I usually drive 150+ km/h on the highway. Limit is 130 and I pass others without problems.
did a little run on 5the 401 highway about 100 km. followed the cars at 120 to 140 km.s my tach. read 6000 rpm to 6500.rpm. at 120 kmph. that is with the modifiyed variator I filed 5 years ago., not bad for a couple of hours work, with the variator out of the scooter, with no cost,. except for the belt file I bought , 1/2 " wide just right size for the variator ,. I found out it is what malossi speed variator does with there units, they must have coppied my work, HA HA
Really glad to hear this! These Downtown models were so right from the beginning that it is disturbing when different. Have a happy and joyus trip! Pictures!

Yeah, remeasure a good idea. I am sure you either missed a zero: 1004 mm or 1040 mm. 104 mm would be a donut 1.33 inches in diameter!
No, no, NO! Length, width, angle! 1003 mm string around outside of belt, 25 mm wide ruler ACROSS the belt and 30 degree included angle of the truncated wedge of the belt you-can't-measure-unless-you-got-a special-tool-that-ain't-issued-to-gifted-painters! There ya go!
Yeah, and De dee is like Burt Monroe, he is over 80 and still rides the World's Fastest Indian! Har har!
(I can razz him 'cause I'm 78!)
Now this thread is really getting interesting. I always thought scooters are only for people who like cruising at mild speed but I clearly got it all wrong lol
I found a measure from mitsuboshi they said it is 1004 MM. / 25.2 MM. with 30 degree wedge,
of all the belts I have bought they never met those measures, but were close, one belt came with new scooter was 1010 mm. most were 1004 mm. but were 24 mm. wide, and they all worked
1003 x 25 x 30 mm.....
I think a belt that is too long will give you higher engine rpm and yours is over an inch too long (if I got the dimensions right!).
