Xciting 500 / Re: Upgrade suspension?

Kymco USA has them, too. No price on the web site. I think I'm just going to ask my dealer for prices for everything on the X500 accessories page. I'll see if he can can specs on the shocks.

Thanks for the help.

I've seen the gas shocks, but I haven't seen if they increase the carrying capacity of the scoot, or how much. Any idea?

Thanks for the info.

Welcome OLDRIDER .  I went 32 yrs without riding and have had an Xciting 500 for two months now.  I love it!  I'm 55.

Wow... I'm 56, and went 20ish years before riding again, and I've had my X500 for just under 2 months. But then, I've also ridden a Piaggio Fly 150 for a month and a Scarabeo 250 for about for about 6 months before getting the X500.

Welcome to the forum. I thought my 20 year stretch of non-riding was kind of long.

Post some pictures, we'd like to take a look.

Xciting 500 / Upgrade suspension?
« on: March 31, 2010, 01:58:39 PM »
Anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the suspension so a X500 can carry more than 330lbs? I'm 250 at the moment, and that pretty precludes much a passenger. And yes, I am trying to lose weight. Still, even if I get back to 200, a passenger and some gear might still be tight.

..shell V-power 93 octane high-test premium go-juice...
 ;D

Is that 93 (RON + MON)/2 ?

You'd think figuring octane ratings wold be easy.. but nooooooo ....

RON, MON, ROZ, MOX, AKI, (RON + MON)/2.... sheesh.

it's looking like the answer to my questions is ...screw the octane rating numbers, use high-test.
:-)

I use the lowest available.
For years it was "normal" with 91 ROZ / 82.5 MOZ and since about 1 year only "super" with 95 ROZ 85 MOZ.

How does ROZ and MOZ compare to (R+M)/2? IS ROZ the same as RON?

Why did you switch to super from normal, and did your mileage change?

I took the Scarabeo 250 out today, for the first time  since I got the new scoot. It felt really small, in size, compared to the X500. It does get to 60 mph real fast, though, and the seat is nice and soft.

After doing some reading, it seems 87 (R+M)/2 is supposedly sufficient. I'll give it a try next fill up.

I get 45 to 50 MPG regardless of the gasoline octane.  I believe specs call for min 90 RON.  This equates to 87 (R+M)/2 which is regular gasoline in the states.  Here is a link to some info on octane.

From my Owner's Manual: "Use unleaded gasoline with a research octane number of 91 or higher". Gas stations in my area have 87, 89 and 93, so I have been putting in 93. I do think the quality of the gas varies a lot in my area. I am going to try using a station a little farther up the road next time.

I just got 43.5 mpg on my last fill up. It was mostly in-town and very stop and go. That's close enough to 45 to be margin of error.

So, I have 2 fill ups that I am sure I put in 93 RON, and those were 47 mpg and 43.5 mpg, most highway-ish, and all in-town.  So, maybe, just maybe, my scoot is just a little bit of a gas hog :-)
