General Discussion / Goodbye to all, 4 wheels time,

Forum no longer valid for me as my 1999 Kymco Sector was sold for £400.
It got me a temporary job, which has now become permanent! :)
£250 got me a nice looking 2002 Citroen Saxo 1.4i, totally reliable, part body kit, alloys with near new tyres. Fun little car!
After 6 weeks, took it to my local garage for a service and all over check. It needed NOTHING!
Absolute bargain!
Took the plunge for 4 wheels as the Kymco would have been fairly costly in repairs for what it was.
Will get 2 wheels again in the next 2 years as I did enjoy it, but it will probably be a Yamaha or Honda.

Just an update guys....
Bike is totally reliable. Have done 1,200 miles without any hint of a problem.
Even been riding in -4 celsius icy weather in the dark, not by choice though...found work and have to travel 10 miles on hopefully gritted roads (not always), so I take it easy. Can normally see if road is gritted, as bits flick up from my front wheel into the headlight beam.
Replaced my dim 3watt sidelight (in headlight) with a lovely bright 2watt LED, without any converting! Its been working fine for 6 weeks now and is a fairly good daylight running light too! 35w/35w headlight bulb is adequate as I never go over 50mph anyway.
This was a cheap way of getting me on the road, to find work with....and the plan worked well.
I now work in a factory that makes industrial heaters and I construct the control panels. Fun atmosphere mixed with hardwork and loads of overtime when I want it!
My Kymco has earnt itself in just a few weeks!

 Lol, don't get me stared on Road Tax! In the UK, it used to be collected for spending on roads/road safety. NOW, its just a tax that tops up government and a bit of it does go back on roads. We are 20 years behind on repairing 'potholes'. Same with with National Insurance that comes directly out on Payday and was purely to pay for our health service. Theres no paper trail anymore. Local taxes are more audited and a basic costing does get posted each year.
 As for 4 wheel drivers, our main enemies are 'white van man, black BMWs that plough on at 100 - 150mph in the fast lane on our 70mph motorways! You see something approaching you're rear in youre mirrors in no time, flashing you to get the hell outta the way! Cheeky sods! Taxi drivers are a law unto themselves, regularly shooting through red lights....cutting me up! SUVs here are getting much more agressive too!
 With the cuts in spending, the is about a 70% drop in Police presence on the road compared with 5 years ago! Its madness now. So many more crashes and fatalities and ofcourse...,the Police have to attend all these crashes, which kinda makes no sense. They may aswell be out there in proper numbers acting as a deterrent, just like 5 years ago. Every fatality costs well over £1 million in overall cost, so theres no money saving and less people alive....crazy!

This is what  I found on UK Amazon and UK Ebay.

There are a few different makes of Winter Tyre Grip spray on products.
The reviews are 80% positive, saying it helps, even the lower priced cans.

THEY ARE DESIGNED FOR 4 WHEELS REALLY!

But surely, if we took a couple of lbs of air out, tried this stuff, banned ourselves from leaning more than 10 degrees, (maybe even less?) then its going to be a help.
The description says, you spray on whole tyre tred, (how much?) let it dry/set for 5 minutes, then you can go.

Main description;
This snow chain spray improves traction on tyre treads by up to 300% on slippery wet surfaces, black ice, sleet and snowy roads. Causes no physical or chemical affect to the body paint, metal or tyres on the car. Wears off once it makes contact with asphalt.
Three times normal grip on wet (or black) ice at around +3°C (37.4°F). Grip increases during near freezing temperatures. Reduces the risk of car accidents due to hazardous road conditions.

Features
Liquid snow chain spray
400ml can
Simply spray on tyres to increase traction on icey or snowy roads
Quick and easy to use
Effective up-to 40 miles.

I think, when it says 3 times more grip on ice, it means its still slippery, but just a bit less and it will be very cautious riding in the 3 weathers its designed for.
Effective upto 40 miles means in those 3 situations, not patchy ice, patchy snow or wet patches. Plain dry tarmac will take the coating off in no time!

Anyone come accross this stuff and tried it on 2 wheels? Or would you totally avoid something like this?

Ok, yes a bit more confusing, but probably easy to you who live there.
Was a bit worried about the last bit...35mph and people do upto 65mph with only a yellow line divider.
We have similar (dual carriage way, slow vehicles do atleast 50mph, max limit by law 60 or 70mph depending on the environment, but you will see people doing over 80mph on the odd occasion. Difference is we have a metal deflecter barrier along the whole of these roads, with short breaks for crossroads (rare).

Oh that good! Didn't know of such a gadget.
I doubt that my helmet will have this option. It was rather cheap, but still made sure it was of medium protection.
I have considered getting the sprays that are sold online. But I seem to be able to survive without for now.
Temperatures are no lower than -2c here, but generally +2 to +6c at night.  Another 2 months and it will be more like -2 to -10c here!

I honestly think that some pedestrians don't feel the need to be aware of vehicles in some situations. Its like, because we are operating a vehicle, the onus is all on us to avoid them, even when their actions can make things more difficult.
Here in the UK, the Highway Code book is for pestrians aswell as vehicles, but you never hear of them reading it!

Oh yes! My Sector is well and truly alive!
I cleaned the carb with Wynns carb cleaner and special tool, (a ball-ache to get off) added a new fuel filter. Put on a Champion double core sparkplug and it flies!
All that stuttering has gone, so smooth right through hard accelerating (3 mile test run).
Was hitting nearly 70mph....loving it!!! :) :) :)

Now working properly and impressed with brightness.
I removed the 'normal' dash clock amber warning bulb and that was the trick. Theres just enough 'glass' at top of the front indicators to see they are working and to remind me to cancel after turns.

Sometimes, I go on Racingplanet.com. The US version is the same as UK site. Pick you're scooter, then choose OEM parts. There, it shows all parts in graphics with part numbers within each part group. If the part matches, all good. I have looked at other bike models, for parts and have matched a few bits.
Not sure that this is of help to you, as you may seeking the specification of a part and the fact the part list below the graphics is in German, makes it harder!

Technical | How To / LED Indicator conversion problem??

Hi guys, just replaced all 4 indicators with LED ones, then changed the relay to a new LED compatable one. As I was progressing with each one, I tested the blinking, finally before wiring in the last 2 properly, test all 4 LED ones,  they all worked fine.
I wired in last 2, now its all 4 flashing together, whether I choose left or right??
Could it be, I have to remove the clock amber warning bulb too , then complete the circuit as if the was a bulb, or change it to LED bulb?
Its nothing to do with my battery,as I tested LED indicators on old battery, then I fitted a new fully charged battery and tested again.

I'm finding that various parts for my Sector, are much or are the same as a Honda CG125, which is quite good news. Takes some research though. Also have a couple of similar things on my 1999 bike as a 2004 different model, brake caliper being one.
Unfortunately, this does NOT make me a hero on here, as nobody else has the rare piece I have, so I am no help!

Yep, came across a urban 110 degree fairly tight bend, which was damp and plastered with white lines in various directions.
Took it in 2nd gear, 10mph.... manhole covers and them white lines scare me loads!

 Ok, so we in the UK know of Freeways, probably the UK Motorway equivalent.
We then have 2 laned A roads (Dual carriage ways), then main route A roads, then B roads... usually through villages, then C roads that mainly connect villages too and are only about 4 feet wider than a car in many cases.
 What other types of tar#mac roads do you in the US have, other than Freeways?

A little story of a man, a bike, a B road and a C road....
I was working on road building and was surveying a quiet village area.
200 yards up the road, was a  B and C road crossroad junction. The B road only ever had about 3 vehicles every 5 minutes it seemed. We were outside a row of village houses, when some chap, fired up his 500+cc motorbike, roared off up the C road towards the junction at about 60mph...AND JUST KEPT GOING STRAIGHT OVER THE JUNCTION! We chatted about him with a neighbour, who said he'd been doing this 5 days a week for 22 years! Lucky man!
Well, 2 days later, he was on the front page of the local paper, as his luck ran out at age 42.
He ploughed straight into a 40 ton truck and died instantly!

 In my 1st year of riding 2 wheels, 80's, I had a Suzuki TS100. 6v electrics, a 25w bulb? Was heading back home after a 30 mile rideout....last 7 miles was high ground and thick fog. about 20 feet visibility at best. I bumped the high sided verge so many times, because I was so fearful of veering into the middle of the road. Couldn't see tarmac half the time! Was only doing about 12mph max and it took forever. Never seen fog that thick since.
 Was another time on my 185, 6v lights again! It was the strangest conditions I'd ever ridden in. Not very thick fog, more a very deep YELLOW/BROWN mist and was soaking everything. Nothing to do with a yellowy headlight, it wasn't really....I had weird concerning thoughts the the nearby Nuclear Power station was leaking badly and colouring the air! Ridng in Sepia!
