SCOOTER WORLD SCOOTING OUT OF DOWNTOWN OVERLAND PARK AS NEW CONDO PROJECT FORCES MOVE
After spending their entire existence ( since 2002), in Downtown Overland Park, Kansas City’s original and only dedicated scooter store has lost their lease and will be locating out of downtown OP in order to make way for The Vue* condo’s because the building where they rent space is being demolished.
Mike Levitt, along with his wife, who are the creators behind Scooter World, stated, “ we’ve been in old downtown since day one and the flavor and unique nature of the area has really fit our culture well. And that connection is what we will miss the mostâ€, Levitt said.
“Once the new multi-million dollar development was announced last spring, it only became a matter of time before it was going to become a reality.†While Levitt and his family worked hard to find a location to keep them within downtown Overland Park, they only recently found a new spot and are busy working on the permits and remodeling to make it the new home of Scooter World.
While there was a moment where Levitt and his wife thought maybe this is was a sign to just move on and say we gave it a good run. Then again, they thought about all those customers who many are now called friends and of the scooter culture they feel they played a big part in reviving in Kansas City and said, let’s keep going.
Scooter World will be in the process of moving over the next few weeks to 9300 Santa Fe into a building that used to be an old Quick Trip store
