Skipper20 I just retread your post. I fill my tank just above the horizontal bar at the base of the filler neck. If I fill a bit higher up the neck I find a little sideway shake of the scooter releases what seems to be trapped air and the fuel level drops just above the horizontal bar. With your added fuel topping off at 1.13 gal means you have nearly 0.5 gal in the tank when you started.

Thanks TroutBum. Sounds like good advice. I'll give it a try. Best!

I get between 55 and 63 on my 2099 Xciting 250 depending on whether I drive 50-60 mph vs mostly 65+.  My GPS verified top speed on flat ground is 86mph. I use mid grade gas most of the times. And I weigh 170#. I have 23g (vs 20.5g stock) dr pulley sliders to reduce cruising Rpm's slightly. Otherwise its stock. So 60 on a Like 200cc which is a much lighter scooter seems a little low to me.

60mpg is low especially for a 245 lb., 163cc EFI scooter in top tune with a 175 lb. rider (185 with riding gear). And a 68 mile range is just plain ridiculous. I'm beginning to think that the rest of you who haven't responded are getting the same numbers but you just don't want to admit it. Right?

Country road cruising vs your city riding?
Stig

Since I'm out in the NW Tucson/Oro Valley area it's about 90% country road cruising where I'm usually doing a steady 45 - 50 mph. BTW, I sure would like to hear from any others out there about their mpg and range experience. TIA,

12,600 miles on my 2012 Like 200i. I average 80 mpg. I fill the tank with premium grade gasoline when I've gone 105 to 120 miles. My guess is I could go 140 to 150 miles before running out of fuel. I would guess my average riding speed to be 40 to 45 mph. My indicated top speed on a long stretch of level road had been as high as 63 mph. Lately with new tires, belt and rollers top indicated speed has dropped to just under 60 mph. This might have something to do with the new belt being nonOEM. The belt I have on it now is a Malossi. I find the air filter oddly to be nearly prestine each time I check it at oil change. Even with that I change out the filter once a year. My scooter is completely stock except the belt and tires. Belt as indicated is Malossi and tires are Michelin City Gripes. The original tires were replaced about 500 miles ago. Not the best tires for wet pavement, but a long lasting tire.

Thanks for your reply. Your experience is significantly better than mine yet your bike has almost 3 times the mileage of mine. Your 80 mpg vs. my 60 mpg is to be envied as well as your range of 140 miles which is double my puny 68 miles. I don't do hot dog starts and I rarely ever ride WOT. The bike starts, idles and runs fine. Its air filter showed some dirt but its paper element was still clear.

So, what is it that I'm doing wrong and you're doing right?

My 2013 Like 200i with 4,635 miles is averaging 60 mpg and its GPS verified top speed is 58.5 mph. I'm 5'10" tall, weigh 185lbs with riding gear and the scooter has a medium height SlipStreamer windscreen installed. When the fuel gauge needle is just about to hit the peg before "E", I'm fiilling the tank to just below the horizontal tube in the filler neck but the most I can squeeze in is 1.13 gals. so my range is only about 68 miles. Are all of these numbers normal for a like 200i with 4,635 miles? It starts and runs fine and has no mechanical issues that I'm aware of. Last night I pulled the air filter and it showed some dirt but it wasn't clogged, i.e. I could see the light from my flashlight behind it.

If I replace the air filter will I see any noticeable improvement? Are there any other things I could do to improve fuel mileage? I can probably live with a top speed of 58.5 mpg but if any of you are doing noticeably better and your bike is bone stock like mine, I'd like to know about it. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hey all!
I have a 200i its a great little beast..
But i have seen videos of them doing at least 150 klm/h (93.2mph). Does anyone know what gears or ecu i can put into her?

What is your current best top speed? My speedo indicated top speed here in the Tucson area is 58 mph. And that's on a nice long stretch of relatively smooth paved road with little or no wind. Based on the ergonomics of the bike, its 245 lb. dry weight and its 12" wheels and tires,  anything over 60 mph IMHO would be tempting fate. I also like the bike but feel very comfortable cruising at 50 mph and occasionally pushing it to 55 which is what it was designed for. If you want to do 93, please think about a bigger scooter with at least a 400cc engine.

Just a quick hello and introduction.  I just got a Like Anniversary edition and am in Northern NJ.

Also have a Vespa GTS.

Welcome aboard. For a Vespa rider, the Like makes sense. A Vespa style front and classic Lambretta rear. Good choice!

Please do. I'm curious if someone else notices a slight improvement when squeezing the brake lever a bit harder or when applying both brake levers at start up.

That's the secret. No need to squeeze both levers. I squeezed the left brake lever a bit harder than usual and it fired right up with no hesitation whatsoever. I repeated the process 5-6 times throughout the morning and same results each time. Talk about an easy fix. I wish they were all like this!

I have a 2012 Like and have the same hesitation especially on cold starts. A couple years ago I got a Yausa battery under warranty and still the hestitation continues. Once warmed up its not as pronounced, but it's still there. My guess is either the battery lacks the amps needed to spin the starter or the starter motor isn't fully capable of producing enough torque to compensate for the compression of the engine. Perhaps it's both the amps and motor.

Have you noticed if you squeeze a bit harder or apply both front and rear brakes it seems to lessen the hestitation?

Right now the scoot is strapped to the back of my Subaru getting rady to head south to Tucson but when I get there early next week, I'll try the hard squeeze and both brakes on procedure. I'll report back and thanks!

My '13 Like has 4300 miles on the clock. When I push the start button it starts to engage but there's a brief pause before the starter motor fully engages. It's like uh oh the battery has died but it's only a split second pause and then it fires right up. And I do keep it on a battery tender so the battery is fully charged. Is this an indication that something in the start system is starting to wear out or normal for a 4300 mile scooter? TIA,

Jumped on my scooter today determined to ride until I reached 12,000 miles.

Did it!

Congrats. I'm just a bit over 4,800 with my 2013 so I've got a looong way to go.

Matte black LIKE.  Saw this picture in a Craigslist ad.

Nice. I wonder if it's a new stock color or a repaint?

I can still part the old bike and take its clock. If i sell it in a whole piece i dont think they ever notice/care of a tiny clock if the bike is a total wreck hehehe

But before leaving on vacations i called the kymco dealer.. bike's still under warranty. And they asked. do you have service records..? no sir. Its a new to me bike and no records. And he responded. So no warranty can be used in your case.
I did remind him that a clock had nothing to do with a dumb clock!!
Id show personally when im back home

Warranties where never on my side. Always fixed my cars on my trusted shop. Dealers are terrible and generally they need to keep your car for several days snd end not doing anything in the end. Its cheaper in the long run to do my own maint and carry with costs and have the car running.

If it were me I wouldn't spend time worrying about the clock or the original warranty which may not be transferable anyway since you're not the original owner. As I said earlier, if you absolutely have to know the time while you're underway and you don't wear a wristwatch, spend $25-$30 and get yourself a peel and stick MC clock and stick it on the dashboard. The numbers are bigger and easier to read than the tiny stock numbers so you'll be safer when you take your eyes off the road to glance at the clock.

I already own a People 300 and put a very large highway windshield on it.  Very fine machine with the 16" tires.  I also have owned an Xciting 500 with "mixed" results, mostly trying to start it on cold days... A local dealer has a new Like 200 (2014) for $1899 / $2150 out the door. I have several questions.  Is that a good deal? I noticed where it's made, is there any quality issue?  Should I buy an extended warranty? Costs? Can I cruise, with comfort, up to about 60 MPH?  I'm not interested in any Interstate with the Like 200, mostly 30 mph to 55+ mph.  It feels so different than the People 300.  It looks like a fun scoot for sure !  It's much lighter, lower, 12" tires and more of the "true"scooter looks.  Thank you for your opinion.
Tony

It's a good choice. The OTD price is hard to beat especially since you'll be getting full warranty coverage. If you're 5' 10" or taller the stock seat will be the only negative (its cross-wise ridge separating driver from passenger will cut into your butt) but if you've already sat on a Like 200i, you're not complaining so that's a plus. Yes, it is a nice retro design. The front half is decidedly Vespaish whereas the back half looks classic Lambretta. I've had my 2013 up to 55 indicated with a bit of throttle left so depending on your height and weight, 60 mph seems realistic. And, with a lot of stop and go city traffic, I'm averaging 68 mpg. I don't think you'll be disappointed. So far, i'm very happy with mine.
