General Discussion / This appears to be a really good forum
« on: January 06, 2010, 04:27:52 AM »
Same as my title.  This appears to be a good forum with really good people.  I e-mailed the company the other day and told them I thought their dealer search leaves much to be desired.  I know where my local dealer is located.  But what if I were running across an unfamiliar state and had a malfunction that required warranty work?  The search requires that I enter a zip code.  Well, that is no problem.  But it only gives me dealers in that zip code.  The alternative is to list a city AND state.  It doesn't tell me the dealer closest to the city, nor does it tell me if a dealer is in that state.  It only tells me if a dealer is located in that city.  Any ideas?

People 250 / compare SYM HD200 to Kymco People S 250

I e-mailed my local dealer today looking for a scoot to haul my butt (255 lbs.) down the road.  I love the Buddy.  Hands down my favorite for the kind of riding I do.  But this dealer more or less convinced me that 150 cc may not bring home the bacon, and I like bacon.  I also liked the Vespa until I came to the realization that maintenance costs (such as a rear tire change) would eat up much of my savings by riding a scooter.  So I am left with the Sym HD 200 and the Kymco 250 People S.  Does anyone own both of these bikes, this allowing a direct comparison?  The SYM is less money and has less weight.  The Kymco is water cooled and has better braking.  And that is about as much as I know.  What of SYM's parts availability?  I've always heard that Kymco is the best in parts.  Does that hold true or is that just someone trying to sell a bike?  Thanks in advance for all responses.

General Discussion / overheating and parts availability
« on: August 09, 2009, 01:46:56 PM »
Hello, new guy here.  I was just on modernbuddy.com.  The Buddy was just taken out of the running for my bike of choice, no doubt about it.  Lots of complaining going on because the folks cannot get parts.  Sometimes something as simple as a seal or a piece of body work might take two weeks or two months.  Kinda silly.  I have heard that Kymco has a warehouse in NC and that parts are ALWAYS about two days wait.  Is this correct?  Does anyone on here have problems getting parts?  Or are the Kymco folks really that good at getting the stuff out?  Also, I have been thinking of getting a Vespa, Sym, or Kymco for some time.  I think a bike in the 200-250 cc range would be great.  Only thing about the Kymcos is that they are not water cooled until the 250 cc models.  I am a big guy of about 250.  Would the 200 be a problem?  I'm a bit paranoid about Kymco not including water cooling on this bike.  Does anyone riding a People S 200 have this problem?  Thanks for all the help and responses.  Ride safe.
