Downtown 300 / Be Safe Be Seen
« on: February 20, 2012, 10:54:34 PM »
As the subject suggests, "Be Safe Be Seen" and as a fairly new rider especially on the 300i, which is why I write this here instead of a miscellaneous area. I do not suggest to buy from this store as I do but merely point out a new type of store to meet a safety conscious  persons needs. I have been purchasing anything that will get me seen better/quicker and am not ashamed to use it. The Hi Viz Color is of course as shown in the photo I attached. Personally, I have the gloves, vests, stickers and many other items. I do not know the owner as a friend I push for but merely know him in meeting when I discovered the store. I almost purchased the Hi Viz Helmet but couldn't afford it at the time. Remember.....BE SAFE BE SEEN.  http://hivizstore.com/store/street-wear-active-wear

Downtown 300 / 39-41 Degrees Out With My 300i
« on: February 20, 2012, 08:57:17 PM »
It was a bright sunny day, clear sky, no snow or rain, no wind and an inviting day for a much awaited winter ride. Well with the 300 shielding most of the legs, the windshield covering approximately to neck level, helmet with the 3/4 face shield, linered jacket, good gloves and the desire to get out, it was for a great afternoon!. Wasn't cold other than just a bit under the jaw area. The bright sun helped one think it was a cool summer day only. I was surprised in not seeing any other 2 wheelers of kind on the road but I didn't let it bother me. Camera gear in my side cases went along the river and other places just enjoying the day. Reading about riders going out on cold days, I decided to try it and was not sorry. If I didn't have all the shielding, I would have been cold,

Downtown 300 / Space Age Look!
« on: January 22, 2012, 02:12:40 PM »
And many remarks from the young groups...just that..."Space Age Look". First question always, what kind is that? Most all comments, "what a neat looking ride". Wonder if any 300i owners north of Pittsburgh, around New Kensington, PA? Would like to start a scooter club but am not sure there are enough scooter owners in the area.

Downtown 300 / My 300i Happy To Have
« on: January 22, 2012, 01:46:59 PM »
Haven't been on here for months but through these months before the cold/snow, had a summer of fun with it. Looked forward everyday to get into the garage, and ready for another leisure ride. Previously on this forum, I gained a good bit of knowledge before I even went out far on my own. I appreciate this forum and the helpful/knowledgeable advice and cautions. With the 46 box and two small side bags, I carry my water, camera binoculars and other useful ride items. I will retire soon and I will make further great use of this 300i!

General Discussion / How does one post pictures on here?
« on: July 21, 2011, 12:10:35 AM »
A while back, I posted photos on here .jpg and very small size as required, no problem. For weeks now, I have attempted to do so again and keep getting an ERROR, the upload is full contact administrator or reduce size. The sizes have been very small and I wanted to contact whom ever in charge of the forum to ask but haven't found that. Can some please tell me what is going on with this anymore and how to get photos on here?.....Thanks

General Discussion / 300i and small pizza
« on: July 06, 2011, 01:36:57 PM »
A small pizza box is too large to fit into the Givi 46 so, the last few times we call for pizza we ask them to place it in two boxes which they do. The two boxes fit nicely in the Givi 46. Each time I go to the pizza shop, all the employees come out to see the scooter and watch their pizza fit into a scooter compartment! Yes, I add two bucks for them doing so. One thing to be aware of though, if the pizza is too hot going into the scooter, the toppings will shift! Further, ask them not to slice the half in each box being if there is a shift much of it will shift on the pizza instead of the bottom of the box. Oh and by the way, the scooter box will help keep the pizza warm somewhat! Anyone Hungry!

General Discussion / Oil Filters for 300i
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:48:41 PM »
Went to my dealer today and for the heck of it asked if they had any oil filters for the 300i. None in stock therefore ordered me 2 at 6 apiece. I only mention this being I recall the filters were difficult to obtain a while back. I am still going to use the Suzuki 4-cycle Synthetic Racing Motorcycle Oil SAE 10W-40 which I have in now.

General Discussion / Ride for homeless Vets
« on: May 25, 2011, 08:40:38 AM »
Coming up this June 12th as last year is the "ride for homeless vets". Last year I followed them to the local VFW's and shot pix's for them. I didn't do the long ride they had taken being I had but the Peoples S 200 and I couldn't keep up comfortably on some of the major roads. There must have been 250 to 300 bikers mainly motor cycles but a bunch of scooters also. This ride is for the homeless vets of Pittsburgh and turned out really well. This year I'll have the 300i therfore can ride and keep up. Gonna have some fun using the GoPro Camera but thinking about what mount I want to use...helmet, windshield or......? If some have an interest in photography check out the site... www.gopro.com. I haven't been diving for years now but this would have been great...good up to 180 feet deep. Of course a light would really be needed also. I ordered the head strap mount also for after ride takes.

General Discussion / Scooter's Definetly Catching on.
« on: May 08, 2011, 08:34:22 PM »
I live in an area North of Pittsburgh and back when till today one would see many motorcycle's here and there. Well, This year, I am seeing a build up of scooter's. Nothing in particular from little nothing to some larger one's. In visiting the dealership  in my area, I see different size Kymco's leaving the dealership in the last month. Looking forward to seeing more DT 300i's to get on the road around here being they have one in the service room yet in the box and quite a few ordered. I'll say again.....my riding around town and this area has presented a different/great look to scooter owning. I am bragging here about mine and enjoy telling asker's about it. People can't miss me with the Silver helmet, white/black jacket and the new green vest over top of that. I know the black helmet would be a bit too hot for me. Some close friend's ask me, "what in the world do you need a scooter for"? My answer, when you reach a certain age in life one need's something to excite them and this is mine!! They go off thinking.......! I'm in my own little world when I go out with my water bottle and camera gear. When I was a kid my two wheeler went everywhere and I mean many miles. Today, I can go many miles and not get leg cramp's! I would enjoy going off with another Kymco rider but that is yet to be found here...but I think there're coming!

General Discussion / Pizza, Cycle, Box, People
« on: May 08, 2011, 01:23:57 PM »
Yes, I'll explain that! Phone call in for a small Pizza ready in 20 minutes, telling them about the scooter pickup! Arrived at the shop, thought the V46 Givi Box would take the "small" Pizza. Pulled into the front of the shop and a handfull of people came out with one of the girl's carrying my Pizza. We found the Pizza box would not fit into the V46 and they immediately went in an doubled up into a smaller box which fit. Further, people come out looking over the scooter remarking "wow" what a great looking bike. I mean theyh stayed asking all sort's of question's. Especially one man who stayed longer than anyone else who was immensley impressed. He was certain in wanting to purchase one of these. Went on to the dealership after all this, found they have another DT in the box just coming in and further have a bunch of them on order.....great! Am Planning on buying 50 lb of Bird Seed and if I am correct V46 Givi means Liter's and converted that means 12 gallon. If I am thinking right, 12 gallon would be like 2 5 gallon can's and some for area therefore I should be able to place a strong black bag into the box and pour in the 50 lb of seed, of course tightning up the bab as I go! Any thought's !!

General Discussion / "From Outer Space Scooter"!
« on: April 25, 2011, 11:04:45 PM »
Well, I had to title this photo....being you note the "quote", people seing it coment as such! I mean they really like it and am proud to be the owner. I am happy I stayed with the Black, White and Silver color combination. The Red plastic Reflector's on the Back of the Givi V46 Box really extend the look's. Am I bragging, why not, this unit around here is surely different and even the young Ninja Rider's give it a big look. Now if service and maintenance coinside with the great look's, I'll enjoy this for sometime. "Just Like Downtown".

The 19th Post was "Tool Bag or Whatever For DT 300i". These are the photo's of the installed luggage. Note the straps are holding on vertically. e is an option on the mount to have them horizontal or vertical.

Downtown 300 / New Oil For My DT 300i at 405 miles
« on: April 22, 2011, 01:55:49 PM »
In riding around and passing the service center I stopped and asked if they were busy. I'm off this day and had time and they said they had time to service my DR 300i. Here's how is went......The noise in the front end when going over a bumpy area was found and said to be normal coming from the floating rotor area.....and is normal....?? They aligned my handle bars with the front wheel being the handle bar's was to the left and the wheel straight ahead. The oil change after asking and checking all over the place, I decided to go with straight sythetic. With this oil change, the hammer drill type noise I experienced has gotten less intense.....smoother somewhat. I am attaching a pix of the oil label I chose.

General Discussion / Tool Bag Or Whatever For DT 300i
« on: April 19, 2011, 08:18:13 AM »
I wanted some extra space for small quick item's without over-doing the cosmetic's of the DT 300i. Looking around I found the TourMaster CRlll Nylon Toolbag. I selected this particular bag  being on the back of it, it's mounting strap's can be positioned either in a vertical or horizontal postion for tie down to the horizontal bars on the Back of the DT Rail's. I purchased the Nylon Style being they match up better with the scooter and are not so stiff as the leather one's. About possible rubbing, I placed velcro (soft side) patche's on the part's of the bag that will rest against the rail. I don't have them on yet but will shoot pix's to display on here. To view this particular bag.... http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?productid=310&cat=0&page=   I'll use mine for probably the water bottle some quick tool's or whatever these handy bag's will hold.
