Downtown 300 / Be Safe Be Seen
« on: February 20, 2012, 10:54:34 PM »
As the subject suggests, "Be Safe Be Seen" and as a fairly new rider especially on the 300i, which is why I write this here instead of a miscellaneous area. I do not suggest to buy from this store as I do but merely point out a new type of store to meet a safety conscious  persons needs. I have been purchasing anything that will get me seen better/quicker and am not ashamed to use it. The Hi Viz Color is of course as shown in the photo I attached. Personally, I have the gloves, vests, stickers and many other items. I do not know the owner as a friend I push for but merely know him in meeting when I discovered the store. I almost purchased the Hi Viz Helmet but couldn't afford it at the time. Remember.....BE SAFE BE SEEN.  http://hivizstore.com/store/street-wear-active-wear

Downtown 300 / 39-41 Degrees Out With My 300i
« on: February 20, 2012, 08:57:17 PM »
It was a bright sunny day, clear sky, no snow or rain, no wind and an inviting day for a much awaited winter ride. Well with the 300 shielding most of the legs, the windshield covering approximately to neck level, helmet with the 3/4 face shield, linered jacket, good gloves and the desire to get out, it was for a great afternoon!. Wasn't cold other than just a bit under the jaw area. The bright sun helped one think it was a cool summer day only. I was surprised in not seeing any other 2 wheelers of kind on the road but I didn't let it bother me. Camera gear in my side cases went along the river and other places just enjoying the day. Reading about riders going out on cold days, I decided to try it and was not sorry. If I didn't have all the shielding, I would have been cold,

I am 6' 1", 250 and didn't think I would get used to the seat and thought about getting it redone until I looked it over and the pan put a halt to that idea. As one on this Forum suggest though, the more you ride, you get used to it more and more and he was right. Little by little I am making it more tolerable. I had 3 years apprenticeship in upholstery at that and was disappointed in not being able to modify. Now if I can only figure out how to put winter tires and chains on for PA winters!!

robbp12...good luck with your new ride, color looks good on these. I visit mine about every 2-3 days in the garage making sure it is covered, warm and comfortable!! Hate the winter months here in PA north of Pittsburgh. I have the Silver one and keep a trickle charger on the battery.

ckline3783...Name Brand is TOURMASTER, Nylon Cruiser III Tool Bags. They have Rain/Dust Covers inside and are water proof. They can mount using the mount straps Horizontally or Vertically. I paid $40.00 apiece for them but you may fing them cheaper elsewhere. I purchased them from a local cycle shop "Gatto's" located in Tarentum, PA I use them for my cameras, tools, water bottle what have you, they are really handy and stay to form.

I understand money is tight but what I paid for the Kodak Z981 is really a great buy. If you get a chance, check it out and for awhile, Sam's was selling it for 219.00. I believe the results will surprise you. I use ACDsee Pro 5 to work my pix's and really it's all I need.

Kymco News / Re: KYMCO USA has a new leader!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: February 01, 2012, 11:14:16 PM »
Hi Axy, hope you don't mind but just wanted to say "hi" being I haven't been on here for a good while but recall how many of you helped me with my new 300i. Had much fun this past summer and really like the 300i. Not enough around though, matter of fact haven't found any other owners near me or even close. I hope Kymco takes off much bigger time, it's a great unit.

Nice Camera Cortez and I viewed some of the photo's...very nice. I have mostly all Nikon gear with the assortment of lenses etc but believe me I enjoy but one camera to take with me on the scooter. Believe it or not I take the Kodak Z981 and tripod instead of all those lenses. with some of the camera gear I have I can go to approx. 1,000.00 mm. If need more I use the telescope! I taught photography for a good while and worked at many different aspects of it. Will go back to your site to view more later..now off to work!

Cortez, thanks much for the input...info, pixs etc. As a new rider in knowledge of the DT 300i people like yourself are really appreciated.
I see you are somewhat a photo bug and that is greatly appreciated being I am a retired news photographer. I can talk about photography but when it comes to the mechanics etc. I am a good listener and reader! Again, I thank people like you who take the time to thoroughly input knowledge for people like myself. about photography, I take my camera gear everywhere I go on the dt300i...places where an automobile can't go! I wish there were people/riders like yourself near my location. Again..thanks..Cortez.

Downtown 300 / Space Age Look!
« on: January 22, 2012, 02:12:40 PM »
And many remarks from the young groups...just that..."Space Age Look". First question always, what kind is that? Most all comments, "what a neat looking ride". Wonder if any 300i owners north of Pittsburgh, around New Kensington, PA? Would like to start a scooter club but am not sure there are enough scooter owners in the area.

Haven't been on here for months but through these months before the cold/snow, had a summer of fun with it. Looked forward everyday to get into the garage, and ready for another leisure ride. Previously on this forum, I gained a good bit of knowledge before I even went out far on my own. I appreciate this forum and the helpful/knowledgeable advice and cautions. With the 46 box and two small side bags, I carry my water, camera binoculars and other useful ride items. I will retire soon and I will make further great use of this 300i!
