People GT 300i / Re: Bearings kit
« on: June 13, 2023, 10:58:09 PM »
After technical difficulties, I am finally able to update the post.
I've managed to replace the bearings in my steering column. Not an easy job for sure. But the bike feels very different now.

I also got Steering Stem Bearing Race Removal Tool for Yamaha TRX850 1996-2000, and made the job super easy.

I highly recommend that you check the bearings, during winter when you are not riding. As there is a lot to remove. You will also need a tool to remove the handlebar too. Cyclepedia manual will come in handy too.

My cyclepedia manual states 2mm is the service limit for clutch pads on a LIKE200i.

@ Stig
Are those cyclepedia manuals worth getting, I am looking at getting one?

Please inform yourself about 5g before using it.

I've used 15x40 and now experimenting with 10x40.
5x50 is full synthetic. If you start with synthetic you should stick with it.

Downtown 300 / Re: Fuel Filter Bolt Nut?

Loosen the nut while the engine is cold, before you warm up the engine to do an oil change. I don't warm up the engine anymore to do an oil change but do it while it's cold. It just takes longer that's all.

I had similar problem. Don't think i had that yellow light flashing. Took it to the mechanic, he looked everywhere couldn't find any electrical problem. He opened the throttle wide open and tried to start the bike for few seconds and it started while the throttle was wide open the whole time.

Had the problem again. I thought it was battery but used the same method and it started. He told me fuel injection gets flooded sometimes and that's the method you use. Keep the gas open all the way for few seconds till it clears the fuel injection.

I don't think the fuel pump on your bike was the problem, it was just guess work from their part.
What's the yellow light representation of?

I am still on original maxxis rear tyre which has 26,000km, can't say I am not suprised. But I hardly use rear brake, most of the time let the engine slow the bike down. 15,000km is good too. Rubber wears out quicker than nylon.

You can put a pillow and underneath a mountain bike bicycle tube. It helps a lot. I've released scooters are not best when it comes to bumpy roads because of a riding position.

Thanks for your help. Visually you can't see anything as you are turning the screw. That's why I was puzzled and thought it wasn't working. As you mentioned it's best to do at night against the wall or something.
