I installed the V46 today and as expected all the parts including wrong ones were in the kit from GIVI. Good thing I had the spacers from the installation on my 300 being the ones with the kit were too long. I am disappointed in GIVI being I wrote to them and hear nothing. I'll get some photo's as soon as I can get out one day between the rain drops. I ordered the rack and brake light assembly from revzilla and waiting for the reflective paint samples I sent for.

Xciting 500 / Reflective (Red) Tape or Paint for
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:17:07 PM »
For the vertical bars on the GIVI V46 box on the Xciting 500Ri. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as Red Reflective Paint? If not, going to look for a good (Red) Reflective Tape that will stick well on these vertical bars. They of course are presently black and I feel the above will be a good extra visual.

Had the rods installed yesterday and they did a very neat job...better than what I could have accomplished. I will install the rest of it and hopefully all the parts I need have been included in the shipment. It cost me $56.00 and I feel it was worth it.

htcneil2, thanks again for hanging in there with me. I just don't want to screw anything up by doing all that being the scooter is new. I just got to 195 miles on it today and want to get enough easy miles on it to be able to ride along with the big ride coming on for the homeless vets. I went there for 3 years not but never had anything big enough to keep up on the big road ways. I will look over that inside the seat cover again!

Everything is connected to it! I mean it is one solid unit from back to front of the scooter. no way.

Yes, on the 2012 the entire tub/inner saddle has to come out to show the shocks.....no way.

Just a bit of rust help.... When I was in amateur radio, any outside nut and bolt work I did, I sprayed them with clear lacquer (several coats) and never had a rust problem. I put up a flag pole, sprayed the top ball, pulleys, nuts bolts and all that was exposed and even sprayed before assembly consequently no rust to this day. I keep 2 cans around all the time. Lawn mower nuts and bolts...I also sprayed..it surely works and doesn't take any time to do so. Just my bit of preventative.

vex, I am sort of at a stand-still with my box project at this time and as you defined, it is the connection to the upper shock mount. I will feel much better if I take it to my service department being on the 2012 the inner saddle cannot be removed to see the shock mounts, That is the difference I attempted to explain to htcneil2 plus a couple install areas. The steel bottom plate shows to be mounted using spacers and they do not show how to attach them. Further, the two bolts under the black rubber cap if removed, will any of that back-end drop out of set-up and create difficulty there also? In other words vex, the whole set-up diagram and parts procedure are terrible. Another problem taking it to service will create...if they mount the rods and the plate is not yet installed, possible the rods should not be tightened yet until other part are in place to tighten all at once. I couldn't get in there to tighten those upper shock bolts. Appreciate the input on all this and hope will hear from GIVI.

When I carry my camera around everyday I also shoot a few home photo's and thought I'd submit this here! I just came back from a shooting project after about 200 shots. I take the scooter to do these shots and it is easier to park although difficult to store items without my box.

htcneil2, thanks for your response to my posts. Of course I have the Xciting 500 Ri, 2012. The diagrams reads for 300i and 500i but on one also includes yr 2009. I specified 2012 and the kit SRI91 but this setup is incorrect. If you have a later listed set of diagrams please let me know. If you have a different year Xciting 500 Ri the set ups are different. The worse part is getting under to mount the upright rods to the upper shock mount. diagram shows it view-able from the inside being the inside saddle can be removed...not on the 2012. The plate support mounts have insufficient wording, diagram or parts. if you have a diagram for specifically a 2012 Xciting 500Ri I would greatly appreciate copies of them. Haven't heard from GIVI USA yet but we know how things like this go. Even if service mounts the upright rods the plate should already be on but all bolts etc. left loose and tightened all at one when all is in place. They can't install all due to all of the above diagrams. If this is a new GIVI Box and mount it would all be shipped back.

I E-Mailed GIVI USA relating to them the "terrible" instructions on hooking their hardware SR91 that was shipped to my dealer to me for the Xciting 500Ri. I hope to hear from them and asked that they have their Tech people correct these diagrams and instructions being I will be stuck with a expensive GIVI box and their mounting hardware. Needless to say, I might be stuck with this of which I hope to relate that is will be corrected.
