I don't believe we even need turn signals here in Connecticut.

I always try and give a hand signal when in traffic on top of my turn signal.

Left arm straight out for left turn, left arm bent upwards for right turn.

Forbes

You can look at things in the way of how you effect other people. People see you keeping a positive attitude, getting back to work, and moving ahead. Seeing you moving ahead in the face of adversity is inspiring to me and should be to other people; and this effects others in a positive way and gives those people also facing adversity confidence to move forward themselves. Almost like that movie "Its a Wondeful Life" where you just don't realize how you affect others in a positive way. Its a nice gift to have and when we read about your plight, its makes me and possibly others put things into perspective and realize that we can overcome adversity and forge ahead also. So in that aspect, you have affected others in a positive way even though you may not realize it.

You story has been very inspiring.

General Discussion / Re: Scooter insurance guidance ??

When I first got my bike, I took it to a marina to visit my friends boat. The gravel of the parking lot was deep and the bike almost slid into new expensive car. Man that would have been a lot of money to repaint and fix.

Always have some sort of insurance riding a motorized vehicle.

Forbes, you are a special person that just keeps on going and who defines the phrase not giving up. I'm under 2yrs post heart surgery right now and plugging a long at 138 lbs and thankful for so many things.

I'm sure you may have already come across Mark Inglis a double amputee that climbed Mt Everest. I watch Everest documentaries and have seen him in a few especially in the Everest:Beyond the Limit series.

Here he is a talking about one thing thats free in life and thats a positive attitude.

Its real nice to hear you are getting improvements with your prosthesis.

Sometime I feel things although bad sometimes happen for a reason and set us on a different path. After surgery, I couldn't ride my scooter for a year, maybe something would have happened who knows. When I had my neck injury, my chiropractor noticed I had a melanoma on my back that a previous doctor said was benign and that saved my life. I believe God works in mysterious ways.

Wish you the best and we can all learn from you.

Super 8 / Re: NO POWER UPHILL - 2015 Super 8R Road Scooter

Don't throw parts at it DW. Once the mechanic diagnoses the problem, replace what is needed to fix the issue. I know others may disagree, but I highly recommend replacing with only genuine Kymco OEM parts. The published load limit for that scooter is 330 lbs. per the owners manual, so it should have no problem pulling 200 lbs.  I have included a link below in case you dont have one;

If we dont know what speed you are getting on the flats, we dont know if you bike is de-restricted so we dont know where to start with suggestions.

Are you getting good de-restricted speed on the flats and just real lousy hill performance ?

dwbailey what speed are you presently getting on flat surface? can you mount a GPS and get a speed reading I see your speedometer is not working.

Smooth boss if yours is presently shouldered is essential.

I'd recommend the Malossi Purple contra spring to increase hill climbing speed.

7 gm Dr Pully Sliders would be a good start.

Make sure air in tires is to specs. I put mine a little bit over.

Don't want to sound judgmental but are you a big person (weight on these 49cc matters a lot)? My tool kit alone loses me 1-2 MPH.

« on: May 31, 2016, 10:07:36 AM »
Smart folks don't break their keys, hence no need for a 3rd, 4th or 5th key. Capiche paisano?.................better go make sure my spare is where I think it is.

Ahh, leave the key in the side of the Super 8 and brush against it with your leg while putting it up on the stand. Thats how my key broke.

I think that would only be an issue if it had to be registered or some one out of the blue appeared and claimed it was their stolen property. Who ever has title, owns that scooter maybe.

Let me ask.

Is your oil pump cam all the way open or at max 1mm over full open at full throttle.

Xciting 250 / Re: Shredded another belt. 2500 miles.
« on: May 13, 2016, 02:26:37 PM »
What made you decide to replace the belt after 2500 miles ? Was it worn down. I replaced mine also with a Bando at about that mainly to have an extra one as a spare.

I did note that when I opened the cover originally at about 700 miles to replace weights, the insides were extremely dirty with belt dust. I cleaned it out. Its not been that dirty since and I have almost 6000 miles now. I ask myself if it was assembled wrong etc.

I do read stories of people replacing their stock variator and then having belt tears and thats one of the reasons I don't desire to put a high performance (or new) variator on the scooter.

Although I do wonder at what point does one need to replace the variator and how to get a stock one or how to tell if it is worn to a point it could shed a belt possibly.
