General Discussion / Re: Kendas vs City Grips in the wet w/ABS?
« on: July 28, 2018, 10:29:15 PM »
I imagine that the new LIKE150i ABS is shod with Kenda tires again.....or maybe they went with Maxxis this time?

I would love to see comparison wet braking tests run with this budget* scooter's two wheel ABS using the Kendas vs Michelin City Grip tires.

Testing for wet stopping distances and control - how effective is ABS when using nylon tires vs rubber/blend tires? Some of us have experienced the thrill of Kendas in the wet during hard braking!#

Also, would be interested to see the same tests run on the non ABS LIKE200I.

*surely the Like150I is the lowest priced two channel ABS  scooter in N. America?
#I only commuted in the wet on Kenda tires for a very short time , before installing CG's.
Stig

Actually I take that back my Like 150i does not even have Kendas!   WTF!?!?  Cheng Shin tires!?!?!  What the hell are these?  Never heard of this brand...  oh ok after doing some research I guess maxxis is just cheng shin tires “rebranded” since maxxis apperenty sounds better.

General Discussion / Re: Question about fuel injection scoots
« on: July 28, 2018, 08:19:08 PM »
The main issue with fuel injection is to make sure you use clean , quality fuel. Every so often I’d recommend using a few ounces of fuel injector cleaner

. But doesn’t most top tier fuel already have injector/system cleaner already mixed in?

General Discussion / Question about fuel injection scoots
« on: July 28, 2018, 04:30:28 PM »
So this Like 150i is my first fuel injected scooter.  And was wondering if the same rule that applies to cars applies to this about not letting the fuel tank getting below quarter tank (I usually stick to half) for the fuel pump to be not over taxed (cooling).

Depends on the scoot/bike and the color.  They either look really
Cool or really not.

LIKE 200i / Parts have arrived for my bruised like 150i!!!
« on: July 26, 2018, 09:16:56 PM »
Wow.  My replacement fender and exhaust heat shield got here in under a week for this new model.  Fender looks great, paint looks better then on my original.  Sweet Kymco!  My dealer said they are really pushing for faster delivery of parts.  Also while I was there I inquired about my first service and how expensive it would be with the valve check/adjustment...their response was oh Kymcos don’t need the valves adjusted until like 10,000 miles or something.  So guess I am saving money and doing my own first service

Can confirm my Like 150i has kendas and has to be lowest priced two channel abs scoot.

Have you added a top case to your Like 150 yet? if so where did you get it?
. No I haven’t.  My scoot before this one (Lance Havana) had the smallest underseat storage, anything larger then a paperback book wasn’t fitting.  So I am still getting used to this huge one now.  I know the other guy on here with a like 150 does though.  Think he got the luggage rack from the dealer and a shad case.

Movie 150 / Re: More Performance and appearance

Wow!  Where did you get those wheels?  Want them for mine

174
I just picked up  my new Like 150i today! Loading onto the truck, to take it home, I scraped the front wheel cover. My said, it gives her  (the scoot) character... I guess.
congrats!!!  Sucks about the front wheel cover, which coincidentally is one of the parts I am replacing...you can get a painted one from Kymco for $46

That's a shame snoop!

Wish our forum had member's country under the avatar. Are you in the USA?
Hopefully parts will be along soon from a distributor. Right now I don't see parts for the new 300, the 400 or the new LIKE150i.
What does the dealer say?
We all feel your pain on this one!

Our loved ones are just that, aren't they? Glad no one holds my mistakes against me for too long.

.
I did find the parts on the Kymco site, will be about $90 before shipping and handling.  Now to call the dealer and see if I can actually order them.  Fun fact the new led headlight assembly is $245 to replace! Edit.  Ok just got off the phone with the dealer and $96 later I ordered my parts.  They say it should be here in a week or so

Hey Snoop I don't use a file sharing site for my pics I just download photos from my digital camera or phone to my PC and use the on- board software to resize them to comply with the sites pixel requirements. I don't get the big panoramic views that Stig achieves but they are sharp and well composed.  ;)
. Oh ok I did try a converter yesterday, but they were coming out just a couple kB’s too much, like seriously 5kb. Don’t think I have ever had a problem before

Movie 150 / Re: Where can I get parts?
« on: July 20, 2018, 01:14:01 AM »
Thanks for the try Tiny.  Those filters all appear to be for 2009-2011 Movie 150.  There are a lot of places that carry parts for those years.  Mine is a 2013.  When I bought the bike I was told it has a high performance four valve head motor.  It is a pretty quick scooter.  That's why I bought it.  Apparently not many other people wanted to put out the extra money for extra performance, so there are not many of them around, and not a lot of places bother to carry parts.

I am in San Francisco.  If nobody here knows someplace to get parts online, preferably in the US, probably the smartest thing for me to do is just go to the dealer I bought the bike from and ask the parts guy where I can get parts.  He would probably know.  I was just there yesterday.  I picked up a nail in my rear tire and brought the wheel in to have the tire replaced.  Nobody around here will do a plug/patch any more.  They all say it is for liability issues, so they will only replace the tire.  Dang.  That tire had less than 600 miles on it.  I hadn't even worn off all the little nibs yet.  Such a drag.
I read somewhere lately, can’t remember where but apparently the new Like 150i, uses this engine now (maybe slightly modified, not 100 percent sure) but if it’s true, parts should become more available

We started seeing pictures of this new, 2nd generation LIKE @ 3 years ago. It has changed shape a little bit from the scooter shown on the world Kymco site, and the ones displayed at European motor shows.
This final version might have been in European dealers as early as late 2016. Maybe this 4 valve engine has been used previously in other Kymco models. There are a boatload of Asian models which we never see.

My point being that surely it won't be long before you can get some parts which are unique to this model's engine and panels.

Stig

Oh ok.  Yeah I hope so soon.  Otherwise might swing by an automotive parts store and see if they can match my paint at least decent enough for a temporary fix on the fender.  At least nothing got cracked (well besides the end of the heat shield, which is plastic with a foil inner I could always try gluing it back together, but I think I will just round off the ends at work and wait to get a new one.  Hopefully I can get some pics loaded up of the carnage. I think I read some where that this is the same or similar engine to the one used in the movie 150, not sure about that though.  But am sure the newer people s (not Available here in the states, uses this engine as well, almost wish that model was available here, pretty much looks like a copy of the Honda sh150, or more similar to your Piaggio Liberty)

LIKE 200i / Re: LIKE seat from CHEEKY
« on: July 20, 2018, 12:13:32 AM »
She has to have the new seat to work from. Maybe someone local will bring in their new LIKE159i seat and give to her. Otherwise you must mail her the seat.
Stig

Yeah was gonna wait til the season ends so I can mail the seat to her/unless someone else
Does first

. Dealer couldn’t even order a new mirror to replace the one that came stripped (guess everything is showing backordered, so we will see how long.  Yep in the USA (Minneapolis, Minnesota) .  Think she’s come to rely too much on the parking sensors on her car, but they only cover the front and back and they aren’t reliable enough to count on (maybe 80 percent). I was worried she bent my exhaust or possibly cracked/stressed a mount, but don’t think it was any near that kind of damage.  Guess I will be rocking a scratched fender and broken heat shield for awhile.  If prices are
Similar to 200i parts, should come in around $100 or so give or
Take so not bad.  Could be worse.  Really hate living in a condo with only once parking spot.  Alright I will work on finding a picture hosting site.
