LIKE 200i / Two-tone top case?
« on: September 06, 2015, 05:00:45 PM »
Hi, I was just idly surfing the interwebs and noticed photos of two tone (black bottom and fill in the blank color top) versions.  Anyone have a source for these Kymco top cases with the (imho) better-looking color scheme?  My 2013 Like 200i red has an all red top case and would look cleaner with the two tone black and red case.  And, no,  not a trashed, crashed scooter one from Fleabay...

Related question, how big of an aftermarket top case (liter size) can you put on the back of the Like before you look silly?  I just wanted one that fits a full face (modular) helmet and found I can only fit a 3/4 on the Like.

Thanks Stig!
I knew you had the resources to find out what those wires were meant for.

Hi.  Thanks for the reply.

My scooter does not have a light fixture under the seat.  Maybe the LX version does?

I do have a built-in DC "cigarette lighter" outlet in the tiny glove box cavern.  As a matter of fact, I tried using it today with my cell phone and did not get to fully test it for ability because the glove box panel closes with the same key as the ignition.  So the scooter is off and (presumably not charging) when the box is open :-\

I will look into it a little further.

Ok - found another wire function - the green wrapped one (aka the pink wire) in my photo is called a "TPS/ISC reset wire" for purposes of resetting the engine check code computer.  This is per Stig, king of all things Kymco, in a previous thread about resetting codes.

Now all I need to know is what the white two prong connector does and I can go to sleep tonight.   ;)

Hi all.  I have been tooling around these past weeks, easing my way up to the magic 1000 mile mark on my (new-to-me) 2013 Like 200i. It's color is give-me-a-ticket red ;D.

Today, I took off a few pieces to see if I could access the spark plug without taking off the seat bucket - answer: yes; just pop the front access panel.  Then I moved on to install a battery tender pigtail for later this winter when the scooter sits in the garage unused for a month or two.

That's when I saw these three cables sticking out. I am not sure if the photo I took will show up attached here as the preview does not show it.  There is a black one, next to a white one with two prongs and a green sleeved one.  Now, I see from a previous forum conversation, the larger black one is for the engine diagnostic hookup - but what are the other two stray wires for?

Also, I noted that the time clock on the instrument panel did not get reset when I unplugged the battery to do the pig tail.  I assume it has its own battery under the speedo area, right?

General Discussion / Re: How much insurance needed for my Kymco 150?
« on: July 04, 2015, 07:11:36 PM »
Hi, new forum member here.  I live in Northern California in a big city.  I just got a 2013 Like200i with 850 miles on it and am flipping a Chinese 150cc gy6 (hopefully today!)

Geico talked me into upping my insurance from liability only to comp/collision when I called about the new scooter.  I went up to 300k/600k all coverage and $100 deductible plus towing!
$183 a year for both scooters or $132 for just the Kymco when I sell the other scooter.   I consider that pretty decent for way better coverage than my cars and piece of mind.  No safety course in my record but I am a safe driver with no violations or accidents in 25 years.

I also got a decent quote for AAA insurance but this was better.  Shop around and good luck!
