Agility 50 / My moped died and won't start ???
« on: September 03, 2018, 09:13:03 AM »
It's been a very long time since I've posted here and to be honest my moped has been faultless for several years with yearly general maintenance. BUT with that said last Thursday on my way to work the moped died in an intersection and wouldn't start afterwards.

So with it home in the garage, I've 1) checked for spark, yes, 2) checked for fuel delivery, yes it has plenty with the lines and filter being clear, 3) the automatic chock checked and registers 15oms 4) removed the carb and using the compressor blew out all passages, but I have to say that the internals of the carb appeared to be perfectly clean.

Still no luck, it won't start. I've killed the battery so it's on the charger right now. I can add that I even tried with starter gas and nothing.....I have to admit defeat as I can't see why it won't start right now. There's spark, so I can't see the Cdi being a problem, there's gas to the carb and fuel bowl is full of fuel. ???

With the spark plug out the motor turns over fine with no ill sounds from any part of the engine.

Anyways I'm hoping that maybe some or one of the experts here can shed some light on this starting problem and give me a few helpful tips/suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Todd.

Agility 50 / Head Wind Speed
« on: August 22, 2012, 01:50:41 AM »
How much of a difference in road speed should I expect from my A50?  On Sunday I was out on a 70km trip and with the lee wind I was averaging over 70kph. But on the return trip and with a head wind which was nothing serious, I was bobbing around 60ish.

10 kph is a fair drop in speed with a slight head wind, is this on par for others? I'm wondering now what can be done to reduce the number?

Agility 50 / Mirrors ?
« on: July 15, 2012, 06:41:08 AM »
The A50 that I recently bought has replacement cheap mirrors on it. So checking various wrecker sites I can see that there are plenty of "Right hand side" mirrors but hardly any lefts. :o This got me thinking, aren't these guys doing these ads wrong? I'm of the thought that the mirror heads are fully adjustable so that they are useable for both left and right sides, can somebody please confirm or dispute this?

Thanks in advance.

Agility 50 / Variator "Shifting"
« on: July 11, 2012, 10:13:43 AM »
That term I've read several times here and with my A50 I actually felt the scooter shifting while going up the rev band.

Would theses grooves have anything to do with that ?? LOL  :D

Installed the new Naraku HS variator set yesterday with the new straight boss. While at it I began the experiment with various roller weights.  As I wrote in an earlier thread, with the new 1000rpm contra spring I've had to go to heavier weights to get any performance from the A50.....Keep that in mind.  ;)

So anyways I tried the 5.3g rollers that came with the kit and as I suspected the A50 shot right up to 25kph and stayed there. So I tried a new set of 8.5g rollers and from the start are they sluggish but once you get moving she goes well. Then I went back to the 8g rollers that I installed a few weeks ago and here she seems to perform the best.

I'm a big fan of the Dr. Pulley sliders and want to order a set but I'm a bit confused by several comments that I've been reading here and at other sites. Here the comment was made that you should go 1g higher once you found what suites you best and at another site they say to go .5g higher.  ???  What is correct  and what is recommended from past experience?

Another thing I did noticed yesterday was that the mixture screw on the side of the carb was not properly set. According to the manual it should be 2½ turns out, then from there you can fine adjust. On mine she was 1½ turns, by turning it to 2½ turns the A50 seems to runs better but I do think that only going one jet size up wasn't enough. The spark plug is very clean, no residue so I'm of the though that she's running a bit lean so a set of M5 jets were ordered yesterday so that I can experiment there to.

Anyways I'm having fun with the A50 just unsure at this time what should I buy, 8.0g or 8.5g Dr Pulley sliders. ??

Agility 50 / New Agility 50 owner with a few questions.
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:55:39 PM »
After several years of ups and downs with Chinese scooters I've taken a step upwards with buying a 2007 Agility 50 today.

Getting it home in the garage today I got to doing a quick service by changing the oils and minor adjustments on the brake and throttle wires. Plus fixed the seat base lock wire that jumped out of it's race due to what appears to someone forcefully turning the key/key barrel the wrong direction.

One thing that I thought to be unusual was when I filled the oil. The manual says .90 L, but when I filled the motor the oil level was up to the top of the filler neck, even after running the motor for a few minutes for oil circulation. I found with the Chinese scooters that .07 L was just right, so I'm wondering if the level that is in the manual is a bit generous? I did not remove the filter, so if it's clogged will it give a false oil level reading?

The air filter housing has a rather small intake hose and the part where the hose clamps on the filter housing, the hole is a meager 18mm opening. But the plastic there is thick so I'm going to drill it out with the largest drill that I could dig out which was 20mm. Plus the air filter plate has only one hole in it, which I didn't measure but it seems to be a form of restriction to me and I'm wondering if adding another hole or more will help with air flow.

I'm a fan of iridium spark plugs that I'll order this week and I'll be getting to the CDI trick that I've have read here.  ;)

On the Chinese scooters I found that 4.5 g Dr Pulley sliders worked great for me but I've been reading that most use in the 5.0 g range here. Is 5.0 g better suited for the Agility?

My goal is to gain better acceleration with top speed not being a priority. Actually keeping top speed close to 50kph is preferred so that the police do not get suspicious but with that said I'm tired of idiots in their cars driving so close in traffic.

Cheers,
Tuko.
