For Sale / Re: 2015 Like 200i Anniversary edition in NJ
« on: May 31, 2017, 02:10:23 AM »
It looks quite nice !
Should sell quickly, this time of year.
If you put a price on it.

I look for motivated sellers, or those who have simply thrown in the towel and abandoned interest.
If I can't get a great deal, I'll stay home.

You can avoid cash buyers like me, and Looky-Lou's by asking a reasonable price for your scooter.  :-)
Do Not allow anyone to test ride it without their cash money in your hand.
redk

Thanks for the Tips Redk, I figure I would ask $2700 or a reasonable offer since it was almost $3000 ($2799 plus freight and prep) new plus the accessories

Thanks Redk, funny how in your poking fun you actually came close to my daily driver- a VW Westfalia Eurovan LOL.  As for the camp scooter you posted, I would love one!

Perhaps sell both and get a maxi-scooter? Best of both worlds and simplifies things. Scooter maintenance is much simpler.

Thanks, for the advice!   I considered that and am still toying with the idea, problem is the only Maxi scooter that begins to interest me is the Downtown 300.  It's a great machine but does not come close to doing as much as my BMW motorcycle.   I think what will end up happening is I will most likely put the Like up for sale and if I see I am not using the MC for any long trips, I will end up selling that and going for the Downtown.

Hi All,
Selling my 2015 Like 200i Anniversary edition.  It has the under seat storage bag, chrome guards, and windshield.  Valve clearance checked and adjusted and oil changed.  It runs great and has under 500 miles on it.  Have not had any time to ride it lately and thinking it should go to someone who can enjoy it.  Asking $2700 or reasonable offer.  Bike is in Bergen County NJ.

I am open to a trade deal for a Downtown 300i to replace the Like and my motorcycle.

Welcome NJ and congrats on being a father! Your life will never be the same! The Like looks really sharp! I like the anniversary issue paing scheme.

Thanks Mr. Paul,  Life is definitely different now, in a good way though it gives me little if any time to ride the scooter or the motorcycle.

Thanks for the compliment on the scooter, the paint scheme is what attracted me to it initially, but now thinking I may have to sell either the scoot or the bike since I have no time lately.

Hi All,

Have been MIA for a while luckily it was for a good reason, been getting accustomed to fatherhood!  So on to the like...  This bike has impressed me and I only have 2 complaints other than the tight ergos, but I knew that when I got it.  Complaint 1, is the fuel gauge, thought the bike failed only to realize I was out of gas....  Why do they make full and empty the reverse of most other manufacturers? Second complaint, the top box- it feels cheap for lack of a better term.  This was remedied by switching to a GIVI.  Also got a set of soft side cases from Oxford which I will most likely never use again since touring is not something I plan on using the Like for.
Pics attached.

NJ Rider, where did you get the good buy on the crash bars?

Jersey Sue

I got the crash bars at the dealer (OEM),  I think they gave me a 10 or 20% discount since I got them with the scoot, but even at full price they are a bargain at under $125.  An OEM set for a vespa is over $500!  BTW, installation is a piece of cake on them.

Hey Jersey! Welcome. :)

I have family in Piscataway (exit 10, LOL). Say hi when you pass by.

I love your scoot, nice color. Do the chrome bars get in your way at all? I'm thinking of adding the chrome kit but worry that my short legs will get hung up on the chrome bars when I plant my feet or mount/dismount.... thoughts?

Hi DJPO,

I think you are referring to my bike with the crash bars.  I love the way they look and the price on them was too good to pass up.  They really don't add to much width to the bike but everyone has different views about how much is too much for them.  My main concern is having them for protection since I had a spill on my previous Vespa 250 coming out of the Lincoln tunnel and they saved the cowl from denting and only ended up with scratches.  Aside from that they look great and add a nice classic look to the bike.  I say go for them, they take less than 30 minutes to install.  Was almost in Pistcataway for a bike blessing earlier in the month!

Join us on Saturday, May 28th for the 3rd Annual 2016 Memorial Day Weekend Scooter Ride. It's a beautiful 75 mile ride leaving from my home in Port Murray, NJ to the Delaware Water Gap and back. There will be gas and a lunch stop along the way. This event is open to anyone with a 125cc or greater scooter. The ride departs at 10AM and concludes around 4PM. For more information, PM me directly. You don't want to miss this event. It gets bigger and better every year.

Wish I could make it ScooterLar, unfortunately work just got crazy and I have to miss the fun.  Looks like an awesome ride though, have fun and ride safe!

Hi NJrider, My husband Vic and I are also from Hackensack. We've been having a blast riding our Like 50s at the Jersey Shore (LBI) and now have brought them up north. However, the 50cc's can't climb some of the hills here so we're looking to upgrade to the Like 200i or something comparable. One option is the SYM Fiddle III 200i. The Fiddle is very nice looking and the seat is a little lower, but the Like has both front & back disc brakes, which I've been reading is a real plus. We're leaning towards the Like but we noticed there's no kick starter. Does anyone see that as a deal breaker? Also, we're having trouble finding a certified shop in our area for service. Lastly, does anyone know whether the Like will still be available after 2016? We've really enjoyed our Likes and have had no issues since purchase. I have a 2013 and Vic has a 2014. I'm have 850 miles on mine.

Hey Jersey Sue and Vic!

Nice to see more NJ people here, Hackensack definitely has some steep hills to challenge a 50cc bike.  My 200 has no issues with them and the bike has impressed me more than I expected.  I did not find the lack of a kick start to be an issue since my wife's Vespa 250 and my old Vespa 250 did not have them.  I honestly think the Like starts quicker than the Vespas.  As for service, I got mine from JR motorsports in Haverstraw NY but decided to service it myself since it is so easy.  I have done 3 oil changes on it as well as the valves and both are pretty simple.  The only other dealer I know of is in Bellville NJ but have heard mixed reviews.  At this point my next change on the bike will be replacing the stock tires with whitewalls.  Hope to see you around Hackensack!

Ok, I think I am fairly qualified to respond to this considering I have both a Kymco Like 200i and a Vespa GTS.  Here is my take on it, the Vespa is AMAZING!  It can do 70-80mph and is stable on the highway.  It feels more solid, comfortable, and roomier than my Like.  Now that being said, I LOVE the Like!  My like came in it at UNDER $3000 OTD.  You would be lucky to see the Vespa for $7000 OTD, more like $8k as everyone has stated.  My OTD Price included the chrome side guards, windscreen, and under seat storage bag (those are big $$$ on a GTS).  Another thing, the like comes with a top case and the Vespa does not - add another $400 or so for that.  Based on all this, the Kymco is a STEAL compared to the Vespa.  You could feasibly get 3 Kymco's for the price of a single Vespa GTS or 2 for the price of the Vespa LX...  Both Kymco and Vespa have a 2 year warranty BTW.

Now understand I am not a Kymco fan boy- I am a hard core European bike and car enthusiast.  I have had quite a few Vespa's and loved them all and they have been ultra reliable.  I also dislike Asian bikes and cars in general and I consider them imitations of American and European inventions or innovations.  However if the price is that much lower I am more than willing to "settle" for a copy.  As for Kymco, how bad can they be, they are building engines for BMW and many others....  Just my 10 cents on the subject, enjoy your Like 200i it is a great little machine.

I got my Kymco Like 200i (gosh that's a mouthful) 2 weeks ago. I'm happy with it, but have always wanted a Vespa. I just didn't want to spend the $. So Kymco was a good compromise for me.

Well, Vespa announced their 70th anniversary editions for the Vespa GTS 300 ABS starting at $6,999. And the color has got me drooling. Pic below.

Well, it's still 4 grand more than I paid for the Kymco so I'll keep enjoying the Like for another year or two and then upgrade to my dream scoot.

Just got a chance to check mine, did not realize how hidden it was.  Manufactured December 2014...  The scoot does impress me though considering how long I have been a fan of Vespa's!

OK, thanks for clearing that up.
You are correct - G means 2016 model year...or something. ?
My "C" is correct for 2012 (manufactured April, 2012) ....of course sold to me as a "new 2013" by the salesman.
So, still wondering if they are still making a LIKE200i.....
Stig

Sounds like a great time that I would love to be part of.  Unfortunately I think I will be in Virginia this Memorial day.  Ride safe all and have fun!
