Super 9 / So,I changed the clutch springs...*UPDATE*
« on: July 15, 2012, 04:07:33 AM »
As some of you know from other thread,I was thinking of getting a clutch, and some of you recommended I change spings first. So since I got a spare clutch with the new/used pulley set I bought,I decided to try wordslinger's method using a small flat tip screwdriver. It worked great for taking them off but the shaft wasn't skinny enough to put them back so I used a spanner type screwdriver to push the spring hook over the hole it goes in....worked pretty slick too.So after a quick few shorts runs,I'm now launching in the powerband, somewhere between 8500 to 9000 rpm and staying there until it starts to top out then it keeps climbing until I hit top speed. So now the question is,how much would a new aftermarket clutch improve takeoff beyong this? I'm just debating whether it would be worth the coin on stock horsepower? Any ideas guys?

Super 9 / Screwed the pooch on this one....
« on: July 09, 2012, 08:20:25 PM »
Well I was attempting to replace the contra spring today, got a new box of shiny parts and was excited.Unfortunately the threads on the clutch shaft are now officially stripped. They weren't great the last time I did it and now I'm afraid they are done. Now the question is....is there a descent clutch out there for not a lot of coin, say under a hundred bucks? Also what size if the factory clutch bell and will i need to replace that as well or can I use the factory one with the new clutch? I'm dead in the water and this is my daily driver......damn this sucks. :-[
EDIT:  Yea I just realized I need the pulley assembly not a clutch, but if I could get both in a package that would be nice.

Super 9 / torque springs
« on: June 28, 2012, 09:24:43 PM »
Hey guys,I'm thinking of trying another torque spring in the S9.Awhile back I got a silver one from moped hospital, and I have no idea what strength it is.When I first installed it there was a noticeable improvement on hills, now it seems to have lost some strength.I was thinking about going with a Mallossi yellow 1500 rpm spring.I actually ordered this one to try:
http://www.malossiusaonline.com/product_p/298323g.htm and the torsion controller as well.I was wondering how many people run the 1500 rpm springs and what are the possible drawbacks.I have the Technigas next R pipe and Jasil variator running 6.5 grams rollers, otherwise it pretty much stock. It's an 04 liquid cooled engine and it's somewhere about 19,000 kilometers on it.

Super 9 / super nine flasher relay

Does anyone know the best place to buy oem parts like this? I've looked around and the best price I can find online is around $39 shipped.I've heard that you can replace this with an automnotive one if you can find a three prong that fits...anyone have any suggeastions?

It seems I'm going through rollers about every two months and although there aren't really any noticeable flat spots on them,it seems to affect acceleration by causing a hesitation before actually taking off,and by having a dead spot at somewhere between 35-40 mph.The variator is stock and I'm not at all above replacing it if it will yield any noticeable gains in performance. My question in the title of this post is are the Dr.pulley roller weights any better then standard ones (especially for twice the price),and if so,are there any difference in the way the scoot will rev with them? Also which variator do you guys recommend? Is this normal for rollers to show wear or performance degradation this soon? They are the Jasil rollers from moped hospital. Thanks for the help.

Super 9 / Super 9 rear shock leak?
« on: August 25, 2010, 05:01:18 PM »
Has anyone replaced their rear shock on their Super 9? I noticed some crap built up on my carb and it turns out I think it's oil coming from the shock (along with acumulated road grime).Anyone have this problem? It doesn't seem to ride hard or bouncy or anything... :-\  Does anyone else order factory parts from Adam Fuller? I've had good experiences with them if anyone wants their number.

Super 9 / Super 9 headlight upgrade?
« on: August 18, 2010, 08:43:37 AM »
Is there an alternative bulb, say and LED out there to fit the Super 9 that will be better than factory, and if so where do you get it? I don't want to modify the factory wiring if avoidable. If not, what's the best source for factory replacements?

Super 9 / Technigas Next R on LC super 9
« on: August 18, 2010, 08:40:27 AM »
Hello everyone!
I have an 04 stock liquid cooled super 9 that I want to refresh just a bit. It's has about 14,000 miles on it and has started to lose a little on the hills.I still get about 48 (speedo reading) on the flats, but it has a dead spot now between 20 mph up to about 30 or so.I know when a problem gets gradually worse it's hard to notice, but I'm at the point where I want to fix it.
First of all I'm going to replace the plug as it's about time, then I've ordered a Technigas Next R pipe because it was recommended by Steve from moped hospital. He mentioned that the stock pipe becomes clogged after so many miles and since the aftermarket pipe is about the same price as the factory pipe, why not upgrade? He also mentioned that because this was before most of the new emission standards that the factory jet should be fine for this pipe.Hopefully that is true because I don't want to run it too lean.
While I have the case open I'm replacing the belt too because I'm sure it's slipping, which I'm sure is robbing power at some point during WOT.I'm thinking these improvement should restore or even improve upon original performance somewhat.I'm not looking to get a big bore kit or new carb because I don't have the extra coin at the moment and I want to keep it a relatively simple daily driver that doesn't require constant tuning.
One question I have is how good are the rollers that come with the Technigas exhaust and how long will they last? Another question is I'm heavier than the average rider at about 265 lbs,so should I go lighter on the rollers to improve it's performance with my weight? So basically what rollers (brand, weight) should I use and where is the best place to get them? Any thoughts or help will be much appreciated!
