I ride a Super 8 2t 50 because I was too stupid to get a 150 instead.  :'(

Sounds like a correctable error to me.  I sometimes feel that way about my XC250 - "should have got the XC500 - but then I stop and ask if I really need to go faster than 80mph.  Unfortunately, sometimes the answer is yes ;)

Dig it, Bleys, you're already on the most fun ride with the X, but the Super 8 is just as awesome. It's light and quick with a well balanced feel and the 14 inch wheels are perfect for leaning and take the jolts out of the road. Very smooth, very fast, very cool.

It's the sport bike of GY6 150 scooters.

Yeah, that's what I hear about the Super 8 - fast for a 150cc and agile as hell.  They look like a lot of fun.  And you're right - love the XC.

Glad I posted the thread....thanks for sharing everyone.  I had originally set my sights on the Yaeger, but could not find one in my area....really liked the value for the price and it also seemed to fit my needs.  Still, I am pleased with my XC250.  I also have started to look at the Super 8 150...seems like a really fun bike....anyone out there with one want to confirm that impression?

Okay, thought we would get back to scooters for a while and since, there have been a lot of opinions being floated around, here's the question:

What scooter do you ride and why did you decide to get this particular scooter?

I ride an XC250.  I had not ridden in many years and had decided that a scooter made sense for me.  After doing a lot of research I thought that Kymco was a nice blend of quality and price.  I went to the local dealer and sat on several scoots.  I liked the Downtown 300, but felt the price was a bit much for my first ride in many years.  The dealer told me he was getting in several 2009 scooters (but new) from a store that had closed in Georgia.  So I went back next week.  I saw the XC250, and since the dealer was knocking $1300 off the price, it was too good to turn down

I commute to work on mostly city streets, so I wanted something with decent gas mileage and at least a little maneuverability.  I also am on the highways and interstate on occasion and can't really take a long trip without going on the interstate.  Also, my wife wants to ride with me on occasion, so the XC seemed to meet all of these criteria.  Also since I will be riding in cold weather a lot, I wanted fuel injection.

Overall I am very pleased with my XC250.  It is fun, handles the highways well and still is a blast in the city.  I would like to have a little more storage and as always would like a little more speed at times.  Otherwise, it has met all my expectations.

Actually if you do the research you will find that only one real study has been done( by a liberal magazine), and they found fox to be the most fair and balanced, but not by much. I'll look for the link.
Ignore the non news crap like oreilly and hannity, and use your head and you can figure it out.
Or just listen to the liberal rags and pretend they are balanced if that makes you feel better.
Love the people that decry fox but ignore the fact hat virtually every other news source has historically been left leaning. Have you not noticed they always support the liberal candidate, it's not a just a coincidence.

I'll try to keep this short and not rant.  Organizations that regularly release finding on Media accuracy and bias -  Pew Research Institute, PIPA - Program on International Policy Attitudes, Media Matter, FAIR - Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, and AIM - Accuracy in Media.  Of these Media Matters and FAIR are open about being liberal organizations.  AIM is also open about being a conservative organization - releases it's reports every 2 months, and encourages it's readers to protest any reported liberal bias to their local news outlets.  Several universities have all released studies on media accuracy and bias.

Spend 15 minutes on the internet looking at these results and the conclusion is clear - in the US we are exposed to more bias in our news and are less well informed as a result.  In fact, one study by PIPA showed that watchers of the Jon Stewart show (he is a comedian who comments on the news) are better informed than viewers of either FOX news or MSNBC.

By the way, FOX's Bill O'Reilly has openly stated that he and his organization are conservative-leaning in their reporting, just as MSNBC has acknowledged that they have developed their programing to attract liberal viewers.  We as viewers need to use our brains to filter out the crap - it's like watching reality t.v. and expecting it to actually be real.

Sorry, if I ranted.

General Discussion / Re: Fuel tank gauge
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:28:15 PM »
Same issue with my X250.  Stays on full for the first 100-125 miles and then the gauge plummets quickly until it is sitting on empty.  Then I fill it up only to find I still have about a gallon left in the tank.  Supposedly there is an idiot light for low fuel, but I haven't seen it yet.  Only have 760 miles on the scoot though, so I am still getting used to it quirks.

General Discussion / Re: Chinese scooters
« on: June 16, 2012, 04:41:36 PM »
Okay, my 2 cents...but may only be worth a penny.  There seem to be some Chinese companies that are producing a decent scooter.  CF MOTO comes to mind.  The problem is that they have a sparse dealership network in the US.  Also while there is a significant savings in initial purchase, I'm not sure that follow up expenses are also less.  By the way, having tested a CF MOTO - it was a clone of the classic Honda Helix, it seemed mechanically sound and very comfortable.  However, the fit of the panels was atrocious, and the control switches were flimsy.  One final comment - Vespa has now outsourced much of their production to Chinese factories - most of their smaller cc scooters are being produced in China, but under Italian production guidelines and supervision.  As with anything else, buy what you like, just be prepared for the consequences - heck I still remember the early 70's when no one would buy Japanese cars, and Japanese motorcycles were considered deathtraps.

Gotta go with Streido on this one.  When my daughter was born, all I cared was that she was healthy.  Now that she is a young adult....all I want is for her to be happy and loved.  I don't care if she is straight, gay, or bi.  I hope she will treat others with respect and kindness and is treated in kind.  I also hope she will understand that people are people regardless of gender, sexual preference, religion, or outward appearance.

And just to clarify, I also did not wonder if my child would be a mass murderer, a drug addict, homeless, an actor, a professional athlete, or a famous author.  I just wanted her to be born so that I could watch her become the wonderful young lady she is.

General Discussion / Re: Golf... a sport?
« on: June 15, 2012, 01:26:53 AM »
I don't particularly care for golf myself...however done correctly, it is a sport and even decent exercise.  If you lug your golf bag around, without the cart, you are getting a good walk in and the use of muscles to swing the clubs both stretches and exercises the upper torso, shoulders, and arms.  Also there is some working of the core muscles of the abdomen involved.  Having said this, there are better ways for me to spend a Saturday morning.

By the way riding a scooter or motorcycle works out the core muscles (balancing the body and the bike) more than sitting in a car and can be considered a very light, although not aerobic exercise.  Don't expect it to replace the gym though.

General Discussion / Re: Weather related
« on: June 15, 2012, 01:19:18 AM »
I'll ride in dry weather.  The roads around here are bad, flooding is common, and there are some drivers around here that shouldn't be driving.  I don't mind the cold and will drive to about 20F.  I have been caught in the rain a couple of times, and haven't been overly worried, but try to avoid it.  I would not drive in the snow around here.  If I went down, I would definitely be run over by a cager.   ::)

Good one Vivo...but that particular gum chewer has hopefully had her license revoked by now.  Of course I hear that there are a lot more like her - male and female. ;D

Yes, please let me know.  By the way, I hear there may be 2 scooter rallies this summer - one in Medford or Middleboro, MA and the other may be in RI.  If I hear anymore, I will post to this topic.

General Discussion / Re: Why buy 50cc?..
« on: May 29, 2012, 11:34:52 PM »
Regarding laws and engine size, a lot of 49cc riders are in a bind in neighboring Massachusetts.  The dealers there read the law to their advantage and sold people 49cc scoots that went faster than 25mph, unrestricted speed.  So Mass got smart and started going by advertised specs of the scooters.  If it advertises going over 25mph, then it is a limited use vehicle and you need a motorcycle license, registration (and I believe insurance, but am not positive).  25mph or under is a moped and does not need a motorcycle license, registration, or insurance.  Of course anything 50cc or larger is a motorcycle.  The upshot is a lot of used 49cc scoots are now for sale in Mass, since they almost all advertise as going over 25mph.  People in Mass are royally pissed!

General Discussion / Re: Triumph Motorcycles
« on: May 29, 2012, 11:26:28 PM »
I like most things on two wheels - including bicycles - still ride a 1983 Bianchi road bike.  Anyway, I've always had a soft spot for Triumph and Indian motorcycles.  And the old BSA and Moto Guzzi and...well you get the picture.  But when I was at the dealership and saw the Speedster and the America and the Scramber, Triple Speed, Tiger, etc., well they all looked good.  Have to say that Norton looks interesting too, Vivo.
