Technical | How To / Re: Kymco xciting 250 noise under acceleration
« on: December 21, 2010, 04:21:25 PM »
My People 250s makes a noise under quick hard accelerations, a fluttering sound, but much less now that I have some miles on the bike, 1550 miles, and since the break-in.
I asked someone f/Kymco about the noise under acceleration and was told its normal.
My belt would also squeal a little during take-offs but squeals less since the break-in.
I also get a small surging vibration at lower speeds, around 25-30 mph and around 45 mph but its not bad and does not appear to be problem.
IMO the noise and minor vibration appears to be trivial to the way the drive train works on some of these.

Technical | How To / Re: Battery
« on: December 21, 2010, 03:30:54 PM »
I have my P250s stored in an unheated workshop hooked up to a float charger.
Some say to remove the battery and take inside a heated place and put on a float charger but photos on the box to my float charger shows the charger hooked up to the battery in the bike.
As soon as the temp gets above freezing I may try starting my scoot & see what happens.
My battery lost some power sitting a week or so this fall so we will have to see if the charger is maintaining a charge.

Technical | How To / 5w50 oil?
« on: December 21, 2010, 02:23:54 PM »
The owners manual states to use 10w40 oil, however, I found a white sticker posted on the inside of my seat box that gives some specs. about my scoot and lists 5w50 for oil type. This is for my 2009 P250s.
So what should I use, 10w40 or 5w50? Does it even matter?
I found 5w50 in Castrol Syntec and Shell Rotella has a 5w40. All synthetic oils.
I am currently using Valvoline 10w40 motorcycle oil but was wondering if I s/b using 5w50 oil?
Anyone care to opine?

Take a look at the following link. It shows how to adjust the valves on the p250s along with some photos:
