Update on the spare key for my People GTi300.
Ordered it 3rd week of May. You need 2 pieces: the plastic keyhead with magnet that unlocks the shutter AND a key blank. After almost two months wait time I called to see where my key "combo" was. Gentleman at Kymco Parts Monster had to call Kymco and found out that the part number for the plastic key head was no longer any good. So they ordered a different part number and it showed up in my mailbox last Saturday. I open it and find a bag with 2 plastic keyheads (correct keyheads, thankfully) and the entire magnetic shutter that mounts on top of the ignition lock cylinder . So now I have 2 keyheads, a shutter I don't need, and no key blank to stick in the keyhead . Looks like I have to put in another order for 15 bucks plus shipping to get a key blank. This will definitely end up costing over $100 just for a spare key! My advice to anyone planning to buy a Kymco with a security shutter: be absolutely sure that it comes with 2 keys, or that the price of a second key is negotiated into the purchase price. If you currently own a Kymco with a security shutter, treat those keys as if they are made of gold!!!
And don't take this post wrong, I am totally head-over-heels in love with the People. Just wish the keys were cheaper and easier to get!
