General Discussion / CVT belt life expectancy?
« on: August 08, 2014, 06:01:21 PM »
Does anyone have experience on the life expectancy of the CVT belts?
These belts aren't the easiest to get to to check for wear or cracks on the belt, that's why I'm asking.  :)

Thanks in advance!

General Discussion / Re: Scooters Unite

"Scooters Unite" on FB took me to an 'EcoReco e-Scooter' page?
Is this the page?  It looks cool, but is this it?

You may want to contact the South Bay scooter club about this. When they were here in Vegas for annual Vegas Scooter Rally, their quite a number of them who had maxi scooters. They literally rode the entire distance from Frisco to Vegas which I think is about 600 miles each way. I know they have a facebook page.

Thanks, Dave!
I just saw their FB page - South Bay Scooter Posse.  :)

General Discussion / I hardly see freeway-legal scooters on the freeways
« on: August 06, 2014, 03:22:54 AM »
Whether I drive in a car or ride my 300i, or even my moded Vino (to a 150), I very rarely see scooters on the freeways.
I live in the South bay area of SF, and my freeway commute is typically 101, 280, or 237.  On these freeways, I see, besides cars & trucks, mostly "shiftey" motorcycles.

Anyone from the Bay area notice this as well?

Yes, please keep it up.  The more I see posts on mileage over 25K, I *know* I got the right "scooter"!
Don't want to call it a "scooter" too much 'cuz it really holds its own on the freeway!

Thanks everybody this is just the info I need. I'll probably look into the 300i as the only dealers within 90 mi are Genuine & Kymco. I do'nt really care for the sort of cross between bike and scooter that the big scooters have, I like the look and seating position of the step through. I'll keep you posted with what I end up getting. Thanks again for all your input I'm really glad I found this forum.

Hey BigRed, that's exactly what I did.  :)
I went to a dealer ended up buying the 300i.  I'm getting nothing buy positive review for both the Like 200 and People GT 300i.

A little sidenote:
I figured either bike would be one heck of an "upgrade" from my Vino, which is waiting for a Variator belt right now.

Yay!  I got the right bike.  :)
I can't wait to ride it like y'all.  Of course, I have at least 500-1,000 miles to break it in.

39,703 miles on my '12. It was 2 years old on April 17th this year. Should hit 40k on about Tuesday 8)

Wow, that's amazing.  So you averaged ~20K miles the past 2 years?
I just got my People 300, brand spanking new.  :)

I was gonna post the following:

My one-way commute to work is 23 miles, will the People 300 be okay if I use it everyday?

Well, based on your reply, my commute would be "cake walk".  ;)

Thanks, Lido & Big Blue.  Great replies and input.  Based on BB's input about wind flow, which I've experienced even when riding my heavier 'shiftey' motorcycle, I'm planning on looking at the new People line.  :)
Thanks again, guys.

Please forgive me in advance if this topic has been posted before.  I did a search on it, but couldn't find anything that had a title like this.  :)

I'm considering purchasing a Like 200.  I own a Yamaha Vino 125, it's a good commuter scooter but I want something that is freeway/highway legal (here in a Calif.).  I spoke with a Kymco dealer and he claimed that Like 200's can *easily* do 65-70 MPH.  If anyone can confirm this, this would be great.  :)

Thanks!!
