You guys are doing well then...
I have already performed a few mods to mine and I have less than 100 miles on it still.
Upjetted to 88 (was a stock 82 in there)
Installed K&M Free flow air filter (I left the main one on there and just took off the tube running from the box to the carb, that way I didnt have to mess with those vacuum lines)
Tried to replace the variator boss with a smooth one, but it was already smooth.

Probably going to go to a racing/performance variator next.... either the moss one or the polini

Either way I cant get over 35mph...

Any chance its because of the airbox still being on there with the vacuum lines hooked up?

45-50??? Im not even close... are you in the united states?

I weigh about 210lbs so that might have something to do with it, but I am for sure not getting more than 35 right now.
All the performance intake and main jet did was make it louder.

Thanks Ill try this out today....
If my belt is too short what is the solution?  A simple adjustment or do I need a new belt?

Also how close to the top should it be going?  I know if it goes over the variator its goign to get shredded.

Just a word of advice, I bought my Kymco from a cycle shop here in Detroit Michigan.
I wasted $10.00 on a derestricted variator boss online just to fine out that mine didnt have that restrictive collar.
Then I wasted another $10.00 on a #82 Main jet just to find out mine already had one.

So the only restriction in place on my bike when I bought it was the CDI wire which I cut...
That took me from 30mph to 37mph.

I changed the main jet to a #88 and put a free flow K&N Filter on and now I max out at 35mph.... but its quicker to get there.... WHAT GIVES?

Should I really waste my money on a race variator and lighter weights or just go straight to the 80cc big bore kit?

So just a word of warning for anyone who bought a Kymco Super8 50cc 4 stroke here in the US.

The Variator boss is smooth, so there is no restriction there, also the main jet is a #82 so no restriction there either.

I purchased a K&N air filter and an 88 main jet, and I accelerate quicker, but I am still maxed out at about 35mph.... very annoying for a $1800 bike.

Any other suggestions on restrictions that may be able to be removed?

81
Just went to change my variator boss last night and believe it or not it didnt have that shoulder, so that didnt help at all.
Going to have to try the main jet next.... Wish me luck.

Just bought a 150cc for myself and now my wife cant keep up with me.

My guess is, its similar to my Super 8.
Check out your wiring harness to your CDI.
Its the box behind the battery.

I clipped the violet/pink wire (there are two, only clip one)
I have already received a boost of 5MPH

83
Violet and pink wire has been clipped and we are up to 37MPH so +5MPH already.

Next Im going with changing out that variator boss to a smooth one.
Anyone know where a smooth variator boss can be purchased online?
That Ebay kit doesnt appear to come with one.

That makes 3 of us.... I found a great site but it seems to be in German.
http://scootergrisen.dk/scooterhjemmeside/begrensninger.php
If anyone could translate that would be fantastic!

Mine is brand new so I havent cut that wire yet, but posts like what you guys are saying makes me not want to.

I have heard the China keeways will go 45 right out of the box.... stuck at 32MPH is a real bummer for a $2,000 Bike.

85
One more question, should I be waiting for the break in period before going and changing anything?
Its brand new so it only has 15 miles on it currently.

86
I have done my research (about 2 days worth) and found that the easiest most common way to get what I want would be to disconnect the RPM limiter on the CDI
However, I have read some posts that people say doing this without any other modifications could by harmful to your scooter
Does anyone have any experience with just cutting one of the two violet/pink wires going to the CDI unit next to the battery

I have attached pictures of my bike and the wiring harness.

Any confirmation that what I am doing is correct would be much appreciated as well.

Thanks

I just purchased a Kymco super 8 50cc 4stroke from the local dealer.
They tried to upsell me to the 250cc but I didnt want to deal with registration licensing and insurance.

However, this thing is entirely too slow to be safe.
I cant get it over 32MPH

Anyone have any experience with this kit?  Is it worth while?

If so anyone have step by step instructions for the install?
