Technical | How To / DTX360 (320cc) Oil Change
« on: June 03, 2024, 12:03:59 PM »
My much delayed (589 miles!) oil change was finally done this morning after a few false starts!  A word of warning, the Philippines YouTube videos on the subject seem to show a different model to the UK one I have and the procedure is therefore different!

The good news for owners is that all this is possible without having to remove any plastics!  If it helps others, mine has both an oil filter (see second photo) accessed using a 24mm socket and an oil screen located just to the left of the 17mm oil drain plug.

I first of all ran the scooter for a couple of miles to warm her up and then removed the filter having first removed the filler plug:

Removing the filter revealed all to be in good order so this was replaced to await a change next time.

Then around to the lefthand side of the bike (as you'd sit on it) to locate the oil sump drain plug.  This is the RH one of the two bigger nuts visible, the one on the left is the oil screen filter.

Finally just to prove I did drain the oil!

After a while I replaced and tightened the sump plug (having first checked the crush washer was OK) and then replaced the oil.  The manual recommends 0.9L, but having drained my oil filter earlier I'd guess it was about 1.0L or a little over before my dipstick (inserted fully home) showed the correct oil level.

All in all the whole routine - even allowing for the YouTube puzzlement - took less than 45 minutes and I expect it to even quicker next time!

True Ruffus, but as someone else said, better lose a 75 quid satnav off your bike than a 500 pound iPhone!

BTW it uses Google Maps architecture.

Frequently use the SatNav in cars, but on my bikes I've always been old school when it comes to finding my way i.e. maps before, route notes drawn up and then followed - or not!

Then I saw this and did some research.  https://beeline.co/collections/beeline-moto

Decided I'm too tight to fork out the full price and then lighted on this bargain:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335409402225

Have to say after a 100 mile round trip yesterday, I'm a convert.  Works as intended and takes all the stress out of route finding.  Now just need to supplement the basic device with a £20 universal bracket for the windshield - photos will follow when installed.

Edit:  Bracket arrived and install completed, but just before we departed for a short break.  Photo will follow when I return home.

yes YTZ14, original Taiwanese battery was only 7ah, the YTZ12 is the replacement I got under warranty

Yuasa have always proved reliable and long-lived in my experience.  My go to battery brand.

Thanks, there you go!
Yeah - aliexpress - not alibabba.

Couldn't remember the name.
They sell a ton of stuff for bikes and scooters.
Stig

Just be wary, lots of tat on that site among the gems.

One from last year to make you squirm.

And I thought the 120 mph lap when I was there in the 90’s was superhuman…

Doing laps in 17 mins?....assuming one doesn't become a new Bansky mural on a pub side.
What's the distance again, Neil?

Stig

If memory serves, 36 miles & change.

Edit:  It didn’t. Google tells me 37.730 miles
