The Kimko 50 agility is ALWAYS going to take five minutes, more or less, to warm up.  It will not help for you to rev it up.

I have this scoot since 2007 and in 2 winters (in which I didn't touched any mechanical part of scoot , especialy carb) I didn't had this problem... Usualy I was giving some time for warming up but that beacouse I wanted to, not cuz I was forced ... Now in november or begin of december I had a problem with scoot and I thought its a good ideea to clean the carb (after 18000km) *WRONG*... the carb was perfectly fine it turned up that the piston rings were worned ... I'ved changed the piston rings , now it runs ok except the starting at cold part ... what can I say the carb it's a fine precision part and I did it with my hand ...

hmm... the spark plug is an normal NGK CR7HSA or something like that ... what happened to your spark plug? I thought at that problem too ... I will try an other spark plug just to be sure, even if it doesn't have more then 5000km , but this when it will get wormer outside... today were about -5*C and snow was announced ...so  scoot will stay in garage for a few days ...

Indeed it has an electronic choke ... but what I should check at it ... it seems to run well to me ... after about 5 min it goes off...at idle it runs well ... I don't think thats the problem ...

The problem is, it is very difficult to get the thing moving from a stop (moreso when cold). When the bike is cold, you have to flutter the throttle a couple of times to get the engine to rev a bit before you give it hard gas. If you try to give it full throttle when the scooter is cold, even at a modest rate of twisting, it will bog down and die.

Sounds like we have the same problem ... but I have it just at first 500 m-1 km max ... or just for 5 min of worming the engine ... after that all is good . I have that problem since I opened the carb for cleaning ... I just don't know what i'v messed up ... maybe the floating thing ?  I don't know what can it be ...

@MaryK : I don't think it's the jets , if it was then I would have same problem all the time not just at the start ...

@codger78 : I tell you is not normal ... for 18000 km I was just pushing the button and vrrm I was gone no worm or anything else ... I remember last winter when I didn't had time for worming the engine I filled some drop in power but that was all nothing significant ...

I hope I will figure it out and I will tell the results ... meanwhile I am happy to receive other opinions

Thanks and ride safe and beware of ice.

What disturb me is that it was running fine before messing with the carb tunes ... and I cant find someone to proper tune it ... since I change the piston rings and corrected valves I don't have troubles at all at starting ... taking of its what bothers me ... when I leave from garage I have no problem warming up the engine ... but when I am going back home from university or work  its kinda embarrassing to wait 5 min before going .... or if I don't worm it well first 100m its a pain in the ass cuz it take off then suddenly I have no power ,the engine is at idle and I am in the middle of the road...

Agility 50 / Starting at cold problems
« on: February 20, 2011, 01:18:09 PM »
Hello again guys/girls .
At the end of last year I had few problems with my scoot ... didn't start at all and thinking its the carb I got it down for cleaning ... I cleaned it but wasn't that the problem ... the problem were used piston rings and the carbon deposits from valves . I fixed those too but now I have an other problem that I can't figure out how to undone it ... When the engine is cold I start the engine , the engine runs perfect at idle but when I try to give gas the engine starts to "drown" ... and I have to accelerate very slowly until the revs get higher and higher , then the problem is gone ... until next cold start ... I will try to upload few videos to help you with making an ideea about what I am talking about .

Here is the start :

And after about 5 min it's all normal :

PS: Outside were -4*C .

your mirrors have been stolen to ?

or I am the only lucky one ? 2 weeks ago my kick starter was stolen to ... now if my scoot doesnt start at first button push (and usualy dont) I am screwed... I push that button until I have no battery...

Indeed before you riding a scoot you need few hours to get use with it on near streets or smthing like that ...otherwise its pretty scary ,I did that mistake when I runned first time with my scoot and I hited a safety wall from a turn cuz of a truck who horned when he passed me and I didn't know to well how to react at brake at stearing ...in one word I didnt know my scoot...so its verry important .I was lucky cuz the plastics from this agility are well made and faced the parapets ...just few minor scratch bouth on me and scoot

hy guys , about air filter , glopez I recomand you to go with K&N filter  anything else is just rubish ... I buyed some unifilter ,I thought man is cheaper and still looks the same .... but guess what I couldn't even  set my carb with it cuz everytime he let trashes to go in my carb and mess it up . I gained at first with an 88 main jet ( that was right main jet ,at least that was saying plugchop Ived tred 92 but it was to rich) about 3  or 4 km on flat  but after 4 km the carb was acting strange ...I bearly got back home ... so cheaper isnt always good ...

sorry guys cuz I didnt get on forum for long time ...I didnt have money even for internet :)) hard times in roumania , slinger how is with 2t man ?
