People 250 / Re: Silly question about oil change / oil level
« on: August 15, 2018, 08:06:58 PM »
Just read in the manual to check the oil by NOT threading the dipstick into the engine.  Is this correct?  If so, I have been checking incorrectly ... is this true of all scooters?  I always screw the dip back in.

Thanks

Yeah first time I checked my new Like 150i’s oil I did the same thing, screwed it in like my last couple scooters did.  Then I read the owners manual And freaked out it was underfilled (turned out not by enough to worry about). I find it odd but whatever I know what to do now

How do I lost pictures of my scooter

The easiest way I have found is through the Tapatalk app (if your on android or iOS) app takes care of it all

No rules I've seen. In General Discussion, there are numerous topics on politics and voting.
The only restriction I've seen is staying on topic, which I understood that post to be negative as the OP was about condo associations.
But, mods/admins make that call. YMMV

IF you question a post, use the "Report to moderator" link.

I'm interested in @Snoopzilla saga on dealing with this and what (if any) changes result.
. Oh and an update on the association scooter saga.  They’ve approved of our solution to temporarily rent an unused corner of the garage to store a couple scooters in so at least the Gal can park her car back in the spot, as she doesn’t use her car that much.  Still pretty ridiculous, but since we are planning on moving shortly anyways, at least it’s something.

If you want to know how socialism works, buy a condominium. Best of luck with your house.

Thank you.  Putting the Condo on the market September 1st.  Historically these units sell fairly quick.  Sellers market in Minneapolis right now (probably elsewhere as well) so we are afraid we might have to rent for awhile if we can’t find one and get an offer accepted.  We have friends who’ve been searching for a house for over a year and last couple they offered 20 percent over asking and didn’t get either one.  Fingers crossed.

This is the only aftermarket exhaust I have seen that is said to be engineered for the Like 200i. It is made by GPR in Italy and has a port for the O2 sensor included.
Now that’s a good looking exhaust.  Might have to inquire if they have one for the 150i coming

Is that what's in the bylaws or is that just the opinion of the person who's jealous of your toys, & efficient use of space?
Pretty much what the one person who’s jealous of our toys says.  Although the bylaws don’t specifically cover this situation (think it basically states the space is to be only used for personal vehicle and not to store personal belongings) although we have offered a few different solutions, we have not heard back because I think no one else really cares about it but that one person.   We just figured a house with a nice garage would be better.  Both of our cars have suffered hit and runs by terrible parallel Parker’s that can’t be respectable and responsible to leave their insurance info.  It’s gotten old.  Excited to have a garage the most.  Hopefully it’s big enough for both our cars and the scoots, if not I would just be happy to have my car in our own driveway.

Plus the girlfriends little SUV is usually parked i the spot and we have 2 scoots hidden in our living room.  They said we can only have one scooter and one car in our parking space.  We say we are putting our condo up on the market and getting a house

People also think that Kymco accidentally  inserted a rubber part into the air intake tube, which is retricting the air flow in the tube to the air filter box.
To get more _______ (your choice, "noise", "power", "speed", "mpg's") just pull out that restricter.
IMHO, lads at Kymco might have put it there to increase the velocity or pressure of the air stream. So I spend my time checking the tire pressures.
Stig
Oh ok.  Kind of figured that.  Just really looking for an exhaust that looks better.  Not really interested in a louder exhaust note, or performance increase.  Just was hoping to get one that matched the appearance of the bike better.  But assumed that no specialty company made one specifically for one as not too many
People are trying to hop up the Kymco Like.  Maybe I could find a slip on kind, but don’t want to mess with the tune of the ecu, but maybe an easier better solution would be to powder coat my current exhaust (oh wait maybe ceramic coating since the heat issue, or maybe just good ol vht or bbq paint) a better color as I was planning on doing the cvt cover and a few other bits this winter.

LIKE 200i / Question about performance exhaust and Fuel Injection
« on: August 12, 2018, 08:44:58 PM »
So am curious if anyone has upgraded the exhaust on their fuel injected Like 200i?  I know I have the 150i which would probably be the same exhaust or at least similar anyways.  But curious if one does upgrade do you have to tune the ecu or does it adapt with oxygen sensor and all that automatically?  Cause I know on a carb bike you have to upjet for a different exhaust.  I am sure nothing is out for the new Like 150i yet, not even sure if anyone made one for the Like 200i even or if it just takes a gy6 one. Not so much expecting a wild increase in horsepower or anything nor do I want it to be all loud and obnoxious (even though the saying is loud pipes save lives.). Just more of an Aesthetic thing, but a slight improvement in performance would be a plus I suppose.  Or maybe it’s just not worth the hassle.

General Discussion / Re: Do you wear earplugs?
« on: August 12, 2018, 05:36:19 PM »
Finished my coffee, got up from my sidewalk table and geared up to ride home on my scooter yesterday morning.
Within 20 feet I thought something was wrong. .....in another 30 feet I figured out what was wrong.
I'm hearing all this racket. .....I forgot to put in my earplugs!
Even my little Piaggio with the new Euro-Quiet standards muffler seems loud if you're used to riding while using hearing protection.
I used earplugs at some part of my work day for decades - so I know that I can hear all that I need to hear while wearing them.

Studies I've read indicate that even full face helmets cause hearing damage when hearing protection is not worn.

Stig
On 2 stroke bikes I have been tempted to, but figured I could miss out on other sounds for safety, which maybe, maybe not.  But I have to wear them at work all day and can’t wait to take them out at the end of the day.  So like to not wear them as much as possible, since they are
In my ears 40+ hours a week

Country of origin on this .......um
Scooter?
$3400 ?
[emoji119]
Almost $1000 more than a scooter with an actual dealer network behind it.
Keep the Royals over there, bring back the SH150 Hondas.
Stig
I believe it’s China, which yes is questionable for a $3000 plus scooter, but it is a mostly metal body and they are quite popular in Britain.  (Although it’s easy to confuse them with scomadi’s
Which look identical and are made in Taiwan.  So I am not 100 percent sure.  Although if it does use a Sym powertrain I suppose one could get service from any Sym dealer

NIce old school vespa-ish look
Yes, because I guess the Lambrettas did look sorta like Vespas too. basically an older Lambretta design with a modern twist (also this company is/was being sued by Scomadi, but how a copy company sues another copy company is beyond my pay grade)

. Well was at my dealer yesterday for a bbq, part of the land of 10k scoot rally.  And low and behold I saw this beast with one of their dealer plates on it.  I guess Royal Alloy is close
to epa approval, this one isn’t for sale though, still has a Great Britain Vin.  Mostly Metal body, not fuel injected, and in my opinion too bad it uses a SYM engine.  But it was a lot bigger then I thought it would be and pretty cool.  Said the target price is somewhere around $3400.

Was at the dealer today and they kindly looked up some torque specs and figured I would share.  Unfortunately all I have is a screen shot but better then nothing and hope this will help someone out down the road
