You've got some bad VooDoo going on with your scooter.
Maybe you have a short in your electrical system.

Is that the secondary air inlet from the exhaust?  I didn't know the super 8 had one.
I'm not sure why it would warp the valves, but you may get some crud in the engine.
A picture would help...

Super 8 / Re: super8 50cc 2t what weight rollers to get??

Hey are the Variators from that website compatible with Super 8-50 2t?

If you haven't figured it out, your engine is a GY6 model and can generally use GY6 parts.
I have installed the variator and clutch from Monster GY6 and they work well.

There are lots of options out there, but I have been pleased with Monster GY6 so far.
Their prices are fair and they even called me to verify a part.  They didn't have the part I ordered, so they gave me a more expensive part for the same price.

This sounds like a carburetor adjustment issue.  If you can get used to giving it a little throttle when you start it then maybe you can live with it.
Otherwise, have a good mechanic adjust the carburetor floats to factory specs.

At this point, when you turn the key to on and have the kill switch to run, do the lights go on and does the starter turn?

Your back tire will spin depending on your engine idle speed.  It will almost always do this at start up and it is not a problem.
The wheel spinning shouldn't have anything to do with your starting problem.
You can tell your dealer to adjust the carburetor properly, but he may tell you that is not the problem.
Your kill switch should not be draining your battery.  I usually leave mine in the off position, but can't imagine leaving it on would drain the battery.
Is you battery dead now?  I think I am misunderstanding your issue with the battery.

I would suggest that you get a tuning kit from MonsterGY6.com.
They sell a little box of roller weights and clutch springs that you can mix and match.
This company has done well for me so far.  They sell individual weight sets as well.

Super 8 150 has been running on 87 pump octane for a few months without knocking or any problems.

Super 8 150 / Re: replacement belt for the s-8
« on: September 27, 2011, 04:25:58 PM »
I have been trying to find out the same thing.  Supposedly, Kevlar belts last forever, but are more expensive and I have no experience with them.
You can get a OEM belt at Kymco Parts Online or after market kevlar belts.  I have not replaced my belt yet, so I can't vouch for any products or dealers.
Replacing the belt is easy if you have the tools.  I assume you have a good metric socket set, but consider getting a clutch holding tool and a torque wrench.  Or you can use an impact wrench, which is not the proper way, but makes quick work of the job.  Unless you have a torque converter, you can only guess at how tight to make the nuts.  I have not had any problems so far with my technique.
You will need to remove either the clutch assembly or the variator to get the belt off.  Some say that it can be done without doing this, but I tried and could not get it to work.

So, it wasn't doing doing this before the tune up?
It sounds like a carb problem to me.  If you need to give it gas when starting then it is most likely a little flooded, so a twist of the throttle is need to encourage the system to clear.
I had this problem on a motorcycle that I owned.  It bugged me, but did not hurt the performance of the bike.
Your dealer probably needs to adjust the carburetor floats.
Your kill switch or kick starter most likely have nothing to do with the problem.

You will need to remove the back wheel to get at the brake.
Use brake cleaner to clean all the surfaces and parts.
I did this recently with my Super 8 and it did the trick.

Cheers

That works the other way too.  You may be paying for regular and getting 1/4 to 1/2 gal of premium.
So, I guess you are better off paying less and potentially getting higher octane.  You could always add octane booster if you so desired.
My owners manual recommends a research octane of 91 for the Super 8 150.  I have been running on half a tank of 87 without much trouble.  Is pump octane different from research octane?

If the Super 8 is ok running 87 octane, then that is what I should do.  The valves are likely unrelated and I need to get my facts straight.
As fate would have it, the gas station gal pushed the "regular" button on the fuel pump and I didn't notice until I filled it.  It ran great this morning with no engine knocking or pings.
Maybe I will get that fabled 75 mpg now...

General Discussion / Re: Wind

Wind can be distracting.  Don't be afraid to ride in light winds.  The more that you do it the better you will get.  A big truck passing you has quite a wind wake that can give you a scare.
Not riding in hurricanes or tornadoes should be obvious.

General Discussion / Re: dry rot tires !! i need a new front tire stat

yea i went to two places in town one guy said if i took off the tire and brought it in he would put on for like 15 bucks, the other guy said he would do all the work for like 60-70, if i do it my self how important is the balance your talking about?? should i just pay a little extra and let the shop do it??
[/quote]

I have been riding motorcycles since 1991 and have changed tires on motorcycle or scooters maybe a total of 2 times.  I don't ride as much as some, but I get around.  It seems like I change the tires on a new bike and sell it before I need to change the tires, which is sad.  It is tempting to get some tire changing and balancing tools, but I just can't justify the expense.  Even making your own tools for this can be expensive.  You can go super cheap and use some clamps to break the tire bead, and just get some motorcycle tire irons to muscle it off, but it won't be easy.  Balancing is not as important on scooter tires (except on the bigger scoots), but it is recommended.
