good condition?

Husband bought me a $65 MotoCentric bag the other day. Basically a mini backpack and it wasn't a very good fit. Today I went to a Goodwill store and found an insulated cooler/lunchbox type bag that when flipped upside down is a near perfect fit. Vents aren't blocked and all I need is a bit of velcro that I already have.  This is my first bike. Hubbie got it for me on our 25th wedding anniversary. What a great guy!

I want to buy or craft some type of tunnel bag for my 2007 P250 but am concerned about covering up those 2 vents that are located where the back of a tunnel bag would ordinarily sit against.  Does anybody know if those vents actually serve some purpose?  I can't find any info about them on the service manual/owners info.
