Funny comment about the price of that stuff.
I carry inflater and repair kits under both seats....touch wood still in their wrappers after 5 yrs.
One flat i had on the Forza was too big to fix....had to be flat-bedded to dealer.
Stig

I'll be carrying plugs when I'm away for sure. I've been lucky with punctures for a few years, which probably means I'm due one!

Spin on filter! That's a proper design - much better than the thimble filter for sure

Work's been a bit slow over the last couple of weeks as I've been making various family visits (300 miles away) and been using the bike for work every day. 2000KM since April now!

The Maxxis front tyre has worn in really well. I am really pleased with it.

I'm starting to get a proper feel for the scooter now. I'm a lot more confident in blipping, filtering through heavy traffic, cornering and expecting the shuffle on any poor road surface.

The worrying hip ache that I was getting when I first had the bike has pretty much subsided. I think I was out of scooter practice after having a few months off!

I had a gift voucher to use, so I bought some Ride-On tyre sealant/balancer to see what it's like. Some people rave about it, others have slagged it off, but I thought it was worth a punt as a defence against punctures when I'm off in a few weeks touring.

As a balancer, it seems to work well; there's a little less vibration at the front and a definite smoothness added.

However, at £32 a bottle (more than £120 a litre!) it's more expensive than the tyres that are fitted :(

General Discussion / Re: Certificate of conformity

Hi,

These are a pain to obtain. Whoever originally imported the quad; probably Kymco France; should be holding the certificate and would be able to produce a copy.

They're not obliged to, however...

Yes, Chris - you'll want to edit your slider install video on youtube before too many more view it.
You have the sliders wrong way 'round. Squeeze the assembly to keep them from flipping.....

Couple of good videos by the folks who make the Dr Pulley sliders:

And :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxcQGmT8EJc

and, important to keep them from flipping when putting the roller weights carrier assembly back on the scooter. Lots of people let them flip during the re-install and then blame the resulting problems on the sliders.

Stig

Yes, I'd been meaning to get it down - back to the office with the proper PC today so down it comes!

I'll re-do the other two associated, in that case...

The irony is that I checked the way the sliders should go round with another Youtube video that I thought was far more professional than mine. It's amazing how misinformation spreads!

Actually lately instead of coffee I have been getting a pot of English Breakfast tea and a slice of cake or something to go with it.   Thursday mornings I usually go to a small cafe not far away and have poached eggs and a pot of tea.  Very relaxing whilst reading the morning paper.  I only like going to quiet cafes as I am not a real crowd person.

I get that - I prefer a quiet bite to eat or a coffee when I'm out and about, not that I wake up early enough to do any of this.

I aspire to these levels of sophistication!

I usually find that I think I miss the rain, but as soon as there is any rain, I realise I really didn't miss  it.

It must be a tall person issue. I can see the light's on, but I don't suffer from glare.

I'll add my 2-cents worth: when you remove the CVT cover don't loose the two little alignment/keeper pins that will try to fall out and roll away. Remove the cover slooowly and you will see those alignment pins, or tubes, or keepers, or whatever they are called, in either the cover in your hand or the bracket on the bike...or the ground.

Yes, we call them dowels - they're happily attached to my belt cover!

I think I may end up doing the videos as I'm not particularly happy with them; I think I would release the clutch next time rather than leaving it in situ.

Also I put my sliders in the wrong way around :(

So all in all, I'll be needing to do this bit of the process again. That's fine! All part of the learning process.

I've no idea if the new belt is making a difference, but pull-away is a bit smoother and now I have a spare under the seat :)

LIKE 200i / Re: Like 200i/125/50 FACO Crash Bars - Europe
« on: May 16, 2018, 02:30:37 PM »
You maybe better stay away from these Faco products. I have them. Especially these crash bars are of lousy quality. As soon as you have to park your scooter outside (in the rain) over a longer period you will find lots of rust and corrosion around all of the welding points. I am not amused.
They might look good, yes, but of poor quality unfortunately. Because I guess the are not really from Italy but rather from India....

But they might also have improved it in the meantime...they look different now...

The original Kymco crashbars that go around the scooter like "handrails" look pretty unsexy, but are of much better quality in chrome coating.

Thanks for the feedback. That's a shame to hear about poor quality, especially as my scooter is a liver-outsider. The Kymco UK network seems to be struggling a bit. Perhaps I could look into respraying them from new.

Hi,

I agree that the OEM CDI will probably run better! However, the dealer should have been upfront about not installing it for you.

Somebody with knowledge will be along shortly to advise - I suspect this may be a wire cut job.

I'd be tempted to nip into your/a Kymco dealer and show them; or can you get us a photo? We're happy to help as well.

Hi bud,

I did similar commuting for years on a 110 Suzuki scooter and now a Like 200i, coming from small bikes (SR250, CG125) before that. I find scooters to be the better hacks; cheaper transmission compared to belt and sprockets, a little more rot protection due to the fairings and generally drier feet.

Let us know how you get on, and if you hit any snags; we're happy to help.
