General Discussion / Bummed out
« on: August 30, 2021, 08:43:00 PM »
I  thought the dealer in Schenectady had a x-town on the floor. Turns out he didn't. He was about 150 miles away, and I was going to ride it home. I see some dealers will ship scooters anywhere, but I'm a little wary of doing that. It's too bad Kymco doesn't keep a national inventory listing somewhere. Looks like any thought of a new scoot are dashed.

General Discussion / New old member
« on: August 29, 2021, 08:42:26 AM »
My name is Mike Haggerty, and I live in Syracuse, NY. I first joined this forum back in 2010. I first had a People 150, then moved up to a 300 GTI. I sold it to poppajim back in 2017. Now it 2021, and I've decided to buy another scooter. I'm 77 now, but still get around pretty well and really miss my scooter. I'm thinking about a new X-Town 300i ABS. I'm looking for some feedback on how you folks like this model. My E-mail is mrmikesdeuce@aol.com. Please give me a shout with your comments.

People GT 300i / Fair asking price?
« on: September 27, 2016, 05:32:03 PM »
I'm thinking of selling my GTI300. I'm 73 years old and hardly ride it anymore. It's a 2012 with about 4500 miles. Grey, Biondi windshield, Shad topbox, Michelin City Grips, Garmin GPS, two helmets. I live in Central New York (Syracuse), and was wondering what a fair asking price would be?

People GT 300i / RE: Service manual
« on: April 15, 2016, 09:34:41 PM »
I just had a forum member contact me about a service manual. He saw a earlier post from me regarding them. I think he was under the impression that I was giving them away. In reality I burn a copy to disc and mail it to the requesting member. I charge $8.00 to cover the cost of the disc, shipping package, and postage. This just covers my expenses, and is a non-profit venture. I do it to help out DIY'ers like myself. If anyone is interested, send me a private message, and I'll get one to you.

Technical | How To / Valve adjustment due?
« on: July 14, 2015, 10:26:07 PM »
I have a 2012 GTI300. It currently has 3500 miles on it. I've changed the rollers to Dr Pulley sliders (14g), and changed the engine and rear end oil several times using full synthetic. The scooter is running like a top and I'm very pleased with it. The question is about valve adjustment. At what point should I check it? If it ain't broke, don't fix it, or check it anyway?

Technical | How To / LED bulbs
« on: June 14, 2015, 10:00:40 AM »
In January 2013 I bought 2 LED tower bulbs. I installed them on my GTI300 as running lights where the European turn signals go. I noticed the other night that they now are different levels of brightness from each other. Some of the strips of lights no longer work so the brightness levels vary. Is this the normal way these bulbs wear out, or do I have another problem? Any experiences, thoughts, or suggestions?

Technical | How To / Hair Dryer vs. Heat Gun
« on: January 21, 2015, 06:17:59 PM »
I want to split apart the handlebar covers to install a new headlight. It's been suggested to heat the plastic to help prevent the tabs from breaking. Question is whether a heat gun will be too hot and distort the plastic, or just stick with a hair dryer?

Technical | How To / Tupperware help.
« on: January 11, 2015, 01:18:16 PM »
I originally posted in the GTI300 section, but thought I would seek help from ALL forum members. I have a 2012 GTI300. I want to change the headlamp. I have removed my Biondi and factory windshields, my mirrors, and I believe all the screws and nuts holding the handlebar cover in place. The problem seems to be the tabs holding the two cover halves together. They are very tight with no apparent give at all. Am I missing a step or are they always this tight. I don't want to break anything if possible, but if I have to, I will buy a new rear cover and take a dremel to the old one. Any help or suggestions out there???

People GT 300i / Stiffed
« on: September 03, 2014, 11:07:47 AM »
If any of you know Kbshaq on this forum, tell him thank you for stiffing me. He E-mailed me requesting a copy disc for the 300GTI service manual. I mailed it right out to him in California and that's the last I heard from him. The $5.00 is no big deal, but dishonesty is.
