Even I've heard about the CVT going on the 650 - the word on the street (lol) is that the 400s are the ones to have :)

Vipe - let's hope it won't be that long for your vaccination.
also.....is there a story for us here?!! Honda C70C (red, 1983, fire damaged 2020) If not - well - make something up! (with a car chase through London, riding down stairways, reversing against traffic, etc.!)

Keep safe....
Stig

There is a story, I guess - I'll write it up one day when I'm quiet at work :)

I'm quite young and don't have any health issues so I'm happy to wait for now.

Yes, it's been carnage with COVID deaths in the UK.

I'm glad some of you are getting your vaccines. I'm in the lowest-risk group, so will probably around September at this rate.

When you say MidWest you mean West Midlands, right? :)

That's not true, the bike Stig was talking about is a Wangye, which is very much mainland China.

I have some ACF50 here in grease form; sometimes use it on bits of frame on builds where I think it's a bit over-exposed.

A Wangye/Sanben! At one point a very common sight on UK roads as the Lemoto Vienna WY125T-121, the Pulse Lightspeed 2 WY125T-74 and Lemoto Gladiator WY (or SB) 125T-23.

Really nicely put together actually for Chinese scooters. There were thousands and thousands sold in the UK. Import ended a few years ago as the factory had massive problems domestically and they were largely replaced by Longjia (very naice) and Znen (meh) models in this country, anyway.

Glad you're alright. Nothing wrong with quitting whilst you are ahead.

I'd be surprised if I covered 1000KM in total.

Decent quality socket set will last you for many years :)

This is actually really common in the Chinese motorcycle/scooter industry.

Perhaps another famous example is Jianshe and Tianda - the former the big one, the latter a split-off after the son went solo. Not a lot of difference between them, but one makes Yamaha YB125s for the UK, the other supplies a chunk of the Lexmoto range. Almost no cross-compatibility, though!

I remember when I first had the weird rollers. My Like200 used to fly after what appeared to be the end of the range. Actually, I think I'll order a set next month for the Melody and see if I can squeeze a tiny bit more gearing out of it :0

The Germans aren't really massively in to scooters, but they are fantastically good at selling a good catalogue of products.

Italy is probably the place to get the best accessories.

The lack of parts availability and no resell value precludes any desire to tackle such a project. Just no R.O.I.

It might be a good project for a young person with limited funds for cheap transportation.

I think this might the difference between the US and the UK - a lot of Chinese stuff is really well catered for spare parts over here.

They are usually fitted with diaphragm carbs and vacuum fuel systems so are prone to gumming up when parked up for too long.
