Dan, how is Deb? We have her on our prayer list.

Sorry just saw this. Overall, Deb is surviving the chemo but man is it brutal. Yesterday she needed my help walking from the bathroom and suddenly she went limp and passed out slipping from my arms slumping to the floor and hitting her head. Each chemo treatment really takes her down but then she rebounds and gets back her energy. She has one more to go before surgery. She's a tough gal and will get through this. Meanwhile I have reduced my business to a part time gig and can spend as much time as I can to care for her. Thanks for asking good buddy.

Thanks Tom, Paul and Boo. Haven't done any riding in awhile because of caring for my Debbie but that's ok. Spring weather in East Texas is picture perfect for riding now so perhaps I'll get the scooter out soon. Hope y'all doing ok.

Dan

Hi guys, been awhile since being here. Thought I'd update y'all on Deb's progress with her cancer treatment. She had her 5th chemo a few days ago and then has only one more to go. She's responding well to treatment and the cancerous tumor in her breast has shrunk considerably. She rebounds well after each treatment despite the brutal side effects of this treatment. After her 6th chemo she'll have surgery and then radiation treatment. She should be finished by early summer with all treatments. Her prognosis looks good so far for survival. She's upbeat and positive, eats an organic plant based diet and exercises. Deb also has a wonderful support system with family and friends and most of all, her relationship with God is strong and vital. All in all, a good report to share.

49cc or less is not required to be registered, licensed, inspected or insured in Texas. This is a bit of a grey area as the proliferation of bicycles with gasoline motor conversions are a bit of a problem in College Station, Texas (home of Texas A&M). Kids with such conversions are disobeying the regular traffic laws and riding around like a bunch of wild banchees and are unsafe. The law there has been cracking down and issuing speeding tickets and those for reckless driving. 30-40mph on a bicycle is way too fast with such minimal brakes, inferior tires and the lack of lighting is scary.

Been awhile since I've ridden but recently decided to take the SW out but no go....dead battery. Nice having 2 bikes so pulled out the BW and she instantly came to life. Rode it on one of our rural Twisties and that scooter grin came back to life. Scooter therapy is the best and think I may keep the Kymco after all as it's so reliable and again, nice to always have an extra in the stall if the other is down.

Thanks guys for your encouraging words. Deb feels like she's in good hands and has a strong faith in God. We'll get through this ok.

Sorry guys for being MIA. My wife Deb was recently diagnosed with Stage 3b breast cancer. It's been a whirlwind of daily tests and doctor visits the last few weeks
Good news is that it has not metastasized and spread to other parts of her body but is localized to her breast and lymph nodes. She'll get 6 chemo treatments 21 days apart followed with surgery and radiation. This all takes about a year. Our hopes are high and she is in good spirits considering. I'm the big cry baby as she appears stronger than me. Her faith in God is strong and she loves her oncology team. They're top hat. Please pray for her that she beats this.

Technical | How To / Re: Stig gets the side-stand installed !

PS: the Liberty is the easiest center stand I've ever come across. Small girl in bare feet could put it down.

Made me chuckle as the center stand on my Goldwing was a beast. Had to step up on it with full body weight to rachet it up. One gent on a GW forum tried it in socks and hurt his foot pretty bad. A #900+ bike is a handful. Good thing it also had reverse.

You got lucky on the weather. We were there in the Fall a few years back and rode over Mt. Mitchell in a complete whiteout with cold rain on our SW. We joined a meet and greet in Maggie Valley and rained everyday. We still had fun though. Wish we could have had your view from the BRP. Nice Helix too. A respectable ride for a pretty Fall day. You must have an iron butt.
