People s200 / Re: Top speed for an S 200

Howdy,

I'm currently scooterless. The S200 appears to be an attractive candidate for my next scoot; hopefully I'll get one this Summer, finances permitting.
I'm a few pounds past 250 and want a simple, reliable scoot for urban commuting and errands. My last scoot was a peppy 125cc Daelim which could get up to 60 mph! I also enjoyed employing it as a 2 wheeled truck; that is, It was good for groceries.
My nearest Kymco dealers are 60 and 75 miles away, respectively. I wonder if 55 mph would be realistically possible for a 265 lb. rider?

i weigh 250 plus 10 for clothing, helmets etc. I have a full size windshield. I can do a real 55 mph (on the speedo) against the wind and up to 10 more (on the speedo) with the wind.

Foster G, i have ridden my People s200 about 1.5 hours each way in one day on Interstate roads. I have a large windshield and weigh 250. I can pretty much get to 55 mph in any wind but WITH the wind can go up to 10 mph more. I ride this scoot all over town for short rides. For me the speed is adequate for an interstate road but just barely. Vibration does make me uncomfortable. And I would appreciate some more lower back support for longer rides. I stopped once for gas on each leg of the trip.

Bottom line is i would pick a bigger scooter or a real motorcycle for serious touring. For me I would be concerned about the usual touring issues like vibration, good back support, a good suspension and some form of speed control that let me take my hand off the throttle from time to time. I would take a hard look at the new 2012 Honda scooter coming out or the big BMW 650 cc 2013 model due for release later this year.

Reaching the cable under the plastic did release the seat latch. I tightened up the mounting screws for the seat latch mechanism and everything is working.
Thanks to everyone who responded. This is exactly what I hoped would happen when I joined the Forum.

Try pushing down on the seat while turning the key in the lock . Worth a shot . Good luck .
Thanks Juice. My wife had the same idea. So far it hasn't worked. Somewhere I may have a broken cable.

Agility 50 / Seat Catch Failure
« on: April 21, 2012, 05:09:05 PM »
Scooter is working fine BUT yesterday I turned the key to pop the seat lock to get at my helmet and nothing happened - no release of the latch. I saw a Utube video of a guy who showed you how to emove the taillight assembly (two screws) and access the latch and release it. Works on his scooter brand but not mine. Can NOT do that on the Agility 50 because only the front seat pops up. the rear seat is fixed and the taillight, once removed, does not give any access.

So problem # 1 is how to get the seat to release. I am contemplating 2 solutions. One is exposing the key cyclinder contacts and using a short piece of wire to short together any two of the contacts. This might work if the failure was in the key cyclinder. Two, I start removing bodywork by taking out the rear seat to see if I can slip a piece of flat metal into the latch and release it. Next choice is remove a lot of body parts.

Problem # 2 is figuring out if the real problem is with the latch, the key cyclinder or the connecting cable.  There has been no trouble or accidents with this scooter which is a 2009 model.
