General Discussion / Re: Getting a Kymco?
« on: March 01, 2019, 07:23:28 PM »
That’s a bunch of bologna.  Maybe they just can’t get any 2018’s now (my dealer sold out of all of them) and they only have 2019’s.  Said they would love to have more of the 2018’s since they are/were slightly cheaper but can’t.  I haven’t had any issues with my 2018 (love it). Can they get you a 2019?  (Price is up $200 for non noodoe model)

Ha ha ha ha.  Sounds like something I would do.  Funny I work in Golden Valley too. That’s awesome.  I used to work at a bank years ago in the drive thru and we had a regular customer that rose is motorcycle year round. All winter long he was out on his bike.  Tough as nails I tell ya

LIKE 200i / Re: Why I have no wish to delete turn pods
« on: February 23, 2019, 06:55:38 PM »
I like that the turning signal pods are up and away from the amber running lights.
To my mind it makes them easily distinguishable in all light conditions.
I have no desire to eliminate them for vanity purposes.

Stig

(it is popular for U.S. Vespa owners to remove their side reflectors for reasons of vanity....which seems silly and is illegal)

Yeah I agree with you.  Got the conversion kit from scooter west for my girlfriends Vespa sprint, cause she just had to have the pods removed.  And what a freaking rip off.  $160 for like $5 with of wires, connectors and bulbs (and not high quality ones to boot). In fact the new rear running/taillights in the kit are so dangerously dim (if they decide to work at all). So pissed off about that, and to top it off I ordered the rubber mat thing for the step through area (to keep from scratching) and they had a nice Vespa brand (with logo on mat) advertised on the site, but when I received it had gotten some generic one with no logo.  Never ordering from them again.  I think it’s so hard to see her turn signals now, that I always have to ride behind her for safety and she’s a turtle with the throttle

General Discussion / Re: Warmed up, but salt!
« on: February 19, 2019, 05:40:05 PM »
Last 2 days the temps have risen and the heavy snow has melted!
But the roads are wet - and I know there is salt in all that moisture on the pavement.

I just have to wait for a rain to get it off the roads.
I did just apply ACF-50 to both scooters before the cold set in ( a couple hours work on my knees and back) - but I can't justify coating either one with salt from the wet roads.

I will ride if the salt is dry - then rinse scooter and blow it off afterwards.
BTW - the LIKE200i keeps its engine pretty darn clean thanks to the under pans and the rear fender hugger.(better than the Piaggio Liberty)
Patience! The snows and salt can't go on much longer.

Stig

gotta have a scooter picture

Now that we have a house...I miss going scooting on the warmer winter days, was easy when we lived in the condo with the underground heated garage with car wash bay,  we could hose the salt off our scoots when we were done.  Don’t feel like getting my scoot rusty for a couple winter rides

Ha ha. Six legged dog.  When my girlfriend first got her Vespa I was like what is up with that sticker?  So I looked it up.  It was designed a long time ago. Actually part of a contest they held (think in the 40’s or 50’s or something). It represents mans best friend on 4 wheels (I guess, go figure?). Guess it was really popular back then

General Discussion / Re: How cold are you & Day 1 w/Burgman
« on: January 31, 2019, 03:50:34 AM »
SW Ohio. 10:45AM
Sunny and -7°F with a 24 mph wind = -33°F

So, how do you spell reminiscing ?

Took this snap, "Burgman Day One", after it was delivered couple of summers ago (trailered 93 miles to me)

Completed the paperwork on the kitchen table with the driver. Whole deal was an internet purchase - with an "internet price" Left-over 2014 , price was $4999. Most of that was paid from the proceeds of selling the Forza 300.
Couldn't believe how heavy it was - almost 500lbs!
Fired it up with the driver and then called the dealer because the ABS light was on.

"Goes out after you start moving."

Yeah. OK.

First ride out on it...

I tried, but that stock screen battered my head with turbulence so bad that I quickly replaced it with a French-made short sport ERMAX. GREAT head lights - both lit on low & high beam.....and 100mm of movement possible on the butt stop.
Color choices were, all black or this half black.
Stig

This was on my way to work this morning.  Never can remember it being this cold.  Did the boiling cup of water trick. Tossed it into the air immediately vaporized to snow dust.  Kind of cool, but wasn’t happy about going to work

General Discussion / Re: Wow. Ordered a new seat for my Like 150i
« on: January 27, 2019, 07:53:41 PM »
Oh whoops forgot to say why it was around $150 for the cheeky seat cover.  I would’ve had to shipped my seat to her as she doesn’t have a 150i seat to work with at the moment for fitting. So that was added to the cost.  ($150 was on the higher end of my calculations.). Normally I think her covers hover around $90-$120 depending on materials. Yeah I was asking him why the price went up and if it was because of tariffs.  He wasn’t completely sure because he says one model is and one model isn’t and it doesn’t make much sense to him.  Yeah would love some Michelin’s.  Still a great scooter, but yeah it’s priced with the liberty now (at least the noodoe model anyways). Finally had a chance to sit on a new Liberty and confirms my decision for getting the Like 150i.  I didn’t feel I had as much leg room on the Liberty.  Granted I was just sitting on it on the show floor.

$150 for a new "cover" from cheekyseats??
Geez, I like their covers but I could get a scooter seat re-covered locally - and not just a new bit of vinyl stretched over my existing seat cover.

Or, were they rebuilding your seat for $150 - not just a cover to stretch over your current seat?

Good price for the Kymco seat!
Put some Michelins on the noodoe model to help justify the higher price. Bulk order would cost Kymco maybe $50 per scoot. If so, would toss that scoot up into the near/primo scooters!

Sounds like you had fun! Noodoe costs $600? Not for me!

Yeah.  Noodoe, while interesting, and I am glad Kymco is moving forward with technology....I think they are obviously targeting the millennials and their need to always be connected to their phone.  While I will say it seems to be well put together and higher quality.  Screen looked amazing and it operated seemlessly. Was bright enough one wouldn’t have to worry about it being washed out in sunlight. So if it was something I felt that I needed, I wouldn’t feel ripped off paying the $600 premium,  I scoot to get away from it all and I don’t need a screen in my face telling me I have a new email, text or call coming in.  I wouldn’t mind the smaller gauges on the side with digital speed. I hope it boosts sales for Kymco so we can benefit from new models.

Was at my dealer today, as they have a once a year cabin fever sale (since it’s usually freezing cold right now, with today being no exception at 1 degree).  Anyways, he was like go check out the Noodoe.  So sat on it played with it a bit.  Kind off cool but both of us agreed not worth the extra $600 (from what I paid for my 2018). Asked me if I was still liking my Like 150i.  Told him I love everything but the red seat.  He says why don’t you just order a new one in grey and I was like, huh never even crossed my mind.  Told them to look it up.  Long story short, just ordered a new grey seat, came to a grand total of $62.57 with tax no discounts.  Dealer was shocked at how low that was as was I.  Excited for my new seat.  And to think I almost spend $150 having the cheeky seats lady make me a cover

Still think it is a Kymco-----Suzuki has one model made by Kymco, Kawasaki 200 scooter (if still around), BMW has Kymco heart, Daelim in Korea 250 scooter has complete Kymco drive line-------I don't care how they look, more interested in function.

VIN would answer question.

VINMH3SH10Y1JK001050 here is a vin # for one I found online...for some reason when I copied and pasted it kept the Vin in it with no space.  So starting at the M

Just saw this.  Glad I got a 2018 I guess.  Wonder if the couple hundred price hike is thanks to Trumps tariffs.  At first I thought it was because the Noodoe is out but mentions nothing about it.  Wonder why they dropped the white and grey colors? (Though I guess they’ve done similar in the past with the 200i). Edit: oops now I see the Noodoe model is $3100 and white and grey are the models with Noodoe.  Wow...

71 MPH out of an aircooled 150!
That is really nice......must be a very expensive Japanese scooter.
No?...Taiwanese engineering and Chinese construction.
Hmmmm.
Stig

I know right?  And guess who’s scooter starts quicker and runs smoother in the Minnesota winter weather?  The Vespa Sprint or my Like 150i?  Yep, Taiwanese engineering at its finest.  I have 0 regrets on not getting the Vespa now (except maybe resale value, but I will be riding this thing into the ground)

Max Motorsports seems to be a great dealer.  Everyone there was friendly and helpful and buying was a very low pressure affair.  They also have a great selection.

So far I like the scooter.  Engine performance is a bit less than I hoped for but then it's not broken in yet and I haven't really opened it up yet.  Seems to be quicker than my Super 8 but not as fast as my Smax was.  The brakes are awesome.  handling?  feels good around town but until I get it out on some twisty mountain roads I'll wait to pass judgement on that.

I considered the red but went with white.  I was a little concerned it would be harder to photograph but I'm not concerned about that anymore.

I have the same exact color and everything.  It does get faster after break in, and I haven’t really gotten on it much, but yeah it isn’t a drag racer that’s for sure, seems like it’s got taller gears, been surprised by hitting 71 mph, but not as snappy as my old scoot or my girlfriends Vespa Sprint (close though), But has higher top speed.

That’s a Chinese copy of a Vespa.  Can tell by the ignition switch, gauges, wheels and front suspension
