Super 8 / Re: Super 8 Slower after Malossi Multivar Upgrade

The DR Pulley sliders should be similar to the Ninja sliders. With that said, you want a gram or so heavier than what you would buy in a roller. HOWEVER, the ultimate weight is going to vary from scooter to scooter and rider to rider, as weight has a huge impact on performance (obviously). Some say to try out rollers and see what weight works best before buying sliders. I went right for the sliders anyways.

Nice, I took my Mustang to Mustang week at Myrtle last year.

I'll let you know how the weights work out.

Well, take it on some long flats and downhills and see if you actually gained a bit on top, I'd bet you did. It just takes an eternity to get there!

EDIT: where are you located?

Mine isn't accelerating like I expected it to either. I'm guessing the 9g weights are too much. I did get a couple MPH on top end but it takes forever to get from 30 to 40 indicated. I used to top out at 37ish.

I'm guessing because the weights are too heavy, it's taking it too long to pick up RPM. However, the better roller ratio of the Multivar gave me about a 3mph gain on the flats, it just takes longer to get there.

I've got some 6g Ninja sliders on the way. I'm hoping this will help out the acceleration (and maybe add another MPH up top).

Next for me will be a more aggressive torque spring. I didn't install the white one yet, but everything I've read tells me I want one that is just below the race spring (the 82% purple).

Ordered some 6g MRP Ninja slider weights. I'll install those and the Malossi white torque spring at the same time.

Super 8 / Re: The bolt holding the rear turn signal assembly

I'd just bring the bolt to your local hardware store and see what it is. It's how I made a new pivot bolt for my left brake lever.

How does the Interceptor smell? I've been using Spectro, it's got a nice sweet smell to it when it's running.

Super 8 / Re: Headlights dim when not accelerating/idle

Yes, mine does it too. I'd guess it's because the generator does not make enough power at idle to fully power the headlights.

Sounds good, I'm gonna order up some 6g weights and toss them in. I did manage 37 indicated today into the wind on a flat. I was actually keeping up with the traffic, which is nice for a change. I also hit my highest peak downhill of 47ish (indicated) and it felt good, as this isn't the steepest downhill I've hit. This new variator is breaking in fast. I was worried at first because it almost felt like a step backwards at first. 20 or so miles later, it starting to really improve!

55
That's true, it's cheaper to just buy separate weights i suppose!

The DR Pulley wedged weights... a gimmick or no? I'm considering trying them but round just makes more sense to me!

If you need more launch use the stiffer springs (30%) They hold the clutch back till the pipe/powerband gets closer. You could try lighter rollers too but you MIGHT drop in top end. Tyr 5.5 or 6gr

I'm thinking of getting 6's and running three of those with three of the ones that came with the variator.

I love hearing this! I'm gonna order some 6 gram weights I think. I'll do 3 of them and 3 of the 8s that came with the Multivar.
I'll also get some of the clutch springs and do those while I'm getting the spring in the clutch that came with the Multivar.
I have a filter already but I don't want to jet for that, just to jet again when I get a muffler, so I'll hold off on that.

58
Oh sh**! Great idea! I'll pick up a vise next time I'm near Harbor Freight, or maybe order one on Amazon.

So my variator and air filter came in. I've got the variator all installed, and it's running great. Seems to have a bit more acceleration but it's hard to tell as it's so cold. The scoot seems to run a bit better when it's a little warmer, so we shall see.

What I wasn't able to do is change the clutch spring that came with the Multivar. I got the clutch off, but I could not get the nut off the clutch assembly to pull it apart. I used a strap wrench around the clutch and tried my hardest, but I just couldn't get that bastard loose. Guess I need to get a large socket and try again when it's a bit warmer.

Super 8 / Re: Help 2012 super 8 50 27mph

There's no washer, I pulled the exhaust off my '11 and there was nothing there.

I'm going to dremel the bottom of the air box to get that pre-filter tube out of the way, but that's about it for the engine until I either buy a carb or jets. My air filter is coming in this week sometime, but I won't install that until I have more stuff to throw at it. My Multivar hopefully will make a difference. If not, I'll try some lighter DR pulley weights and see how that does.
