Ditto to that MassScoot. Mine's brand new at the dealer and all I could do is sit on it. I've ordered a Biondi windshield also. How do you like yours? I'm also putting on a Shad Cargo 40 top box so I can remove it when I want. Add a few reflective graphics and lighter sliders in the variator and I'm ready to go.

People GT 300i / Several questions
« on: January 14, 2013, 03:32:07 AM »
I bought my GTI300 this week but haven't picked it up yet. I don't have a service manual yet either. I do have several questions regarding my new scoot.

         1. Can the 12 volt accessory plug under the seat be used for my GPS and my battery tender? I put one on my People 150 and was advised to put a fuse in
the line. Does the GTI300 have this and can you use it as is?
         2. Does the odometer read in mph or kilometers? How accurate is the speedometer?

         3. What is the speed rating of the stock tires?

         4. Are the rollers in the variator the same on all the 2012 models and if they are does anyone know what size and weight they are?

         5. Does anyone know a site where I can download a service manual to a disc or thumbdrive for the GTI300?

         6. Does anyone know the torque specs for the oil filter cover bolts  and the drain bolts for crankcase and transmission?

What is the correct name?  This forum says GT300I. I just bought one and my scooter and owners manual both say GTI300. Let's get on the same page. Which is correct?

Just picked up a new (2012) silver GTI300 this afternoon. I paid $4644 + registration. Will pick up when weather improves. I live in central New York.

I did it. I bought a new (2012) silver  GTI 300. I got it for $4644.00 + registration. Thought it was a decent deal. Now I just have to wait for nice weather to ride.

                 Scoota

I thought the dealer I bought my 150 from was was honest and gave me a decent deal. I could not deal with anyone closer at the time because of a limited selection in June. Once I sold  the 150, I started checking a few dealers closer to me. One gave me a price of $5800 and the other was $5100. The only trouble was he wanted the money up front before ordering, and by the end of the year. I talked to my original dealer and he said he thought he might be able to match the $5100 deal, but wasn't sure of pricing yet. I told him to let me know because I trusted him. I just happened to be looking at different dealers and saw the 2012 advertized for $4999. It was the color I wanted and it is on his showroom floor now.  I called him and he offered it to me for $4300 + tax and registration. I called my original dealer back and he told me that it was a good deal and he couldn't beat it. I was concerned the 2013 would be quite a bit more with shipping and all, plus I wouldn't be sure of a delivery date. Also there are no major changes between model years. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I'm going to look at the 2012 this week, and will buy it it it looks good.

I'm concerned the 2013 prices might go up. The new model might not be available in a timely manner, and I would be looking at shipping charges . This scooter is the right color, and on the dealers floor. He will store it for me until I want to pick it up. The money saved will buy my windshield, new removeable top case and a cover. I don't think Kymco will make any drastic changes to the new model, if any at all. Guess it's a no brainer. Thanks for your input.

I  have been waiting for a dealer to give me a firm price on a 2013 model. He said he would not know till February. Meanwhile I found another dealer with a brand new 2012 model in the right color, that he will sell me for $4300 plus tax & title. About $4700 total. Do you folks think I should cancel my 2013 order and pick up the 2012 for that price. Will the 2013 models have any major changes to be worth more money, or should I save maybe $1000 and pick up the 2012?  The other thing is that the scooter is in his showroom, and I'm sure I can pick it up on 1 April and not miss any riding this year.

People GT 300i / Re: Factory top box

Thanks for the info Cortez. I have a silver 300GTI coming in April. I like the looks of the Shad SH 40 Cargo top box. I can also get a backrest and brake light for it. Think that's the way I'll go along with the Biondi windshield.

Build a platform big enough to set the scooter on its centerstand. Set the platform on the jack, then roll the scooter onto the platform. Put it on the centerstand, then jack everything up

I just ordered a new 300GTI and have the same situation. You can still buy the less expensive stand. Just build a platform out of wood to set on the arms of the stand. Roll your scooter onto the platform, set it on its centerstand, and jack up the whole thing. You could also use it to work on your lawn mower, snowblower or pressure washer.

Guess I'll have to wait and see. I'm in upstate New York, so I won't pick up my new scoot until at least 1 April. I'm just antsy and want to pre-order some things now (oil filters, windshield (Biondi), reflective tape for graphics etc). I also want  to put lighter sliders in the cvt, but have to weigh the stock rollers to see what it has from the factory. This will be a looong winter for me. Thank you for your response, and I'm sure I'll have more questions down the road.

Thanks for the quick reply Cortez. One more question. Are the factory topcases easy on & off like the Shads?

Well I did it. I ordered a silver 300GTI. I had a People 150 with a Shad SH-29 Top Case. I ordered a backrest from shad and put it on. I'm wondering if that backrest would fit the top Case that comes with the new 300GTI.
