People GT 300i / Best belt drive

Any recommendations on a good replacement belt drive for the 300?
Even after market, if any.

If the key is off the power is off. The is a possibly you left your seat open and the met in light killed the battery.

Bettin:  please say that again, as the seat was also something my dealer mentioned.  What did you mean by ".. the met in the light killed the battery."?

Thanks again!!

Figured it out by downloading the People 300 PDF from kymcousa.com.
Adjusting the dash clock was simple.

People GT 300i / Resetting the clock on the dash
« on: October 30, 2014, 11:38:49 PM »
My battery got drained, which reset the clock.  I have a new PC and do not want to rewire the old one to transfer the Owner and Service PDF's.
So, if anyone knows how this is done please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for all the troubleshooting input.  It turns out that it was a dead battery.
It was caused by just leaving the key in the "off" (but not steering lock) position.  So, apparently, just leaving the key in there drains the battery??
I'm now using the Battery Tender Jr.,  it's my "friend" now.  :)

Now I need to know how to reset the clock on the dash .. I'll create a new thread.

Not a great idea, but if you have to do it off a car that is not turned on. If your battery is dead it won't run the fuel injection after you take the jumpers off.

Thanks!   Can't believe this .. this is a brand new People, too.
All the fuses look okay ... I'm not sure what it could be.

Connected the battery tender, but it's not charging (i.e., flashing red light)

Can I jumpstart the battery with a car?

All good, Mike; thus, the smiley face.  It was just a mixup - period.
thanks - the manual is amazing.

Sorry I owe you a apology. I made this post when the first tape was lost somewhere. I sent it and didn't hear anything from you, so I thought you stiffed me. Turns out the tape was lost in postage. I sent you another. You paid me. All is good! Sorry about the mixup.

Why would Kymco discontinue the best scoot in their line up?.

I second that!  Of course, I'm biased.  ;)

People GT 300i / Re: Anyone else using 5w-50?
« on: August 29, 2014, 05:22:56 AM »
This is exactly what I did, but at ~500 miles.  Put in 10w-40 conventional oil.
Will change the oil again at 1200 miles, use the same 10w-40 conventional oil again till I get to 2K miles.  At 2K miles and beyond that's when I'll use the 5w-50 syntec.  :)

You should use conventional oil for @ least 1,000 miles before you use Synthetic. Those rings need to seat properly over time. This is a "well known" fact. What's the rush anyway? Hell...dinosaur oil costs less as well. I moved over Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-40W after that. It can be had for around $10-$12 a quart almost anywhere (including Walmart) Any fully Synthetic oil will work fine. I found Valvoline synthetic motorcycle oil @ Walmart for around $7-8 a quart, but they were inconsistent with their inventory with stock on this product.
