General Discussion / Re: Got hit today...
« on: October 20, 2018, 10:42:22 AM »
Glad you're OK.
Hopefully the insurance will just cover your cost, or likely full replacement value since scoots tend to get totaled very easily.
The insurance company is definitely going to total it. I only had a bent rear shock and a few minor scratches, when I got hit and they totaled my DT300. The insurance company doesn’t want to be bothered by trying to repair the damage,so they just cut you a check. The only bad thing , if you decide you want to fix it ,you have to register the scooter as a a salvage vehicle. You can still get insurance, but if you ever decide to try and sell it, good luck, nobody really wants to buy a salvage bike

Downtown 300 / Re: Sea Foam for Gas Tank?

Is that the Super Clean Gas.  I always use the High fuel gas. :)
It won’t hurt,to put it in every so often. I use sea foam or star-tron, just in case, every few months. You want to trust the oil companies, but you never know.

Downtown 300 / Re: Brake lever safety switch
« on: July 22, 2018, 09:50:36 AM »
Sorry forgot to tell you how to change it.

1) look under the left lever cluster, you should see that little black switch.

2) undo the Phillip screw and the switch will come out.

3) unplug the two blade connectors

4) bin that old switch

5) do the reverse to reinstall the new switch

We had some really nice weather in Jersey on Saturday. So I went to start the DT to go for a little ride. Would it start again!!! I’ve had the new battery on the tender, I tried Mac’s procedure, and would not turn over. I decided to check the plug. When I took it out, the one end was black and loaded with carbon, the other end was bent, almost at a 90 degree angle. I have not changed that plug in over a year and a half, have no idea how it bent. I put the stock plug back in and it started right up. Drove for an hour and everything was fine. IDK

Downtown 300 / Re: Kymco battery problem

That battery should work, as long as it fits in the battery compartment, even if it is a little bigger, it’s gonna be a pain to get it in. I believe that battery is maintenance free, so you don’thave to add anything

I just replaced my stock kymco battery,on my 2012 Downtown 300i. It was a kymco GT12a-bs. It is really your choice of which battery you prefer, just make sure that it’s the same size. Here in the states, there are many places to get a replacement battery. Any motorcycle or scooter shop, should have them in stock. Online, they run about $25-$30 USD. Not sure what the mark up is at a shop. Also, once you get the battery, make sure to get a battery tender,to keep it charged, especially if your not using it on a regular basis

I ran it for a good 15 minutes and shut it down. It started right back up. I’ll have to wait and see,how she is when I get back. Leaving for Myrtle Beach, for the holidays,Thursday. So until then , Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy New year to you and your family and all of the forum members as well. Thanks again. Now I can enjoy the holidays!!!

ole two wheels, I will definitely try that, I hope it is something as simple as that. It just bothers me, even though it’s been ridiculously cold and snowing and I haven’t taken it out for a nice ride, I hate when gremlins mess with my stuff.

Yes, I keep it on the battery tender. I’m thinking that it’s something else, even with the new battery, it sounded like it wanted to start, but didn’t, I was just draining the new battery. So I figured I would stop and you guys, before I went anything further

It doesn’t sound any different, on Monday and Tuesday, I actually drove it. Only up the block, I live in an over crowded city, so I actually park the scooter,on the street, so I have a place to park my car when I get home from work. Honestly, it’s been really cold, Wednesday was 28 degrees.  But before that, the battery light was on, while it was running, but then turned off after a few seconds. I just figured that the battery was starting to get weak.

Well guys, I have the DT stored in my garage, battery tender hooked up, full tank of fuel. Started it up Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday, it wanted to start, but wouldn’t. The battery is 27 months old, so I put in a new battery, same thing. It sounds like it wants to start but then it sounds like the battery is getting weak. Any suggestions? Kick stand up, kill switch is off, dash lights are working normal, I can hear the fuel pump kick on, it cranks over, it just doesn’t start.

General Discussion / Re: NSS300 FORZA & BURGMAN 400 vs KYMCO
« on: December 09, 2017, 02:41:50 PM »
Well guys and girls. I went to the progressive international motorcycle show in NYC, last Sunday. Just as I suspected, NO Kymco reps or any Kymco offerings. Honestly, it is mostly all motorcycles but they did have a few scooters. I only snapped a couple pictures.
Suzuki, was only dealer, to display their full lineup.
Burgman 650.. $11,100 Burgman 400.. $$8,100 and the Burgman 200... $5,100
Maybe if Kymco, went to these events, their scooters would be more popular, here in the states

I usually keep mine on the center stand, to keep the weight off the tires, definitely keep it hooked up to the battery tender, I also don’t drain all the fuel out, I start mine a couple times a week, but that’s just me. I’m sure everyone else will post their preferences for the winter also
