People 50 / Re: 2 passengers on a 2009 People 50 4t: Waste of Time?

Sell the 4t and get a tandem bicycle (if you want to be environmentally responsible) or man up, get your motorcycle license and get a bigger scooter.
Personally I don't like to ride two up on a scooter or a motorcycle.
Oh, sure it is cute and all, but wonky.
I may change my mind if I get to ride a Goldwing.

My mileage has varied between 66 and 92 with an average in the high 70s.  my mileage has been getting better.  Not sure if it's because the engine is breaking in or due to the warmer weather.  Maybe a little of both?

Wow, do you have a lot of long, flat stretches that you ride?  I have never seen that kind of fuel mileage on a 150.
I had a Vespa ET4 150cc scoot and I swear that I was only getting around 50 mpg.
What am I doing wrong?

General Discussion / Re: Brake changes exhaust note

Hmmm, Whisper has an interesting theory,
My guess is that the belt is turning just a bit at idle.  When you hit the rear break it stops the belt, causing the engine to do a bit more work, thus changing the exhaust note.
Could be similar to when you kill the clutch on a motorbike and the engine changes tone, only in reverse.

Oops, added a 1 in the wrong place.
I think I have had it up to 55-60, but wasn't crazy about it at that speed.
50 mph seems like a comfortable top speed for me.

And no, it is not normal.  I have a 2001 Super 8 and it starts, goes and stops with no trouble.
Make the dealer fix it.

Does it still turn over?
Batteries on these things are junk and that could be the issue.
It could be your regulator/rectifier.
It should be under warranty, no?
Take it back to the shop, if you can.

Super 8 150 / Re: Just got Super 8; How should I break it in?
« on: February 24, 2011, 10:08:52 PM »
Eh, sounds like you'll be fine.  As long as you are not crazy on the throttle, it will break in fine.
Change your oil after the 300 miles.  Boom, done.

Vino Schmino, you will enjoy the Super 8 more.

I always try to fill up when the gauge gets to the red zone.
I have a lot of stop and go around town on my commute and figured that I am getting around 60 mpg.

You are not crazy at all.  That sounds like the perfect trip.
I do find the stock seat on the Super 8 to be a bit hard and recommend inserting some foam.
I use the scooter for commuting and the longest ride that I have had was from the house of the guy I purchased it from.
I have been on day trips on a motorcycle and have always enjoyed it.

Maybe you dropped something in the intake when you were changing the filter?
Check all the tubes, cables and wires around the filter housing in case you knocked something off.

Fast is a relative term.  Maybe you should consider selling the 50 and getting a 150.
I would argue that the 150 is not "Fast" either.  Scooters can be "Quick", maybe "Agile", but not "Fast.
All this de-restricting and modification sounds like a pain in the ass to me for something that is inherently slow.
In any case, it is hard finding proper performance parts for the Super 8, 50cc or 150cc models.
I do like my 150 around town and it is quick enough to be safe and fun.
Good luck.

Technical | How To / Re: Flat tire

Well I finally got my repair kit in the mail.  I am ready to plug a flat, I hope.
I ordered the following Genuine Innovations kit from Amazon and it came in a few days.
http://www.amazon.com/Innovations-Cycling-TIRE-INFLATOR-REPAIR/dp/B0012TTAPY/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1297792471&sr=8-9

This is a nice, small kit that easily fits in the under seat storage space.
It seemed like a good deal too.
